Glad you made this video…. I stopped watching “said family” the more money they made the more unrelatable and stuck up they got.
You guys kept it real ❤

We were devastated when you stopped travelling unlike said family we stopped watching them because even from our lounge room we could see they had become YT snobs. Other creators shared time together which from a viewer point of view saw them as down to earth Aussies. Showing your every day life with no fancy dresses and loads of makeup and enough jewellery to look like a tackle box, your children were always well maintained, this made you part of our lives you shared the raw truth about travelling.
We love you guys and are proud to say we are part of your YT family and wish you every success in your future ventures, just remember to take us with you.
    Kind Regards
    Jenny

Hey, love u guys so honest and down to earth. Its ashame you have got to put up with antics of said family. I stopped watching said family a couple of years ago as they become too commericalised pushing all these products. It a bit like watching commercial tv.
Wish you guys all the best with future adventures. Keep up the good wwork.

You guys are more genuine then any other big travelling families, the others are too commercialized for my liking, It feels like they are just a travelling advertising board. Your family is more down to earth and a lot more enjoyable to watch.

Like many others have commented, I too stopped watching “the other family” a long time ago as it was basically a series of hawking merch and “look at what we’ve got” videos. They also don’t come across well at all these days. They’re now on the “don’t watch pile alongside the Titanium couple and your mates n The Lotus! Will be interesting to see how they respond to their brand being questioned!

It's great to see this ep BOE ! The market is flooded now with noise and rubbish. It was great to see you guys run different trips to different locations which weren't super pumped adverts, but family adventures. I am really disappointed my wife and I didnt say hello at Punsand Bay in 2020, we were super nervous and a little shy. I am really looking forward to your next adventures. Goodluck with the property hunt. Maybe, and I know this is like "show us ya rig " eps, but maybe have visitors show their setups, or tips they have, for everyone to enjoy. Non-biased, real people with their real families and lives with great recipes, or trick to pack up their gear or gadgets they can't live without (my wife loves a gadget). Whatever amazing ideas you come up with, enjoy all the things. You both look and sounds great, even with the snot :P

Congrats on your wedding, guys. It’s great to see you all looking so well and happy. But, and I don’t intend to offend you, it took you such a long time to deliver your message in this video. You could have said what you needed in about 10minutes. What you went through was totally normal and to be expected. I have to say, I was also disappointed with your party story; this is also part of life and something all families go through; resilience and good grace would have been a better way to handle this rather than bad mouthing another family, who are people, not your competition.
I’m looking forward to seeing where you all go from here. Happy days! 😊

Our paths crossed briefly at the Cygnet Bay pearl farm where you brought your pendant. We had a very brief chat but Jack was not playing the game at the time. It's great to see you guys settled into a new phase of your life. I think why some of the other RUclipsrs will be losing following is because they have lost the image of being down to basics normal people in that people don't relate to them anymore with their mega expensive rigs etc that are out unobtainable to Joe average. You guys did it in a affordable setup that made people think we can do that! Very interesting hearing about the reality of try to keep the cashflow rolling in while on the road. The environment has changed big time with so many other "me to" travellers as well as not having the travel restrictions so we can now travel freely overseas again. You did it at a unique time and in a way had a captive audience. I also believe that there comes a time where the children of the travelling families need to have more social interaction with other kids (schools, sports etc) and there comes a time when all travellers need a base camp for a period of time. Thanks for sharing the reality of being a social media slave revealing the positives and the negatives. We have very good friends who's son has a very big 4x4 social media presence and see the challenges that go with it. Enjoy planning your new venture and when it's up and running I am sure you will get plenty of support.
P.S DO you still have a van parked up or did you sell it?

    • @BigOzExplorers
      @BigOzExplorers  7 месяцев назад +3

Thank you for your feedback & totally agree. We have sold the van (for now) there was no point having an expensive asset sitting for a year being unused and aging! We don’t need something that grand with only short trips now and a plan to set up stumps 😊😊

We travelled as a family in 2019 and one of the stand out places was little roper stock camp in mataranka. It was a basic bush type setup with hot showers and toilets, some farm animals, a communal camp fire, you had the choice to go have breakfast by the fire at a small cost. We met some really good people. Just remember whatever you do in the future don't go too crazy. Some of the best places/memories come from the simple places, but a communal camp fire brings most together. It's also one place that our kids still remember forever. Look forward to seeing your future Big Oz

I’ve followed you from the beginning and was sad to see you stop travelling. But had assumed a lot of what you talked about in your video, and is completely understandable.
As for that other family that we won’t mention. I always thought you guys were the real deal and not fake like them. Which was why I unsubscribed from them a long time ago. Their videos felt like nothing more than a look at me type ad the entire time, whereas you guys were always relatable and down to Earth. So please don’t ever change that. (Which I don’t think you would). 😊

RUclips burnout is a very common thing so don't ever feel bad about putting the camera down. Watching your little montage, the thing that really stood out was how much your kids have grown. They will love re-watching all these vids as they get older. I'm excited about your future plans and will definitely book a visit with my van. Yes, I'm another one of those that you inspired to get out there. 🙂

What a great episode. It’s a shame on what you need to become to get places as a RUclipsr and it’s great that you’ve jumped off the train. Your kids deserve your time more than we do. I’ve always enjoyed your channel because of your personalities and the places you took us, but hey, you’re human too and reality needs to click in. Hope you can enjoy more travels and share it with us without the stress. We don’t need to see you same time each week, we’re already hooked. We’re about to start full time travel, but I will still be working my office job 40 hrs a week, so don’t need to sell my sole to the devil. You guys have really helped us sort out our rig and how to travel, so thank you.

I think most of you followers know who the said family are. We stopped watching them a long time ago to over the top and not real. He would have to be the most arrogant man I’ve ever layed my eyes on. I have watched you guys from day one and loved every show. We were sad when you left so happy to see you back. We would definitely come to stay at your camp when you get it set up. We wish you well in your next adventure. Good luck.

exactly why i stopped watching said family. Arrogant, and talks over her or shuts her down every time. And there was the episode where he ranted about people doing the same format as him. Greedy man.

Great to see you both again. I was once told that the key to motivation is turning a 'Have to into a Want to' - so the fact that are going to do this again because you want to as opposed to have to because of brand sponsors etc is great. Stay real to yourselves guys and l look forward to seeing whatever comes up next.

    Big shift in focus.
Depending on hectares, have you thought about:
    A mud track
    A hill climb
A drive through, 15A plug up, for overnight - no awning space (perhaps minimal space for outdoor cooking), been there, done that; just an overnight battery fill; Narrandera does this well
A drive through ensuite site - 2 nights max, been there done that; for caravan repairs or vehicle service; Gunnedah does this well
Cabins for travellers who have vehicle/caravan repairs go for a five days+; Mildura does this well, as well as having drive through sites with 15A and water
A great camp kitchen - I think that the quantity of washup tubs and space is key; one kettle, one fridge, one microwave for the poor backpackers
A charging shed, with 10A for charging portable Lithiums with an in-built BMS; 15A not required
Dump points for cassettes (just need one or two)
Large bins for compost toilet bags - it's not an offence to dump human waste in rubbish bins, but you need a BIG sign about how to package the waste
    Dog poo stations for bags
Potable water stations on the way in and way out; it's 50/50 - more on the way in for water poor, or for the top ups on the way out? The answer is easy
No petrol/diesel generator area unless it's 2Km away - charge 'em double
Get a local band to play at least once a week
Invite pop-up craft beer makers once or twice a week, this works well in Mallacoota
Engage the local pubs/RSL to provide bus runs
Will take away deliver to your area
I've been down to a place on the NSW South coast - WW and Coles will deliver to your site number.
Unpowered sites - I don't mind shade; I have 900Ah of Lithium, a 40A DC-DC charger and a 50A MPPT controller and lots of roof and portable solar; that said unpowered sites need to be a mix of shade and full sun, just provide some tap water for longer stays.
I trust that those observations help.
    Stu

You guys are brilliant. Been here for a while now. We first saw “that family” install a diesel heater and thought, how cool and in those days it seemed genuine, however not anymore. You guys have always stayed humble. We started our RUclips and went away for a epic 2 week adventure filmed a bunch of content as upon arriving home from an amazing holiday we were told our rental home of 10years (and supposed to never be sold, you are welcome to stay forever) was getting sold…. 😢
Anyway, so we never edited it or posted it as it’s been damage control for 6 months, the last 2 weeks off work finally allowed us to unpack some of belongings but we just don’t want to get settled in case these 6 month leases (with no stability) continue. What happened to 1-2year leases, bloody covid.
Our goal right now is downsize downsize some more and take these to storage if not needed. We want to take our kids for a 6month lap within the next 1-2years before they are too cool.
This was a bloody great episode, very much an opener and it’s quite true, the market is saturated. But the content is still great.
Keep it real, one day we will cross paths and have a beer or several.

Sorry had to go n cook dinner, love your honesty, perspective is a wonderful thing and as they say hindsight is 20/20 vision. Pretty sure that family has dropped off the radar too, maybe for similar reasons, they are very commercial too, sad that they are so shallow.
Found you both to be one of the few really honest content creators over the years.

It’s such a shame that the cooperative spirits is missing in some ways between Australian travelling families. I watch some US families e.g KYD and they are often catching up with other You tube families mentioning them having fun with them and there is obvious good will when they and promote each other. Keep going your plans sound great. Hope to visit one day.
