Have you ever wanted to know what a typical Moscow apartment looks like? Come with me as I give you a guided tour of mine. I will show you around the building and the apartment itself. I will also show you where in Moscow it is located and explain how much it costs to live here.
Could you live here? How does it compare in size, location and cost to an apartment in your city?

“I don’t care how old my kitchen is or what it looks like” and “I’m a single guy living on my own - there’s nothing in my cupboards”. Sounds good. I remember the good days when I didn’t have to pretend to care about stuff like that! Decent channel, mate, keep it up.

My 24 year old granddaughter lives in a rented tenement flat in Bridgeton, Glasgow, a less salubrious part of the city, it’s 2 bedrooms with small kitchen and small bathroom and costs about the same as you’re paying for the centre of Moscow. However, her electricity (no gas) is more than £150 per month. She then has Council Tax of around £120 per month then internet to pay and that can vary but is normally around £30 upwards per month. It’s hard for the young in the U.K. these days and food prices have risen in the last 2 or 3 years. Your Moscow apartment looks fine for the money with a lot less overheads. If I were young again I would love to move there.

What I like about Russia is the reasonable prices for rental housing and utilities. I don’t know of a single European country where they gave an adequate price for housing. I don’t live in Moscow, but I live in Saratov - there is such a city on the Volga River. My apartment has a total area, including a balcony and a loggia, 106 square meters or 1141 square feet. The apartment consists of a living room, two bedrooms, a hallway, a kitchen, a shower room and a water closet. And I pay for my apartment, not counting tax, 8,500 rubles in winter and 5,000 rubles in summer. The annual property tax is 9,000 rubles. The apartment is located on the outskirts of the city and next to my house there is a large park that looks like a forest, or a forest that looks like a park. Many townspeople always relax there and there are many songbirds there.

Typical flats you will find in cheaper panel or block buildings of 5-14 floors, built in 1950-1980 (average dates) in so called ‘sleeping areas’. This building belongs to Stalin period and is built with far better materials (bricks) and approach (overall architecture) so till today people wish to buy an apartment there but it’s too expensive. This house was built in 1949 by the architect Zholtovsky. For it he received the Stalin Prize. So he's the only one. And these doors from each room to another cause a lot of controversy. I lived in this house, only in a different entrance." This is MUCH more in keeping with Russian apartments I have seen on RUclips. There's another guy named Russell who gets the realty agents' keys to lots of them to show, and they are a lot different than this... dingy, depressing places I wouldn't live for any amount of money including their whole neighborhoods. Those are the typical Moscow apartments.

I'm from Russia, St. Petersburg, but I've been living in the UK for a long time, I like that here people live in private houses with a garden. I live in London in 4 bedroom house with a large, beautiful garden. In St. Petersburg, I lived on the English Embankment overlooking the Neva river - this is a very beautiful place and near Alexander Park, the Hermitage and Nevsky Prospekt.

There are many modern apartments in Moscow too, but they are usually more expensive and in new buildings. This building is not bad at all especially a location, but it’s quite old and design is quite old too, if youd live in the building you see from your windows there could be same price but much less space :)

Like i said, im American, i see how other countries live more simply than us here in America. When raising my kids we had a 4000 sq ft house on 4 acres in the country, 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathroom, separate utility room for washer/dryer, two car garage. I think Russian and European countries would think it a mansion. We just call it a house .

Visited Russia in 2018. St Petersburg and Moscow centre but visited other areas too. We loved Moscow and the people and during our 2 week stay in the city found everywhere clean with high security. We liked it so much we intended to return for more holidays as it had so much to offer. We genuinely found we had rapport with the Russian people more than we often find in other countries. We visited numerous cities in China in 2029 and the "feel" was very different.

I grew up in Moscow, left it in early 90s, since 2002 we live in California.
What I can see it’s not a “typical” Moscow condo. Based on the look of the building and its location it’s what we call “Stalin’s building”. This was elite living in the Soviet times. To get a condo in such building you should be on some leading position in gov or be some kind of celebrity from science, theatre, artist, etc. No lumpens ever got to live in such buildings. The quality of the building was the best, and that’s why these buildings are still in a good shape. The condo was remodeled completely in 2000s, I guess based on the style and the furniture. The original layout was different. The entrance was leading to the long corridor and many doors to the isolated rooms and the bathroom and toilet were separated.
Regarding rent you pay about 75000 rub monthly which is very low for such size and location but the owner gives this rent just because they wanted you as a tenant 😏. I would love to have such tenant too 😂 single, foreign, no kids, no pets… dream tenant! The agent who brought you here got huge cut I’m sure.
Keep in mind that the average income in Moscow is around 100K rub, so such rent is not affordable for the average person.
In California I would pay about $3500-5000 per month for such size in a good safe place but the income there is much higher too, so everything is relative.
