21:42 Before, Luffy always said, "Don't touch my hat" because it's his treasure. Iconic because him giving it to Nami to hold on shows that he trusts her as a friend. ❤
Actually, it might seem that Nami's mom was stupid, but she's in fact very smart. She couldn't lie because she was a Marine and she knew what kind of pirate Arlong is. Just image. If she told a lie, not matter how convincing it was, how would Arlong react? He wouldn't trust any human. He would tear down the whole place just to search for any more residents. He'd be like, "do you think I'm dumb because I'm a fishman?" Then, he would kill her daughters in front of her before killing her. Giving up her tribute (hence her life) is the only way to save her daughters, as it gave Arlong the satisfaction he wanted. And she knew Arlong won't gave her much time. So, she just took her last opportunity to say how much she loved her daughters.
actually she did that because she dont want to lie being mother of nami anymore, because at the previous scene nami hate her to be her mother because she's poor. but also in the manga arlong just want to show to other people at coco village an example if they trying to confront him, they're just going to end up like bellemere. (sorry for my english)
Yeah, plus they would never have been able to escape the island, since Arlong and his crew are Fishmen. Any attempts to escape would have resulted in their raft or boat being sunk to the bottom of the ocean
In the anime has a better explanation. The Arlong crew was already happy with her money part, as they're leaving, she says that the money was for her daugthers not for her, she wanted to show that they are actually, a family. And that happened just after Nami left saying that they werent a real family. The real reason, is to show that they are a real family , she gave her life for it.
I mostly agree, but I am not sure that he would have killed her. He would have killed her daughters, for sure. But I can see him telling her: You did this!
Emily did absolutely amazing. If new One Piece watchers understand the significance of her asking his help and him giving her his hat, which is his greatest treasure, then they did their job right.
Nami's Mom couldn't bring herself to deny that she had a family after the fight they had earlier. "You're not my real Mom". In this situation, she should have lied about having daughters, but she just couldn't do it. It's so sad 😭😭
It depends on the mom on which thing would be harder. Lying or dying. I think she'd have lived up to her name, either way, but knowing they weren't her blood probably made it harder for her to disown them.
the writers did a good job on keeping the subtle things inside of the dialogue. like when nojiko still calls nami her sister even after the whole village, even herself, believe that nami betrayed them. she didn't stop loving her.

It felt almost like a Scorsese mafia dialogue dropped in the middle of a saturday morning cartoon. They have done a great job in live action. But I would recommend that when you finish, watching the Arlong arc in the anime. There are many nuances and things that make it much more intense and emotional. and the "help me" scene makes you cry hard..
U r right man anime nami story hits harder than this. There are so many small details that make it more intense and emotional and this live action hass used only 30% of it out of 100% that's what's i think.
I agree. The Nami/Arlong Park arc was done MUCH better in the anime... I feel like this live-action adaptation didn't do it justice. So much was missing (the significance of the pinwheel and why it's part of Nami's tattoo, for example) and there were some unnecessary changes that didn't need to be made (in the anime, Nojiko & the Villagers found out about Nami's intentions when she was still a child... did they really need to change that? That timing was one of the reasons why Nojiko got tattoos). You can skip most of the early episodes, but definitely gotta rewatch Arlong Park from beginning to end in the anime.
I think the reason it doesnt hit as hard is because of Luffy in the anime from episode 1 the dude is fighting and cocky up to episode 8 hes still fighting in the live action its alot more zoro fighting technically if Zoro did this part it probably would have hit more in the live action. Because you dont view Luffy as a badass that much in the live action but the anime he is from episode 1.

In anime they told that Aarlong honor money deals .. thats why she believed him .. but hes also a big racist and he wants to see 'humans' suffer - and that is stronger than his money-honor thing
Too be fair. Nami cheated first. Arlong took over the village fair and square. However Nami cheated in their card games! Even despite their crew's promise not to lie or cheat when it came to money. That she lost her money was really her own fault. I may be giving him too much credit. However I think Arlong may actually have honoured their deal if she brought him the money. Although I do suppose the deal a dumb little brat like Nami would make, would include that they could not just torture everyone to death after the village became hers/free. After all, she is still too weak to protect what has become hers.

One Piece thrives in the theme of "Found Family"
Who's Cream? 😂
You'd really like the anime, don't let the amount of episodes scare you lol
you still have not yet watched each strawhat crew story, specially going merry farewell.

You have a Friend's central perk, that's awesome, also , that "top" is really sexy, and my petite, gorgeous porcelain skinned, artistically tattooed girlfriend is getting one. I'll find it, but thank you for showing me. Love your content, I love those stupid jokes. I use them at work and they land.

When I first saw Nami, I thought she was Asian
One Piece gets everyone in the feels. Except the racist scumbags maybe
This is the worst series in the world, it has no connection at all, and it lacks a lot of important details that they never used. As for the real One Piece, the anime One Piece is just the best, nothing else, and the talk is over.
