- I enjoy the overall story and design of Dragon Ball (both Dragon Ball and DBZ), but as the series progress, it became known for it’s big fight scenes that lasted many episodes and got it the cliché of dragging on. However, beyond the big boss battles and some of the side fights, there’s actually a lot one-sided fights that either get glossed over due to them being so short, or have so many iconic moments that you forget that one side is easily overpowering the other. For this video, I want to take a look at the best one-sided fights in Dragon Ball Z, whether they were for story, comedy, or just an old-fashioned beatdown.

Ehh, she looks better without them. Besides either way, she'd never be too useful because she's clearly a support character for Gohan, but then Goku had to come back and reclaim the spotlight. If Gohan had become the protagonist like originally intended, I'm sure she could've had a MUCH more vital role to play.
I like the short cut because it makes her look like a butch lesbian. but the pigtails were sexier.
I change Vegeta vs Cell final form with Vegeta vs Frieza final form. I'm not big fan of Vegeta but once he understand he has no chance against Frieza and started to cry, I really felt sorry for him.
Can't argue with that! Both fights are pretty close for me, but I'm a much bigger fan of the Frieza arc overall, so the Cell entry was more fueled by my frustration that Vegeta let that happen to begin with.

He's wrong about the cell vs vegeta. In the manga piccolo said the only reason the final flash didn't kill Cell is BCS vegeta didn't directly at him bcs he didn't want to blow up the earth.

Krillin is the strongest human in DBZ so his win against Pintar shows that. I'm glad the series gives that reminder to the viewers because I feel we tend to forget. Krillin for the win!
I still count Tien as the Strongest. It's just messed up that he doesn't get recognized by Toriyama.

I'm honestly surprised the Super Vegito vs Buuhan, considering that Vegito was playing with him throughout the fight, especially when he became a jawbreaker. That was gold.
No matter how you look at it, buu in any form was toying with them.
He couldn't fight buu without taking gohan, goten, trunks, and piccolo out of him.
Going with all buu's forms he can do without those character fusion with him but everyone at full power.
Blue, god and 4 > Super buu >vegito > gotenks > kid buu > gohan > goten and trunks > Goku and vegeta > fat buu > piccolo > everyone else.
Kid buu over time could have became super buu after he gain a conscience and trained.
Half- Saiyans are stronger than full blooded ones.
As a big fan of the Buu Saga, I agree! I was conflicted about not putting that one on since I said a lot of Frieza fights were artificially not one-sided since he held back mostly, so I felt the same applied for the Vegito fight with Vegito holding back, even though the Vegito candy fight was no contest for Buuhan. I had them in the honorable mentions, but cut the segment due to time.

Vegito could’ve easily obliterated Buu and then used the dragon balls to wish everyone back but the plot required Vegito to be absorbed in order for Kid Buu to come out.

Ultimate Gohan was stated by Trunks to be stronger than Gotenks.
So Gohan > Gotenks.
Furthermore,Goten and Trunks are in no way stronger than any form of Buu or their dads for that matter on their own.

Goten and Trunks were shown to be weaker than beginning of Buu arc Gohan who was noted to be much weaker than his Cell arc self whom was surpassed by Buu arc Goku and Vegeta.
Lastly current Goku and Vegeta don’t need their god forms to be at the top of this list Mid DBS Base Vegeta stomped SSJ3 Gotenks.

Goku would lose without the plot and so would one else.
The fusions at super saiyan if trained and at full power would be at god goku and vegeta.
Gohan is stronger than Goku and vegeta but still got out played.
Goku and vegeta would not win against a fully trained super buu.
They fused because they wouldn't stand a chance against him even than they still weren't a challenge so they went inside and freed everyone but even when everyone was free from buu his fighting skills are still greater than them.

Cell took such a beating. None of his tricks could defeat the one and only mr. Satan.
It wasn't even a fight. Mr, Satan took him out with one blow just like he said he would.

I relate to this vid hard. Watching the scene when Trunks kills Mecha-Frieza out of context was what made me want to watch DBZ in the first place. The subbed version, complete with the stolen music from the German band. before that, I was an original series DB purist.
The look Trunks had on his face, there’s no way Vegeta could deny him as his son that even if he wanted to.
Yes but then Cell and Buu arcs had to ruin it with regenerators....what pisses me off even more is that cell and moro got their regeneration from Piccolo. Like, c'mon, then at least enable Piccolo to regenerate like that.

Goku vs nappa
Was fun, it's nice to see nappa being overwhelmed after seeing everyone either being greatly injured or killed. Before Gohan getting his head smashed, Goku saved him with the nimbus. When vegeta told nappa to wait, he disobeyed and went after gohan and Krillin Goku went Kaioken and broke nappa, making Vegeta pissed and killed nappa, who knows what would of happened if nappa survived and listened to vegeta

My favorite one sided fight was Future Trunks vs the future Androids. Unlike our Androids , the future Androids are evil fucking bastards that deserve the beating they got. Also future Cell also got his ass beat.

I think the biggest one sided fight is Hercule v. Perfect Cell. He stood no chance against Hercule!
Vegito vs Buu was great. Just toying with Buu all the time, even slapping Buu across the sky while transformed into a chocolate ball. Even Vegitos "loss" was just calculated and intentionally on Vegitos side.
That one was definitely considered! It was a tossup since Vegito was clearly holding back, but the candy domination was enough to put it in the running.
What's less balanced than a one-sided battle? A one-sided battle where the stronger one holds back still.

I liked the videl fight even if it is hard to watch...her moves were great and she is showed this proud of not backing down worthy of being the daugther of the strongest man on the planet.

Vegeta vs Pui Pui is one of my favorite fights to throw on when I want to watch some feel good dragon ball beatdowns
Love that one too! I was debating putting that on over Kirillin vs Pintar, but Vegeta was in 3 entries already, so it's an honorary number 11. My favorite part is how Pui Pui brags about the gravity only to get rocked right away.

I know this was one-sided Dragon Ball Z fights but one of my favorites in original Dragon Ball was when King Piccolo absolutely destroyed kid Goku in their first match-up with the most brutal and painful looking hits I've ever seen. He even briefly made Goku's heart stop beating, which only happened again with Hit in Super. There wasn't even that much blood. Just sheer brutality. It really looked like a grown man assaulting a tiny kid just for his own sadistic amusement.
Not even Tao Pai Pai decimated Goku in as savage a manner as King Piccolo. He was mostly methodical and efficient. His goal was to neutralize the enemy quickly, not literally kick him around like a football and grind his knuckles into his face like the latter just to make the torment last longer.
I loved a lot of those aspects of OG Dragon Ball. Same for the Tambourine fights. Goku may have decimated him on the rematch, but Toriyama really made him intimidating with how he just mowed through all the fighters. I definitely want to cover Dragon Ball more often since there are a lot of storylines that get overshadowed by the Z portion of the series.

I thought about putting that one on here, but it was kind of like the Frieza versus everyone else fight, where they seemed like they were on even footing at the beginning until one side showed they had the obvious advantage. Good thing Trunks doesn't mess around!

I like the video, but I just want to point out something about the whole of the Frieza fight. While the Z Fighters were impressive, obviously Frieza was toying with them, until the bitter end, which was his downfall. If he didn't have a torture fetish, he would have easily killed them himself, or at the least gone Final Form. At that state he could have killed them all in the blink of an eye. Even with Goku on the scene, 50%, let alone 100% would have been overkill for the heroes. Literally, the only reason they won was because of how sick the main villain was in his enjoyment of torturing others.
Can we talk about how much abuse Recoom took until Goku showed up
The part of the fight when Krillin forces Recoome's mouth shut during his Eraser Gun is conceptually one of the most brutal moments in DBZ

I would have like to have seen Tenshinhan Vs. Mercenary Tao pop up, as a one sided battle it's quite satisfying, though I wish there was more. VERY underrated fight, considering its a sequel to Tenshinhan's development after the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. It's the battle Tenshinhan earns his chest scar he'll carry with him for the rest of his life, and it was his former mentor and idol who gave if to him no less, that should mean something, his past coming back to haunt him and a reminder of what he used to be like, vicious and brutal, all in a scar next to his heart.
Tenshinhan looks awesome in this battle and that alone earns it points since its one of the last fights he'll ever really win. The way he tanks the Super Dodon Ray was amazing. After he knocks out Tao he gives him to Tsuru-Sen'nin telling them no to show their faces around him again. By the end you can tell Tien was pretty torn up about fighting his former idol and its a battle that left an effect on him. He brushes off the praise from his friends and quiet sits inside lounge until his next fight. What's funny is that immediately after Goku has to fight Chi Chi which has a more lighthearted tone in comparison. The situation was random though, if Toriyama wanted to conclude Ten's character arc it could have been done with much more impact and better utilazation of its elements
I'm shocked there are fans out there who blame Krillin for Vegeta's butt whooping! Also in Krillins defense, I would would never want to destroy 18! She's a work of art!
I was also surprised in how even the Vegeta vs Krillin debate was on who messed up more. Krillin showed normal human emotion/love when not wanting to kill 18, so he had my full sympathy.

That's partly because he was close to doing some damage, which isn't the case in fight later in the series, so at that point I just feel why even bother?And something that should happen way more in anime happens in that fight, dying of exhaustion. I for Videl vs Spopovich, the series just progressed to far power wise to justify having her do anything, maybe she could have fought Yamu? But why would that happen, ya know? I forgot about Trunks vs Freiza, yeah no, that is definitely number 1. But I'd say Tien vs Nappa would be second highest on my list.
I like to see that fight getting some support! Even though it's not my number 1, it's an underrated part of the Saiyan fight and I like your reasoning.

Freizer vs nail was amazing. It drew so much attention to how powerful Freezer was. Especially after Gohan and Krillen realised how strong Nail was when he was shown to be stronger than Vegeta. It put everything into perspective.

Gohan vs rekoum had his dad in mind cuz kid goku always saved the day. Thats why it was made especially brutal to show how crushing it was for gohan
The neck crack at the end was brutal, let alone everything before that!
Now the real one sided fight is Pui Pui vs Vegeta. Had the greatest hits playing as he destroyed the poor gray fish guy thingy.
That was the honorary number 11. I love that fight for how meta the fight was at the start! If I didn't have so much Vegeta already on the list, he probably would have made it over the Krillin/Pintar fight.

I was actually going to put that one, but when I rewatched the fight, Yamcha actually kicked the Saibamen to the curb before it blew up, so it was technically pretty even

4:22 Frieza does the batman punch to nail Nail lol good choices though Vegeta vs Frieza could've mirrored Zarbon vs Vegeta rounds 1 and 2. (Vegeta losing by plot on Earth but that beating he took on namek by Frieza made him cry).
There were so many good options from Namek! It was surprisingly hard to to choose 10, so I can't argue against the Freeza beatdown being a top pick.
You Still got a thumbs up because you work so hard. But I was bored. But at least I'm no longer dissapointed.

That was another one I was thinking of that barely missed out. I tried to balance characters as much as I could, so the Cell beatdown ended up edging that out, even though I like the Frieza saga more than the Cell Saga

My list is similar. The differences is because I take different things into consideration.
3: Vegeta vs Kid Buu. Vegeta risking his life both times to buy time for Goku to either recover stamina or charge the spirit bomb was really showing how he's changed for the better. At first it seemed he could have had almost a fair chance but that was dashed just as fast. Buu taunting him made it even worse in the first fight. The second showed just how tough Vegeta was, even giving Buu a shocked expression of how he kept getting back up.
4: Good Buu vs Evil Buu(Kid Buu?). Ok..Good Buu vs Evil Buu just was sad. Hercule befriending the seemingly misunderstood monster and teaching him right from wrong was a cool thing to see only for Buu's only real friend he's ever had be fatally injured, forcing out his evil to be manifested into its own form. He was completely outclassed by his evil counterpart, allowing evil to literally triumph over good. This was sorta replicated with the fight against Kid Buu depending on how you look at it. I think Kid's more playful and sadistic nature had him play the long game cause he could have ended that just as fast.
if you included movies, gogeta vs janemba should’ve been on there. janemba landed one single hit that didn’t even do anything before gogeta completely destroyed him. brutal.

The one thing that irks me is everyone says Goku is the strongest character in the world, yet in DBZ he has the worst win/loss ratio. Dragonball, he had very few losses but when Z rolls around he becomes god-awful.

Needed Piccolo's help to fight Raditz and had to die to beat him
Beat Nappa but was rendered unable to fight after getting crushed by Ozaru-Vegeta (And yes Goku never beat Vegeta suck it!)
Beat Reccome & Burda, but was tricked by Capt. Ginyu and after body-swapping issues got sidelined again
Half-assed beat Freiza so Future Trunks had to put him down
Lost to Android 19 and sidelined from illness until the Cell games where he forfeited against Cell and got his ass handed to him by the Cell Jrs. until he died to stop Cell
Defeated Pikkon in the filler arc so doesn't count
Spent the Buu saga essentially on day pass from being dead and got beat by Vegeta again
Spends the rest of Buu saga needing assists to try and beat Buu
Greatest hero my ass

android 20 actually drained a significant amount of energy from vegeta. If dr gero wouldve attacked he would have had the upperhand so i dont think it was that one sided.
That fight between Frieza and Nail is the reason Nail is in a good amount of the games
Every Z warrior has to get beat down at some point. This was just Videl’s acceptance into the group.
My favorite one sided fight has got to be Vegeta vs Perfect Cell. It's so satisfying seeing my favorite DBZ villain humiliate the arrogant Prince of Saiyans after he allowed him to achieve his Perfect Form.

Great list, but I would've added(honorable mention, perhaps?) Hercule... not him getting beat, instead the time he effortlessly took down a group of armed robbers in the Buu series. It's one of the few times you get to see the mighty Mr. Satan truly shine!

I've been trying to figure out at what point could Hercule have defeated Goku. I am pretty positive that he could at the beginning of Dragonball, but that he wouldn't be able to after Goku's first round of training with Roshi.

Perhaps. But even from the very start of DB, Goku was easily trolling large ferocious animals... including dinosaurs! As much as I wanna say yes to the idea, Goku's plot armor may simply be too thick to penetrate. Personally, I'm a little surprised Super didn't have an alternate universe where Hercule really WAS the strongest. But no, that idea instead went to the nightmare fuel that is Arale.

@@brandonprater4613 Oh yeah, you kinda have to ignore plot armour to compare them. Hercule is definitely faster than Goku since Hercule can flash step, something that Goku doesnt show any proficiency with until later. I did the math on noth of their strength and it definitely seems like Hercule has the edge over pre-training Goku... and now I feel like an idiot. I was running all over the place comparing feats and calculating weights all the while forgetting that Dragonball has one of the most in depth communities when it comes to how strong characters are (as long as you ignore the bs that gets thrown aroung).
The results that I got from the community as a whole match what I found though so that's a nice suprise. On the whole it is agreed that he is somewhere between a little less powerful than Nam to a little less powerful than General Blue. Plus he's got as much plot armour as Goku. So I'd have to say yeah, if he wanted to he could absolutely decimate 12 year old Goku.
(Also I thought Goku started DB much younger, he was darn near a teenager!)
Team "Vegeta messed up" is a pretty solid team to be on in a lot of situations.
Goku vs The #2 & 3 strongest members of Genyu force was tbh the most one sided fight to me lol. We saw how strong Racoom was and Jeuce and Burter were ranked stronger considering Jeuce was Genyus right hand man (apologies for bad spelling) and goku bodies them easily. Also mecha Frieza is debatably weaker then 1st form Frieza considering Mecha Friezas Death ball wasnt even 1/100th the size of his classic from 1st form.
Super Vegito vs Buuhan? Im genuinely surprised.
As a big fan of the Buu Saga, I was conflicted about not putting that one on. Since I said a lot of Frieza fights were artificially not one-sided since he held back mostly, I felt the same applied for the Vegito fight with Vegito holding back, even though the candy Vegito fight was an utter blowout. Still, a great one!

I actually did something like that back in 2013 when I first reached 10 lists, but being one of my earliest videos, it wasn't very good, so I'd enjoy doing something meta like that again!

It's interesting to note, Vegeta vs Zarbon Round 2, is one of the very few fights where Vegeta was purely on the defensive.
