Excellent advice. Had my 36 LSG for a month and the bottom seal is coming off. Putting it on the lid makes it much better.
My LSG pellet smoker gets delivered next week! I’m pumped.
Got built 12/22/22.
How are liking it??
@@txbluzmn really like it. Did a brisket for the first cook Saturday. Can’t believe how constant this thing smokes. My pit boss was a lot more up and down with puffs of smoke. This is just steady as can be.
Had an issue with my FireBoard probe ports. Only had 1 port plugged in, but it was reading as if I had 6 plugged in and giving me all kinds of crazy numbers on the other 5 which didn’t have a probe actually in them.
Also can’t figure out the connectivity. When I’m near the smoker my phone and app work great. But when I step away my phone/app doesn’t work.
So I got some electronic kinks to work out
When you're near the smoker, the Bluetooth is connected. You have to go into the settings on the app while the BT is connected and connect your smoker to your WiFi. then it will work everywhere.
Weird probe port issue - once you connect the wifi, it will update the firmware - or you can plug it in to your pc.
I did the same thing on a Rec Tec for I had for 8 years and it worked fine with the gasket (I put on) on the lid. After the Rec Tec I have been careful with oil/grease getting anywhere close to the gasket on my LSG 20x36. Thx for putting this video together to show what/why you did what you did, it's always good to hear and see what others are doing and their thoughts. My next thing is to put some spacers against the frame to move the shelf away from the body. I also suggested to Chris to move the handle on the door up just a little, it's a PIA the way it is currently as you were stating. Thx again!
Thanks for watching!
Cool - I saw the first video last night and commented about putting it on the door instead, like the Yoder 640.
GREAT INFO ON THE LSG PELLET , MINE IS LOOSENED A LITTLE IN THE LOWER RH CORNER BUT STILL HANGING IN THERE
It was a major screw up on my part....
@@txbluzmn I just Cooked some chicken on mine and the bottom seal is loose on mine I think the lid sweats and runs down on the seal and loosens it up. My Shirley has a drip guard welded on it that kicks the moisture inward keeping it off the seal
Thank you so much for you in dept style of your videos. I’m waiting for my LSG 20x36 to arrive to far far away to Finland somewhere in October maybe.
It’s really nice to prepare for the ownership with content such as this 🍻 For me the maintenance (mineral oil coating) will be i.e very important, due the harsh and long winter. How often do you coat yours ?
Keep up the good content 🙌🏼
If it gets dirty, I wipe it down with oil while it's still a little warm, but it's not a regular thing. I hope you got the cover!!
Thanks for the compliments! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Chris, if you're reading this, just put a black high temp door seal on the smoker DOOR and be done with it, Jes. 😂😂😂 I actually called Chris this morning and he said they only have the seal in white. I'm guessing he has a contract with whatever company that makes that seal. I'm sure if it's an issue for someone order the damn LavaLock BLACK gasket, send it to Chris. Have him put that on instead, take off 20 bucks off the price and get your damn grill 😂😂😂
Ha ha!
A good Cotronics gasket adhered with high temp silicone would be a "one and done" solution for the door.
I bought this seal a few months ago for my Hasty Bake. But haven't put it on yet.
Have you put it on yet? Mine is doing well!!
@@txbluzmn nope not yet. Afraid to.
Good walk back
nice job ! Thanks for the video !
Thanks for watching!
You put your new seal on your door. Is that where it typically is? I thought it was on the main smoker area like your other felt seals are you showed at the end of the video. Did you do this so that no more grease could possible drip on that bottom felt seal since they are on the door now?
It s originally on the body, but I moved it to the door and seems to work for me. Now I can drip all the grease I want and wipe it off!
Do you happen to know why Lone Star does not put the seal on the door as you did? It seems to make more cents to me to have it on the door.
I haven't spoken to Chris about it.
You will probably never get all the creasote off of door...put seal where it came from factory, probably cleaner...is new seal same quality as from factory?
Yes. Same quality or better
I can't believe some guys worry about door seal turning dark..it's a smoker
Not worried about it.... Just a fact, Jack!
Ha ha.... Couldn't resist!
