it's acktchually a matchlock gun, which makes less sense since I doubt the wick would be burning for who knows how long since the ornate gun was set up and the first one makes sense because some other tomb raider got there first and set a booby trap
No a modern shotgun make more sense. Imagine building the whole tomb then "oh crap we forgot to design traps so let's just tie this not-a-gun with ropes and call it a day
I think it looked more like a horror movie scene, where a woman is running away from a serial killer. But yea it was definitely a bizarre censorship considering what they chose to favor instead
The mystic tomato could have been a dispute over art rights. The artists still own idea rights over the image so it could’ve been something along those lines. Same thing has happened to other cards hence why we got some super old cards very late into yugioh’s life.
@@jjquinn295 The name change alone would deal with that, as the original art looked nothing like the Killer Tomatoes movies or animated series. It is the *replacement* art that looks like a knock-off of the Killer Tomatoes franchise.

Some of the early Harpie Ladies escaped it for a bit. I have a Harpie Girl card from it's original release back in the mid 2000s that also isn't censored, so it's interesting how a few of them just escaped censorship for a bit
I honestly do use Tragedy in my circus deck that revolves around: Stumbling Level Limit Area A & B Labyrinth of Nightmare Crass Clown Dream Clown Blade Rabbit And a ton of cards that shift all monster positions.
In the 80s there was a series of movies named attack of the killer tomatoes and the the international release evokes more association with that because there have been animated series with similar design of the said series
I think taunt was based off of specific black people and could be seen as offensive as it looked close to tan black face. The two characters are kind of chris tucker and a famous boxer.
mystic tomato was a super weird censorship...... it goes opposite the way you'd think it would go. the jackolantern things was the jpn version. while the demonic tomato is actually the usa release
"Mystic Tomato" was called "Kira Tomato" (Killer Tomato) in Japanese. In the US, the movie "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" is a thing, so they changed the image and name to avoid copyright issues.
I really do have the impression that the last card was changed twice before releasing, once for localization, and again for censorship. As in, they did made it a "Killer Tomato" much more than in the original, but then they remembered that they couldn't call it Killer after all, so changed it once more.
It looks like the right hand of the woman in Tragedy was copypasted from the left hand with minor edits to make it a right hand. The reason for the edit to Double Trap Hole compared to Treacherous Trap Hole is how cartoonishly busty the doll in Double is compared to Treacherous. The best part about breast censorship in the card that Maiden of the Aqua was left unscathed along with 1st edition prints of Harpie Lady and Harpie Girl.
I honestly prefer the censored Axe of Despair, it still looks kind of creepy but you can't put your finger on why, the og one was just a straight up head
I think the reason it got changed it's cause 1. The original artwork kinda depicts an inverted star and 2. Halloween pumpkins. Still, it makes no sense that the replaced art is way more creepy.
Hey guys, great job, but have to say smth. Did you know, that Artifact Scythe was first TCG-exclusive and the OCG later made it more "revealing" when they got it.
I wonder if Mystic Tomato was censored to avoid copyright. Considering it's original name and art, barnes some resemblance to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
I imagine for Barrel behind the Door that the artist was just given the original art and was told to change the gun, and that was the only instruction.
Oh right! I forgot about that one. i mostly remembered the censored blood, but that indeed was another coffin edit. It was at least more clever than Foolish Return.
See... heres the deal wirth "Mystic" Tomato If you read the Japanese it says "Kira Tomato" (Killer Tomato) back in the 80s there was a movie and animated comedy tv show called Attack of the killer tomatoes, which was supposedly satire as tomatoes are harmless yet they were murdering people in bloody ways and you couldnt tell all you saw were tomatoes rolling aroudn the screen and people dying... There could have been a dispute over the rights as Killer Tomatoes are Copyrighted, the name change to "Mystic" is then Justified. However Konami went an extra step... as if to add Insult to Injury and changed the art of the now "Mystic" tomato to look more like actual appearance of the killer Tomatoes in the movie. So thats how that is.
We were serious that it was weird that she was just replaced with food while other cards just got breast reduction for the censorship and the other doll was completely unedited (even though the angle didn't show off her chest as much). Mostly, we just put it there for the meat since it was funny how they censored that one.
they made these cards as :"politically correct" as possible outside of Japan so that they would need to only have one International Artwork plate. makes them slightly cheaper to produce.
Makes sense because even if USA had fewer restrictions on showing let's say guns, alcohol, or religious images, if another country had a harsher restriction they wouldn't have to go make another edit. I wonder if they've ever changed a card for an LGBTQ+ reason, but I'm not sure what card(s) would even be deemed elligible for that.
To anyone who's reading this: I hope you can find yourself someone who cares about you just as much as whoever put that ridiculously extravagant golden gun in the booby-trap from the censored version of Barrel Behind The Door. That's what dedication and commitment look like.
Here is a cool idea, top ten anime cards that were better in real life, just compare there effects and summon conditions Also I love how much fun and how much personality you guys put into these videos, not like other top 10 videos I have seen where they feel and sound scripted, keep up the good work
Thank you! And that is a cool idea! I'd normally expect cards to be better in the anime, but there are some unexpected examples that got a massive upgrade in the TCG
6:39 Maybe that is the tragedy. This creation is released too early by a dark force and thus gets corrupted into a threat that will haunt humanity for the next 2000 years or sth. And the guy is dressed like Mr.X from RE to not look suspicious, maybe. That's at least the best I can come up with.
It's more or less about keeping parents happy because when push comes to shove upset parents will be a much bigger headache than just censoring some cards
Mystic Tomato likely got changed because it looks too close to the tomatoes in Attack of the Killing Tomatoes. It’s possible the movie is what inspired the card and they decided to change the name and artwork to avoid copyright issues, similar to how they changed magic cards to spells. I swear I’m the only person left in America who remembers this movie.
The last one, I have a few theories. 1) it could be that they didn't want to reference real world holidays 2) they thought it looked too much like a pumpkin rather than a tomato, with the fact the face is a jack-o-lantern, which are on pumpkins, and the red is a shade that makes it look almost orange.

not quite. it's that a mythical being that ate bad dreams was, when brought to japan, used as the name of tapirs, and went on to be thought of as a supernatural variety of tapirs(similar to several other supernatural versions of animals in japanese myth).
The funny thing about Konami gun censorship is that laser guns in fiction are described to be way more brutal then normal guns. In Star Wars Death troopers by Joe Scriber a character gets shot by a stormtroopers blaster and the book goes into gory detail about how the blaster shot melted half his face. He's also still alive. I know Joe Scriber writes a lot of gory scenes but the point still stands that while a gun will put a hole in you a laser gun will melt you.

Some of the early Harpie Ladies escaped it for a bit. I have a Harpie Girl card from it's original release back in the mid 2000s that also isn't censored, so it's interesting how a few of them just escaped censorship for a bit
Still got two of those, and a couple of Harpie Girls perfectly uncensored
I seriously can't be the only one that couldn't help but think of Pillar Men when Avatar of the Pot showed up.
I honestly do use Tragedy in my circus deck that revolves around:
Stumbling
Level Limit Area A & B
Labyrinth of Nightmare
Crass Clown
Dream Clown
Blade Rabbit
And a ton of cards that shift all monster positions.
In the 80s there was a series of movies named attack of the killer tomatoes and the the international release evokes more association with that because there have been animated series with similar design of the said series
Top 10 Obscure Forgotten TV shows
I think taunt was based off of specific black people and could be seen as offensive as it looked close to tan black face.
"There is nothing sexual about the tomato" is NOT a sentence i expected to hear... EVER

Instead of saying WHAMUUU,
he'd prolly say DRAW TWOOO
The blond guy on Taunt looks like a creepy, discount Ruby Rhod from The Fifth Element 😆
Wow, you're right!
Ogama Yellow still got eye sockets cause the nerves for his eyes still gotta meet his brain! XD
18:47 A Pillar Men
If you go for accuracy, I think an actual barrel in ”barrel behind the door” is more appropriate than a golden gun
I honestly prefer the censored Axe of Despair, it still looks kind of creepy but you can't put your finger on why, the og one was just a straight up head
The Cheerful Coffin actually was censored internationally. The Japanese version has a cross on it.
No one:
Konami: lets give a gun to this dragon…OMG a gun!!! turn it into a slashing weapon to disembowel foes so parents dont freak out
I think the reason it got changed it's cause 1. The original artwork kinda depicts an inverted star and 2. Halloween pumpkins.
Still, it makes no sense that the replaced art is way more creepy.
They didn't like the tomato because it wasn't scary enough but your censored days are over with Konami because I'm breaking it
At least we got Mystic Tomato 😐
Love it this is why i subbed! keeping up its quality! :3
Thank you!
@@MrTopTenList Been following you for years. Always comfy lists. Keep up the good work my dudes!
The woman from Dramatic Rescue also was gifted with more clothes
Hey guys, great job, but have to say smth.
Did you know, that Artifact Scythe was first TCG-exclusive and the OCG later made it more "revealing" when they got it.
Ah, so he really just wanted to stretch his legs this whole time lol
Konami did a 180 on the gun dragons with the Rokket/Borrel Archetypes. When Rokket/Borrel came out, they said "F**k it, thats too much work."
I wonder if Mystic Tomato was censored to avoid copyright. Considering it's original name and art, barnes some resemblance to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
That does make sense!!!
For token sundae why didn’t they just change the colour maybe the cup design slightly and make it hot chocolate
For Tragedy why didn't they just replace the art with the tragedy mask from Greek dramas
Haha, yeah you said Yu Gi Oh would be next. All good my man I'll catch you on the next one.
Thanks!
I prefer the censored bagooska...
I imagine for Barrel behind the Door that the artist was just given the original art and was told to change the gun, and that was the only instruction.
From Number 10, Don't forget about Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll. Its coffin was replaced with a black gift box(or shoe box).
Oh right! I forgot about that one. i mostly remembered the censored blood, but that indeed was another coffin edit. It was at least more clever than Foolish Return.

What if women of capcom have a fighting game
Like SNK Heroines, but Capcom has a really solid pool to pull from too.
Chun Li would be the main face of course.
Capcom fighting girls and even Poison will be in there.
“Who cares about those boobs, look at those hips”
Ah, a woman of culture I see.
See... heres the deal wirth "Mystic" Tomato If you read the Japanese it says "Kira Tomato" (Killer Tomato) back in the 80s there was a movie and animated comedy tv show called Attack of the killer tomatoes, which was supposedly satire as tomatoes are harmless yet they were murdering people in bloody ways and you couldnt tell all you saw were tomatoes rolling aroudn the screen and people dying...
Was the "Double Trap Hole" bit a joke or did you seriously not understand how anti-boobs American censorship can be?
We were serious that it was weird that she was just replaced with food while other cards just got breast reduction for the censorship and the other doll was completely unedited (even though the angle didn't show off her chest as much). Mostly, we just put it there for the meat since it was funny how they censored that one.
Consistent with past Yugioh censorship would just be to cover them up.
But they're already covered on the toy.
So...?
It's coz the goblins are gonna F that doll
they made these cards as :"politically correct" as possible outside of Japan so that they would need to only have one International Artwork plate. makes them slightly cheaper to produce.
I left a can of soda on the counter for a day open and now it tastes flat. anyway, I can't believe how many toy guns Konami and 4 Kids censored.
they might have censored mystic tomato because of attack of the killer tomatoes
To anyone who's reading this: I hope you can find yourself someone who cares about you just as much as whoever put that ridiculously extravagant golden gun in the booby-trap from the censored version of Barrel Behind The Door. That's what dedication and commitment look like.
Konami: “Guns are bad. Censor them!”
Also Konami: “Performapal Gatlingoul has acceptable artwork.”
I love Gatling ghoul because of that reason he is one of the only cards with a just normal gun
Here is a cool idea, top ten anime cards that were better in real life, just compare there effects and summon conditions
Also I love how much fun and how much personality you guys put into these videos, not like other top 10 videos I have seen where they feel and sound scripted, keep up the good work
Thank you! And that is a cool idea! I'd normally expect cards to be better in the anime, but there are some unexpected examples that got a massive upgrade in the TCG
@@MrTopTenList here are a few, element hero Stratos, metal reflect slime, zushin the sleeping giant, and speedroid terror top
@@MrTopTenList phantom knights didn't have gy effs in the anime
All of the uncensored artwork Yu-Gi-Oh is my best one's because the uncensored one stands out the most the American version is not that good
Chad pot of greed doesnt exist.
*chad pot of greed*
1) it could be that they didn't want to reference real world holidays
2) they thought it looked too much like a pumpkin rather than a tomato, with the fact the face is a jack-o-lantern, which are on pumpkins, and the red is a shade that makes it look almost orange.
I think Mystic Tomato was changed because it resembles some of the Digimon at the time.

You also forgot to mention that that when they changed fortune lady wind they gave her thicker thighs. Also baguskas art has pillows because in Japan there's a myth that tapirs eat bad dreams.
not quite. it's that a mythical being that ate bad dreams was, when brought to japan, used as the name of tapirs, and went on to be thought of as a supernatural variety of tapirs(similar to several other supernatural versions of animals in japanese myth).
@@anonymousoff-brand7538 Fun fact: That's the "Baku" in Bakura's name.
