If you want to make extra sure the toilet is parallel to the way measure the distance from screws to the wall to make sure they're even BEFORE0ressing down on the wax seal
Should include a final flush so everyone gets an idea how the newer terlits flush/work. For example, the no-rim Toto ones, or the ones that advertise excellent bowl washdown from rim jets... Can't see them in action at DIY stores to see if they solve a particular problem at the expense of creating others with low water use.
@@missjackson5198could also be faulty pipes that could be corroded and causing it to smell. Could have your landlord come check it out or if you’re the owner you can contact a trusted plumber to check it out

That's why you have to leave a gap. A lot of plumbers don't want ANY caulk but imo that doesn't look as nice. At the very least, I want caulk around the front and on the side that faces the door.

That flange was almost too low too but was close if freaking plumbers would just put on top the tile like designed wouldn't have stuff like this , it's not you unless you plumbed house when built
You realize most professional plumbers compensate for tile. It's usually remolded bathrooms that have recessed flanges. They also make a spacer for that.
No to caulking the base. Even if you leave a gap at the back that doesn't guarantee you'll see a possible leak in time to prevent damage. I've seen leaking toilets damage cause tens of thousands of dollars of damage. It's rare but it happens.

He left a gap (no caulking) on the back side just in case down the road the wax seal starts to leak. That way, you can see that the toilet is leaking, instead of never seeing it until it's too late and the flooring is all rotted underneath because the water had no where to go.
Have you ever seen a leaking push on valve me ether and put a wax ring down 1st without a horn when the flange is below floor level to make sure it doesn't leak or so sewer gas can't escape

Well they decided to cancel the installation then th they just gave me the new toilet... anyways I installed it in my garage bathroom and it gets used often plus it has never failed to handle Pedro's Wednesday morning delivery after TACO TUESDAY... 😂😂😂😂 It's always a big load and it typically would leave shit shrapnel on the old bowl when used... but this new American Standard rinses up NICELY... P. S. 😂 they canceled because they got in a argument about it being elongated...
No, you don't use shims or caulk. If the force on the porcelain bowl is uneven, the whole bowl can crack. The correct procedure is to lay a thin bed of sanded grout before putting in the toilet, so the base will be fully and evenly supported. Ask any toilet nanufacturer, or old time tile mechanic.

I work on base and we use grout for the bottom of the toilets to match the floor but this is dope man

I've started using the newer rubber/wax rings. No more worry about shimming and leaking wax rings.

I stack coins under them and cauk them and there's never been an issue. People have been doing that for decades and it does not cause problems.
