I've been riding for forty seven years. I don't remember ever being bored.
@willhall640 what's your secret? I don't usually get bored but did on this occasion.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs well for starters I drive too fast. That's according to my wife who's usually behind me giving me an update on my current speed at least twice a minute. Then when she's not with me I'm enjoying the experience so much I can't help but have fun and smile the whole time.
i was a bike courier in london for 10 years....those that have never done it wont EVER understand.. everyday ALL weather ALL winter.. at the end of that .. i couldnt face riding ANY bike... it took time to get some enthusiasm back.. starting with a harley something id never considered.. then slowlee im commuting on a scooter and now have royal enfield interceptor 650... you need a different bike and some friends to ride with its finding that combination... i take partner 97% of time on back.. its company.. our kids have grown up.. take binoculars and stop to look at wildlife helps break the monotony up..
@@pmay222 I have a vfr800 as well. I might actually get the RE interceptor next year. I love that bike.
I bet a lot of riders have this issue but would never admit to it! Without a purpose/destination riding becomes nothing more than a chore. I find I am going out less and less because I am bored of the same routes, unpredictable weather and no destination. Motorcycle camping is a great activity but it is something that requires a lot more time and thought. Coffee shops, biker events, churches, yet explored villages are all great destinations but you can quickly exhaust those too. Difficult one really. Thanks
I think I've explored most of Devon & Cornwall now. I'm getting small bike. The plan is to hire a campervan and take the bike on family holidays.
Also trying to book one motorcycle tour a year. Hopefully the US next year or a guided tour in Italy
Got very bored of the road. It was a chore, same roads, cafes, group rides trying to meet everyone's needs, road conditions etc etc. Sold my sports bike and bought a crf300l and now started greenlaning. Far more challenges to keep me entertained 😊
@@Knobblytyressoggysocks Good Idea and you can comfortably go quite far on a smaller bike.
The quicker you learn to not give a shit about what you think people may or may not think of you, the better your life will be.......to much brain internal thinking is dangerous. I ride on my own after riding in a group for over twenty years, and i can honestly say I've never been so happy!😊
I don't care what people think. I just didn't want a confrontation. It's best to avoid it. I've been a chef for almost 20 years. I've learnt to walk away from situations
Riding just for the sake of riding, just on the same roads, can get boring. I like to have a challenge or a place to go.
I agree. I'm going to Glastonbury soon. I can go through Exmoor, which I've done a few times or on the motorway. I'll probably go through Exmoor & will do a few miles that will be new to me.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs Try never ever riding a motorbike on a motorway, your life will be better for it... motorways and motorcycles may have letters in common, but should never be mixed!
Have you ever played..”oooooh, I’ve never been down this road before!”? Go down a road you done know, then another, then another and see where you end up. Look at the things, enjoy the things. 🎉
@motodevcam I do that all the time on the himalayan. I think I need a target and some riding buddies (which I have) but I should go out with them more often
We haven’t been out for ages. Should definitely arrange something. I have ADHD so I’m very, very bad at remembering to be sociable. So you might have to poke me. Also sometimes quite hard to get the bike out. Always something easier to do.
I have autism. We a match made in heaven.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs A fellow autist biker with no riding buddies 👍🏻 There are dozens of us 🤣

Don't Have them Anymore
You're not alone. Without a purpose, it can quickly become a case of "What's the point" .. you'll bounce back at some point
I started to enjoy the ride when I was thinking about the hot dog 😆
Yep, agree.
This^. I can’t just go for a ‘ride around the block’. At least not on a modern bike. It can be more interesting on a ropey old bike though!
@CHuzz7777 definitely and funny enough, that's what I'm doing today.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs Ace 👍
I’m 64. I’ve been riding bikes since 16 (Mobylette moped) I’ve had over fifty bikes in my time. I ended up only riding for transportation reasons. I then had a break from bikes for about ten years. I then bought a Honda Grom. I’m now enjoying riding again. Pushing the Grom to go longer distances. Everyone is different you just need to find your biking mojo again. Goodluck I hope it works out for you.. 🙂👍
@android4219 I almost bought a Honda Monkey but changed my mind at the last minute. Small motorcycles are fun.
I've been there like most of us have. I found myself just doing the same old routes talking bollocks with the same old people and thought I may as well get an MX5 or something. Then I childishly played a game of opening a map, closing my eyes and stick a pin in. Wherever it landed I HAD to ride there. Depending on the distance it was either a day ride or a b&b. The funny thing is that the destinations such as Walsall, Preston, Chatham, Leicester etc turned out to be the most fun! Also adding a 125 Monkey Bike has encouraged me to nip out for cheeky 40 mile rides round lanes before bed!
Sounds like fun. Maybe I should try that.
Glad to see you survived Leicester (Less-Tar to the locals).
I never get bored, ride off road and enduro type tracks.each ride is hard exercise ,an adventure and a challenge as well as amazing scenery!
My himalayan isn't great off road. I'm hoping to get a c90 this year. I'll do some extreme riding on that beast
After over a decade on sportbikes... the love of riding died out.
Until... (never thought I'd ever buy these types of bikes...) I have now got... Versys 650 GT... ADV350... CRF250L and a Classic 350... all great for riding, well recommended. I can commute/tour/weekend blast... all great machines.
I can understand that. I heard great things about the classic 350.
I ride everyday in all weathers and love every minute of it, have done for 30 years.
What's your secret?
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs I don’t know, I just love riding bikes
I've just seen your video, and read all the comments, I agree with it all. The weather has been awful this year for one thing, and on a recent visit to a bike meet, got into a "conversation" with some guy who had this bike, that bike, gone here, gone there, you know the type, they've done it all !! So yes, enthusiasm for biking can dip.
That's a lot of comments to read. Yes, I'm reading this from work on an overcast & wet day. It's not encouraging me to go for a nice ride
When me and my misses gets no kid time, she pulls out a paint brush.
We all get times we don't feel it. Perfectly normal.
Good to see you out. You should have come and see me, ohh I get the message😢😂
I was thinking about seeing you but didn't know when I was going out
I empathise. I returned to biking about 25 years ago in my 40s and hooked up with a few other local guys for rideouts to cafes, pubs, beauty spots etc often ending up chatting to other bikers about what? Bikes! I quickly got bored of it and felt the need for a purpose to the ride, like visiting friends, family, collecting something I'd bought on eBay etc. Roll forward 25 years and I discovered blood bikes here in Powys and l'm now a volunteer rider so I get to ride one of their bikes all over Powys and into Herefordshire and Shropshire burning fossil fuel for a worthwhile purpose instead of riding round in circles just for the sake of it. I also use my own bike for visiting my kids who are 50 and 70 miles away. I've got a Himalayan which I'm about to sell as it's being replaced by a CB500x and they're both 80+mpg bikes so there's a saving on CO2 etc and cash. Happy days.
I rode the cb500x. They are decent bikes and faster than the Himalayan. Congratulations on being a blood biker. That's a worthy cause
I have had these feelings this year and I put it down to the weather entirely. It has been appalling
I think it probably is due to the weather. I'm usually up at first light and on the bike. It's been disappointing
I think your comment is spot on. We have had dire weather in Warwickshire since *June 2023* and this year is no better. I actually hanker to get out on a bike.
So go greenlaning.
@@zzebowa I do occasionally.
Only been riding a few years and always have a reason to go out riding and always like to have a plan in the works.
P.s Sure I like the odd no point ride but very seldom I do that always has to be a plan. Either food, see a friend, filming, historical spot, touring, camping...
Mine is usually to commute or film. I didn't have my camera on for the first half of this ride. Maybe it was that, maybe its the bike.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs and could be one of those days. There's the saying "too much of a good thing".
I like to cycle/run do other things so always find the riding fresh. But yeah if you are commuting that could be a factor.
@@mauriceridesout I play the guitar and cycle. It's good to keep busy
And this is why I’m always find stuff. I very rarely “just go for a ride” unless it’s a genuine explore. I’m using the bike and enjoying it that way. The bike is perfect for that. 😎
I often go with Tracey to check out stuff or after, once I have found out the score.
I love exploring on the himalayan. Maybe I'll use the himalayan for commuting and exploring from now on and the vfr for longer rides
Hi, I'm from The Netherlands. Open country views all over the place. Did a car drive through the UK, came from a holiday in Schotland. Terribly boring driving because of all the hedges and walls on both sides of the road. Not seen any nice country views because of this. I also drove on roads along the "lake district". Never seen a lake. I see the same situation in RUclips video's from bike riding in the UK. Just green tunnels and gullies. Never ever seen a country like this. Why is everything in the UK hidden behind hedges and walls?
Look up Dartmoor & you'll see where I was heading. That's very open and barron
@@PeterHolland-mu7yn I was in Paris last year. I enjoyed the food. I'm going to Italy next year & possibly the US
Everyone keeps repeating that British countryside is the greenest while wilderness quality map of Europe and wilderness continuum map of Europe might say otherwise. The hedge ridges make the whole country look like urban park. Red houses everywhere also makes it look like a depressing Super Mario game and not a real world. Enclosure Movement might be another factor.
Good point, there are exceptions but yes mostly all you see is road and hedge rows and then houses lol.
I had/have this problem, after a few years of riding u have done all local routes so many times and u just need new ones to spice things up. Plan to go somewhere, plan a new route, for me it sometimes means driving into the netherlands or germany (im from belgium) or just make my gps do a random 3 hour loop. Doing the same thing just gets boring.
I recently took a motorcycle (vfr800) on the motorway for the first time and I actually enjoyed it. Further distances are more likely now because of that.
Hi Adam.
I've been riding motorcycles for 52 years since 1972 and never get bored riding my three bikes. I use my Himalayan for going to places I wouldn't dream of taking my road bikes so start looking for tracks and side roads which will take you to little villages and Hamlets. Anyway, a planned trip to Dartmoor would be better on the VFR and once you've been there too many times you would feel bored and think what the hell am I doing? That's probably why you turned around.
Pastures new is my best recommendation and go in the opposite direction next time.
Go up North 🤢 Bridgwater is up there.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs That's south for me.
Guiding a new rider keeps it fresh, they'll want you to go out with them in any weather.
My wife is talking about getting her licence. I can disappoint her twice in one day then 😆
Hey I think we have all hit that boredom wall, especially when you are a content creator. I think sometimes you just have to get out and ride rather than ride to create content, hope that makes sense. Anyway don't give up, subscribed 👍🏻
@MrSTAdventures thanks for subscribing. I also commute to work on my motorcycle. I don't film that because I live 10 minutes away from work. Usually this time of year, I plan fantastic rides but it's been an awful summer. I haven't seen a blue sky in over a week.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs I know the feeling re the summer. I went up to the Lightweight Adventure Festival in Derbyshire last week and it was bloody freezing cold, dark skies etc. Although the weather was shite it didn't dampen my spirits as it was a great event. I have left a comment on your 200 mile ride video re the audio/wind noise, hope this might help 👍🏻

Get an old bike and do all the maintenance and repairs on it. I have three bikes that I’ve owned for over 30years and I’ve pretty much rebuilt all of them, riding takes on a completely different dimension when you’ve put your heart, blood sweat and tears into them. You have a huge sense of fulfilment and understanding them mechanically instills a wonderment that they can move you down the road at all!! Non of my bikes were seen as desirable when I bought them (1975 Voskhod 175, 1988 CZ350, 1978 Triumph Tiger) so were very very cheap. The Voskhod was touted by the press as being the worst motorcycle in the world at the time but I love every minute I ride it!!!
I’ve ridden the Triumph and CZ all over France camping and the Voskhod all over the UK.
I'm building a c90 later this year. I have a friend who can build engines, so he's helping with that. My daughter got attached to a Bandit I had because she helped me restore it.
all that and no BLOODY hot dog Id be pissed!!!!
I never got that sausage in me
Try asking yourself the opposite question " what made it so thrilling when I first started?" . We sometimes just forget.
@@fireatwill8143 because I love exploring. I don't drive a car, so motorcycles were my freedom.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogsthere you go, Then Start exploring again, you live in a big country, start exploring it.
Trust you to get lost an hour away from your house 😂😂 The thing with going to Wales or Scotland is you have to do the boring bits of road before you get to the good exciting roads.
I'm doing to Glastonbury the quick way soon 😟 that will be boring
Get out more on the bike on your own you'll suddenly find you'll enjoy your own company. Better than that you'll not fall out with anyone. Alan Northern Ireland 😂
I have very limited amount of time because of my kids. I love spending time with them. I keep myself fit, so hopefully I'll have a few riding years left when they are older. I do plan on doing 1 tour a year now though. Got my money situation sorted
So, I got this from the Collecting Cars podcast, but spend an afternoon making a list of all the places, events, roads etc you want to visit. Then when you’re procrastinating you already have the ‘todo’ list so just pick one that fits in with the weather and time available
That's a good idea
I ride in a group every Wednesday, the social side, bacon sandwich and coffee makes the ride more enjoyable.
The ride I look forward to the most is the 1 social ride I go on. Thanks for subscribing if that was you.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs I *never* group ride. I enjoy solo, and from what I see it is way safer.
Great topic! I have been feeling that way too these last few weeks & was even considering selling my bike. Thought maybe I was out of my hooligan phase, but remembering the feeling when I'm on a long trip out away from my local area, let me know I'd really miss riding. I think it's probably a phase I'm going through.
It's probably a phase. I think I'll be ok. Just need some sunshine and new roads.
I have moments like this.. especially on big rides where you are getting to the place or heading home. I visit new parts of the country each ride, rarely go back within the same year and I’m partial to changing bikes but even then, I get spells of “ I’m bored” .. considering a short break to reignite my passion!
I'm going to Scotland next year. The plan is to buy a bike and ride back. It depends on money because I'm also building a c90 and have to trips planned. Potential promotion at work though. That will make me a few more quid
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs I definitely think the key to life is having things to look forward to !

I was talking about you in a vid I made today which comes out a bit later. Nothing wrong with you son except you need to start living. Jump into life and start spashing about you'll find your groove . A smooth lake is pretty, peaceful and boring...make some waves.
It's difficult when my wife works full time and we have 2 young children. We used to do all sorts when we were younger. We still do a lot now but with the kids, so that means no motorcycle. For example, my daughter wanted to eat Macrons in Paris, so we took her to Paris and ate them under the Eiffel Tower. My son wants to have tacos in the snow, so we are going to Scotland. Not a happy camper but sometimes we get bored for reasons that aren't obvious to us. That's life, the wheel turns and tomorrow seems full of promise. As for being bored on a bike, it doesn't happen to me. Find an old Kawasaki Mach 3; 500cc, 3 cylinder 2-stroke. Ride that and you will be too scared to be bored! I still remember that bike and I am 70 years old. (Don't like that word 'old').
I just had a blast on my vfr800. Seems I'm bored of the himalayan. I'm either building a c90 from parts or restoring a c90 later this year.
I know how intimidating Barry can be at the Common🤣🤣🤣
I don't know who Barry is but I think I should avoid him too.
😂
It can get boring riding on the same roads, thats why I switched to a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, now I can get back to riding on dirt roads too ☺
I almost bought one of those but I got a vfr800 instead. I wanted a bike that can do everything the himalayan can't do and nothing the himalayan can do.
Gotta look for an adventure rather than just riding aimlessly i guess?
Im on the fence about getting back on a motirbike , had a 20 year break after having a kid but tbh i was getting bored too back then.
Im into emtb now and enjoying it more than the motorcycle tbh, cheaper to run and can go pretty much anywhere i want away from cars, discovering new routes off road is challenging and frustrating at times but once i find a good route and get to see some lovely places not accessible by car or motirbike ( legally anyway lol ) its really rewarding and taking a mate along occasionally mixes it up too.
What is emtb? A lot of people stop when they have kids, that's when I started.
riding aimlessly can get boring.after a lifetime of riding i often feel the same.when its good its good...but

Small steps to get back in to it where possible 😊
Mmmm, that WAS a bit of a gloomy spiel. Hopefully, you've got your Mojo working again and feeling full of beans. As for me, I'm always tired, but riding my bike is the one thing that gets me going again. Anyhow, fancy a meet-up somewhere in the middle?😉
@CornishMotorcycleDiaries I'm always up for a meet up. Maybe Saddlebags73 can join us
It may be useful to look at why you need the stimulus. If you feel you need to be doing something all the time then you've become a slave to your mind. Try sitting with this bored mind and figure out where it is coming from.
I have a very physically & mentally demanding job (chef in the army) I also have borderline autism so don't get excited easily. I'm fun at parties 😆
You have the ideal bike for green lanes, that will take the edge of your boredom.
You should watch my greenlaning video 😆
I sold my motorcycle when I started a family. When I was 66 I figured they could manage without me and bought a motorcycle again. Here in Denmark the yearly fatality per 100,000 motorcycles is 11. In the UK it is 26. What are you doing?
England has a lot of idiots, both car drivers and motorcycists. I see it every day.
I always like to have a purpose or a destination when riding, sisnce getting my new bike I have gone on a few rides where there was no direction or bacon sarnie at the end and although I enjoyed riding, those rides are not for me and I find them frustrating sometimes.
Go places, you got the VFR to do that, so go do it. You live in a stunning part of the world and so many places are within the reach of the VFR even if you only have a few hours spare. Dartmoor is very lovely, but so are all the other nooks and crannies along the coast.... or just head south or west. I am hugely envious of your playground 🙂
Biking stagnates quite quickly if you do the same over and over, and although I love riding solo, it is also really nice to ride with mates too, or at least meet up with them. It is one of the reasons I like the bike night at the West Beach Cafe, I get a nice spin on the bike, good food and get to hang out with Phil or Pez or whoever is free that eve.
I nearly quit biking as it all stagnated for me too in around 2013/2014 after a Europe trip on the bike, the UK just seemed dull... but I got my love back by going places to see things I wanted to see and finding good biking routes to get to them.
Am sure you'll snap out of the funk if you can give it some purpose.
I just don't think I'm as passionate as when everything was new. I have to push myself some more. I have a few good ideas & locations planned

Never went anywhere without my Belstaff jacket and Rukka oilskin over-trousers when I lived in the Lake District - no lakes without rain, innit.
I completely understand what you mean. I've done ~ 60.000kms the last 3.5 years on my motorcycle.
I know every corner and interesting street in a radius of ~ 300 - 400km from home.
I've done a few multi day trips - I still enjoy that - but don't have the time to do that often unfortunately...maybe 2-3 times a year.
Currently, I'm thinking of buying a different bike..but I don't think that this will help long term.
Going offroad is also strictly forbidden where I live..and I also already know every legal gravel road too...(there aren't many).
You summed up how I feel. The Himalayan isn't ideal for what off-roading I want to do, so I'm buying a honda c90. I have a vfr800 that I enjoy. It's good to mix it up a bit. I'm going to start doing 1 tour a year. I don't have the time for more.

I enjoy riding no matter what tge situation is outside or where the destination will be it's a great stress reliever for me even though you get stressed so sometimes of what you come across down the road usually the bad drivers 😂.
I can't quit. I ride every day. I probably could have explained myself better. I'm not as passionate but that's probably because I'm more relaxed riding now & it's not new to me now. I do still love riding. I think I was just bored that day.
Ah, the Torrington Common Biker hangout. Now you know it's cash only. If we're going out early that way, we stop for coffee there. Very reasonably priced and nice people.
I could be wrong but I think you need riding mates to meet up with, plus there's a lot of Devon and .Cornwall to explore. If you have a mate and a food or coffee destination in mind or the mindset to get lost, the fun is there to be had.
Go forth young man, get a sausage inside you and be naughty.😂
I think I do need a riding partner. I think I'm getting social in my old age
I never get bored, only that my back felt uncomfortable after two hours of non-stop riding. huhuhuhu
@@songkok7hitam what do you ride?
"I want the sausage in me" - literally what your wife was thinking and then you went out for a motorcycle ride lol.
And then you said you find riding boring... which... makes me wonder... what you think of grown up time with the wife... duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude lol
@@YouMotorcycle I made it up to her since 😆
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs attaboy!
Why are you getting bored of riding your motorcycles? Easy answer; you are riding a boring motorcycles to boring places over boring routes.
@livewire.. Dartmoor is one of the best places in the UK & where I ride is regarded as a place of spectacular natural beauty. You might be right about the bike though 🤔
Where do you ride and what do you ride? Just curious.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs K1600GTL, R1200GSA, R1100R. My riding areas are Ontario, Canada and the New England states in the US. I have also ridden in the mid and southwest, i.e. Utah, Arizona, California, Nevada, Colorado
@@livewire.. I might be riding from Boise to Moab next year. I can't wait.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs That is a day ride. How long will you be in the US?
@@livewire.. maybe 2 weeks. I'll spend the first day in boise, 2 days riding to Moab, a few days in Moab & 2 days back.
Boredom is probably because you are on the wrong bike, been there and done that myself
@@andyc750 maybe. I've been riding my vfr800 since then
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs try test riding something completely different, I was the same and then tried something completely different and found the fun that was missing, for me it was a Harley sportster, slow etc but so much fun to ride, look outside your comfort zone
no wonder your bored your on a Himalayan ,had one for a very short time
I enjoy the himalayan but I think its best in narrow country lanes. Maybe I should have taken my vfr800
Perhaps the Himalayan is a boring bike? I couldn't ride one, far too under powered and slow. It would totally demotivate me.
I enjoy the himalayan but I probably would have made it to Dartmoor if I was on the vfr. I only took the himalayan because I needed the charger & haven't set one up on the vfr yet
Firstly never give two flying monkeys about what anyone else thinks of you, sod em. Maybe you just need to go further afield or even just find new people to ride with occasionally. Sometimes you can just have a laugh riding with different folk and the moment becomes about the journey not just the ride 👍
I'm going further afield. Booking a holiday to Edinburgh next year and I plan on buying a bike to ride back on.
Sad ending - no sausage in you 😢
Sorry about Barry 🤷🏻♂️
Bored on the bike? Just a phase 👍🏼
No sausage sadly. I even went to a shop for one of those roll over hot dogs and they sold out.

Turning down the missus for a bike ride, then making a video about being bored of riding? Sounds like there’s something else you need to work through here mate.

Is it because you're riding a 25 hp, 250kg bike?
@jonm7272 it's a good bike but I was on the wrong roads for it. Should have taken my vfr800.
250 kilo? WTF?? 🤔
@@kenbrooks7794sorry, I forgot that the rider weighs zero kilos and that fuel and oil also weigh nothing.

Boring bike, boring place?
Dartmoor is amazing. The Himalayan is decent. It's better on narrow lanes. Maybe I should have taken the vfr800
Maybe bored with 24HP?
@markbd9775 I have a vfr800 as well. It might have been different if I was riding that
why you not carry cash ?????

@agrajag868 it's a 411 but your point still holds up. I think I was & still am fed up with the weather. Its raining as I type this. Its meant to be hot & sunny
411, apologies, What's your other bike, last bike I bought was the older cb500,
I came to really like it,
you could ride it like a tourer and if needed it would lift it's skirt and go,
good for when jack the lad is troublesome and you can just pass the car Infront and he can't.
Why are you getting bored? Because you ride a Himalayan 😂
@Pommo70 let me guess. You have a sports bike and wash it more than you ride it?
Absolutely not. I ride a Triumph Thunderbird and I do get what your saying but what I’ve realised (through being socially awkward) is that if you ride on your own, then you probably need something exhilarating or exciting to raise your heart rate a little and make the same roads a little more exciting. Go on a test ride on a much quicker bike along the same roads, then come back and say you’re bored of riding.
@Pommo70 I was only giving you back a bit of banter. I also have a Honda vfr800fi. I bought it because I was getting bored of the himalayan. It made me appreciate the Himalayan more. I think I should just use the himalayan for exploring the lanes and the vfr for rides like the one in this video.
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs No probs with the banter, I love the VFR, nothing like the V4 sound. You should ride that more. FAST. 😂 I hope this feeling of getting bored passes for you because we need more motorcyclists, not less.
@Pommo70 I'll never quit. I do ride the vfr fast but don't leave evidence😉
No offence but the boredom for me would purely be centred around the type of bike 🤔
@@daveo9844 don't worry, you're not the first person to say that
Have you tried blue pills?
You could try joining your local IAM group. That will put lead in your riding...
I can't be bothered with that and I'll throw a hissy fit if my riding is cristised.
