It's called purchasing power parity - RUBLE is the most undervalued currency in the world right now, so you can imagine that if some people in Vladimir get the monthly salary of $600 they are considered wealthy. Everything is relative in this world.
Exactly. The reason she needs that food is because she is surviving on about $200/month. Average salary is $600. She could never afford that fridge. The ruble was once 20 to the dollar not so long ago. The currency was supported extensively after the sanctions, with banks and money lenders being shut down and the dollar only being exchanged with a large transaction fee- when the ruble lost half it's value, but there was a recovery to 100 rubles/dollar. The director of the Russian Treasury said that the measures taken were unsustainable and submitted her resignation. Putin refused to allow her exit. Now the Ruble is trading at 200/dollars on the foreign black market in Thailand, Vietnam, India. So since the war the Ruble is about 1/5th the value. The greatest impact is in foreign produced goods and imported foods.

In Canada, a hand basket the lady at 13:00 is carrying easily can cost 100 dollars. And that is not buying fancy, high end products but just basic groceries.
Great video. Please don’t move her. In my experience when the elderly get moved after living forever in one place, even if it is a nicer apartment, they will have a sudden health event and die shortly after moving. That move, is incredibly stressful on them, whether anyone knows that or not, it is. I’m 61, and 3 yrs ago my wife and I built and moved into our final home. It’s in a 55+ community. I see new neighbors move in from all corners of the US, and the elderly, say 75+, usually pass away within a few months. It’s that move that does it, and the shock of change. I think what you’ve done for her is already over the top. I suppose you can rinse and repeat and find another babushka to ultimately help support with these mitzvahs and kind acts. Again, great video, keep em coming
I think she would just get up each day and come back. It’s important to stay here and be around people she knows rather than being isolated in an apartment
You’re right. At 68 , even though I’d love to move, familiarity is becoming more and more important to me. I only realised that recently. So making changes to where I am is my aim now.
Я с вами согласна . Я тоже это заметила . Когда пожилой человек покидает свое старое место он долго не живёт. Даже если это место было не аккуратное. Но есть болезнь , когда люди собирают хлам и несут его домой .

I spent $186 earlier this evening in Australia. This didn't even fill half a trolley and this will be 2 weeks for one person.... and I don't even buy meat!
It’s a crazy world! In the UK it’s expensive too
Seriously ? 🤔 I am a pensioner in Russia (I can’t complain - I have a military pension, with all additional payments I get about 38 thousand rubles). I live alone, I could buy meat every day, but sometimes I take about 500-700 grams. pork, usually 2-3 times a week. I just don’t need it more often. I cook soup or make a roast.

Brilliant! I’m hooked…
Oh yes, a must to keep up mobility
You’re right. At 68 , even though I’d love to move, familiarity is becoming more and more important to me. I only realised that recently. So making changes to where I am is my aim now.
Я с вами согласна . Я тоже это заметила . Когда пожилой человек покидает свое старое место он долго не живёт. Даже если это место было не аккуратное. Но есть болезнь , когда люди собирают хлам и несут его домой .
Get a lot for your $59.41. Would say that shopping haul would be 3-4 times the price in Australia. At least. Very kind of you to support the wellbeing of your elderly neighbour. Well done Sam.
As a 70 year-old, you warm my heart, Sam❤😢.
God bless you Sam, grandma deserves a helping hand, that's what living in a community is all about. In Virginia USA $60 will get you a fraction of what you got.
I did this for my brother Sam, got him brand new apartment it looked showroom everything new colour matching the works, he let it all go to dirt and is now on the streets, sometimes people you can help but they have to at the same time help you help them.
God bless, Samuel. The hand of the giver will never fail
That was cheaper than England.

@@Juhani96 You are sadly mistaken if you think the average German is "rich". Those days are long gone. These days in Germany € 3000 upwards is a salary that most Germans dream of € 2 - 2,5 thousand is the norm. Besides I was comparing prices not wages. But obviously, Finns are rich. Btw. That much food would cost you between $150 to $250 maybe even close to $300 here in Canada . One 2L carton of 2% milk is $5.48 Ea 12 eggs $4.58 30 Pkg of eggs $17,12 EA Depending on the type white Bread $3.25 Ea a Large Veg Platter is $24 bucks and a 4.54 Kg bag of Potatoes is $5.99. Lets just say its expensive and yes we make more in wages but the cost of inflation is outpacing the money we make so people have to make tough choices at the grocery store now so we can pay for our mortgage and utilities. Not mention the price of petrol is $1.60 for a litre of gas
Should compare income too.
