  • In this video I discuss the cheapest fertilizer you can buy for your lawn, which is Urea. I also give you an update on my back yard that is currently recovering from being scalped at 0.5 inches, so I can maintain it at 1 inch this year. I will be reel mowing the backyard with a manual reel.
Skip to 4:29 to hear about this fertilizer.
Not only do I discuss the pros and cons of Urea, I also breakdown how you can dissolve your Urea into a liquid so it can be applied with a foliar application in small amounts. I also show how you apply that Urea with a backpack sprayer. This is also known as Spoon Feeding your grass.
I also compare Urea to Milorganite. Giving the pros and cons of each fertilizer.

I wanted to say thank you for this video.
Doing 1/4lb a week since August has made a huge improvement on my lawn. So much so that a few underperforming areas on my lawn look dramatically better - and now I know why.
When I was going my granular route, my subconscious cheapness intersected with my coverage game - and I believe I was under fertilizing areas of my lawn just to get a bag to stretch. 46-0-0 melted and sprayed weekly is the way to go.

Thanks for explaining why you add citric acid to the mix. I’ve seen other American channels also adding citric acid but they never explained why they were adding it. It’s interesting that your town water's pH is so high. I understand the utility companies often raise the water pH to avoid their metal pipes corroding over time, if it were to be even slightly acidic, but 9 is pretty high. Where I live in Australia, our town water is very close to a pH of 7. Looking forward to your videos as your growing season starts… while our growing season here in Australia is coming to an end. March 20 was our Autumn equinox. Cheers! 🇦🇺

My knowledge of Urea, comes from the Diesel engine particulate platforms most commercial tractors and consumer pick up trucks have to use the def (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) additions with there diesel fuel consumption. Looking at it I remembered that basically def fluid is mostly liquid nitrogen, which I believe at Walmart goes for around 15.00 per gallon. Would this be a suitable sub for a cheap alternative of liquid nitrogen ? Thx so much Steve

Awesome! Try to find a place to test your water Buffer pH. This way you won't guess anymore how much CA you need to get it to pH 7. And second, spraying normally goes in the middle of your previous pass, you point the wand at the last 'water' mark your previous pass did. Along edges I tilt my nozzle 45 degrees. This is the only place where overlapping does not naturally occur. Love the video quality! And your voice...you are sure you don't work at a radio station?

So every house like this, has a big bubble at each floor joist area where the siding isn’t as tight to the wall as the siding that’s hitting studs above and below.
Now you’ll all notice it and it will make you mad too!!!

@@LAWNLIFE Great video. I used this when I found some urea 46 at Rural King. It worked Great They don’t handle the urea 46 any more but have some s-sul sprayable ammonia sulphate. I bough two 51 lb bags at a great price but Don’t know how much to use.on my 10,000 Bermuda. I have a 15 gallon spray rig with a 5’ -4 sprayer boom. Any advice on the ammonium sulphate would be great

Nice video, but too expensive. I've used fresh pee for many years and it works great. Pee contains both urea and ammonia, so you also get a shot of nitrogen. I actually formulate the Jerry Baker recipes, but I switch the ammonia for pee.

@@LAWNLIFE Google it ... plenty of articles on using urine on lawns. It's so heavily diluted, there is no smell or danger. Less toxic on most lawn fertilizers.

$30 for a 50 pound bag or urea????? where? I'm seeing prices 3-4X that.

You can use lawn paint on those spots where the dog pees

Isn't there urea in dog (or all) pee?

    • @LAWNLIFE
      @LAWNLIFE  3 года назад +2

Yes, that's why around pee spots the grass looks so good. The dog just puts down too much urea (fertilizer burn) in the middle. When you put down the correct amount of urea, your grass will thrive instead of die.

Came hereto learn which organic item to buy but instead GOT LECTURED ON HIS DOG AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE PEE , JUST LET THE DOG RUIN LAWNS. Then he gave a lecture on nitrogen and how to spread the nitrogen combo mix! I stopped halfway because the other half will be a waste of my precious life ! Sum people are complete Gas and hot air.

The cheapest fertilizer you can get for your lawn are the lawn clippings themselves. Your type of grass would not benefit from the clippings staying behind, but everyone else should leave their clippings on the lawn which provide 75% of the fertilizer that lawn needs. Never collect clippings if you have larger varieties of grass. Urea now costs 30 bucks for a 50 lb bag and it can't be sitting around too long or you'll see the bag start to inflate with the Nitrogen that is getting out of the pellets, so it starts losing N right away.

Two sided mentality when it comes to the pee spots? My front lawn is way more manicured and taken care of then my back yard. I will have way more content with my front yard going forward. You'll be a lot more satisfied with that I think.
