Traeger Ribeye finished in Lodge Cast Iron
The structure your under, is that an off the shelf unit? If so, do you have the name of the company? I’m remodeling my backyard kitchen and I like your setup.
I’m building one on the website now, what accessories did you have to add to be able to do charcoal?
I think you, my brother, have truly added to my weekend! I heard you talk about Fairview and Market Street. Thinking you might be a Collin County original. Enjoyed your video on the LSG startup knowledge, too. Have you used any of LSG’s wood chips yet? I’ll go through your videos to check. Keep smokin’ and layin down the blues!
Love the Waylon Jennings music was a great highway Man. Today is 31Jan25 getting my LoneStar in May 25. Great content. God's Blessings 🙏
The bottom looks like it had a hot 🔥 heat
Anyone who has a loanstar grill replicate this
You should put that song on spotify Im from Florida, but that's a pretty good blues/country song, my brother. 👍🏾 oh yeah, and the brisket looks outstanding as well😂😂😂 they just started my fabrication on my Lonestar grill 2 days ago. Mine is absolutely loaded, like 7200.00, loaded
I'm glad you liked the music!
How does this compare to using charcoal pellets?
Bro ! Great vid and giving us tips . Question : How did all those wood chips get in your control panel box ? Fan area ? That one I never expected . Other than that how do you like the grill in of itself ?
Need to do some videos of your music
Need to get you a chevy hat brother
Is there any way to control the air flow if your coals end up burning too hot or flaming up?
This is the La plancha that monster makes? Or you bought elsewhere? Looks awesome. I didn’t think theirs had a high wall like this
Just want to say thank you for all your content watch all your vids they are great! Quick question. I’m looking at purchasing a LS pellet smoker and debating on the 36 or 42 and upgrades. If you had to purchase again knowing what you know now would you change anything? Size/add-ons/upgrades etc. charcoal basket/ flattop worth purchasing? Do you use one more than the other. Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you
Excellent advice. Had my 36 LSG for a month and the bottom seal is coming off. Putting it on the lid makes it much better.
Finally someone that does not use vegetables to wipe down their glorious meat preparing box. I am also thinking of using lard to season mine so this was so nice to see. Thank you Paul.
Also, what is that starter that you are using?
At the beginning of the video, you talked about the ash. You said we aren't going to worry about that today since you are grilling. When DO you need to worry about the ash and what do you do about it? Thanks.
Yoo! I’m thinking about buying a LSG pellet. How’s it holding up? Would you buy this same smoker again given the chance? Any feedback or guidance would be appreciated. Thx!
Just picked one up cyber monday. Thanks for walking me through the different functions.
Glad I could help!
How did you determine when to increase the temperature to 250? How did you determine when the brisket was done?
I turned it up when I went out the next morning. The internal temp reached 203 degrees before I pulled it off. You can pause the video at 8:19 and see the probe temp in the top left corner of the screen.
Can this smoker run without the wifi? Will the temperature probes still read read temps?
Yes! Yes!! no problems. It will run as is or you can also use Bluetooth to your phone to connect the app.
Please help, I tried to do the 0-400 wing method and I had a problem. I started the pit and put in 400 for my set point, it went thru its ignite phase and went to running but I noticed that the auger speed only went to 60% and thats as fast as it would go almost like there is max 60%set point . Help please
My auger never goes above 60% unless it's starting or I put it in manual mode. Did it not come up to temperature?
@@txbluzmn thx for answering No it didnt come up to temp only 360
@@txbluzmn I told chris that im going to experiment tomorrow
Glad to see you posting again!
Paul, love your music in the background and the videos as well. Old guy blues and rock drummer here in Conroe Texas, home of LSG. Would like to get some of your music, where can I do that?
Thanks! Spotify and iTunes have my last album. 😎👍
I wonder if a person could use the charcoal basket with a lazy snake of some charcoal and wood chunks (of personal pref) to create even more smoke flavor in the chamber...Seems like it could be set up to create a long (h-3-4 hr) slow burn which is about all you need before the bark sets.... I think I'll have to try it...🤔🤔
There is a single rod that runs right through the length of the middle of the charcoal basket that you would have to cut out to use the lazy snake, but let me know how it goes!
@@txbluzmnI’m waiting for my LSG pellet grill to be built (just ordered 3 weeks ago so it will be a while) and I am wondering the same thing, whether you can burn wood chunks in the charcoal basket kind of like the woodwind pro’s smoke box. I believe I saw something on the LSG website about not supposed to use the basket at the same time as the pellets, but I’m gonna try it anyway 😂 I’m thinking of a snake of briquets around the outside of the basket with wood chunks on top the whole way around… also wondering after seeing this video if you could position the basket partially above the firebox without blocking the pellet chute id it would actually function like the woodwind pro where the wood in the basket above the box would actually get hot enough to either smolder or ignite, but that might be a bit too much… just saw how everything kind of fit in the chamber as you were showing the setup and it’s got me excited to experiment once it arrives. Thanks for all of your great LSG pellet content, I have watched every video and really enjoyed the content. 👍
I have a recteq, I love it…is it worth spending 4 grand on a new smoker? When this one dies of course are these everything I heard they are cracked up to be?
No - if it does everything you want it to do, then enjoy it!!!! It is. and so much more I think!!
When I want to grill a couple burgers or steaks I just use the chimney with a small rack on top works great
Good idea!
The LSG is the best pellet smoker out there, but for a charcoal application like this I prefer the Weber Jumbo Joe for $80. Appreciate the video though.
I understand.
I'm interested in the cook programming and share settings..can another person start a programmed cook without the app..like if i were to let someone else use this pit for a cook..? Or would the share function let him do that? Thx for all the info on these controllers.
I'll have to look into that... I don't know if the controller will connect to more than one instance of the app!
Looks like all those are standard 120 volt pellet system plugs. Pretty much confirms I should be able to retrofit this controller with maybe some tweaks to my pit.
just go directly to Fireboard and they have systems for other smokers.
@@txbluzmn they told me some time ago they are not available for retail sale. And after watching your video I realize that LSG is selling the replacement unit. The hardest part to adapt to make it look factory would be how big and the dimensions of the hole is on the hopper.
When cleaning the deflector, why don't you use something like Zep degreaser?
Don't want to use that and then cook on it... Just trying to get build up off and not degrease it.
@@txbluzmn That makes sense! I recently stopped by the shop and placed an order for their 42" pellet grill. I'm excited to pick it up in a few months!
Chris, if you're reading this, just put a black high temp door seal on the smoker DOOR and be done with it, Jes. 😂😂😂 I actually called Chris this morning and he said they only have the seal in white. I'm guessing he has a contract with whatever company that makes that seal. I'm sure if it's an issue for someone order the damn LavaLock BLACK gasket, send it to Chris. Have him put that on instead, take off 20 bucks off the price and get your damn grill 😂😂😂
Ha ha!
A good Cotronics gasket adhered with high temp silicone would be a "one and done" solution for the door.
🌹
😂😂😂
Why?
Just recently purchased a used 36 inch LSG pellet grill. Absolutely love this thing, and I’ve been following your videos ever since. Mine did come with the charcoal basket, which I have not used yet, but will be doing soon. I want to get your feedback on the La Pancha. I saw your video on that as well. Do you still cook on it, and do you think it’s worth buying? * note* gave my Blackstone griddle to my daughter recently. Thanks for the great content! I hope you do many more LSG videos.
I don't use it very often, but I also never had a flat top and don't have a lot of call for it. For only $95, I think it's worth it! You be the judge.
Messed up my auger. It was a mess.
What kind of smoker?
VERY squeaky hinge. How old’s that unit? How often does it require lubricant?
I like the squeaky hinge - I've never oiled it! It's a little over 2 years old.
Thanks brother for being so honest. I am looking at the same one. I live outside of College Station, Where do you live in Texas?
Get it! No regrets. D/FW.
Any regrets with the LSG pellet smoker?
None at all. I know there is not a perfect cooker out there, but this has been for me as close as it gets. I've had zero issues and would do it again.
Great video
Thanks!!
Thank you so much for this video. My LSG is on order and your videos are so informative about the smoker.
You're welcome!
Yeah all you need is Avocado oil. Smoke point 500 plus. Lard will burn after 375 huge smoke point difference. Unless he uses this without charcoal or doesn't sear he will be good. Other than that it was a waste. Avocado oil in a spray can is cheap and easy solution. Lard will burn off too quickly. Seasoning is from the meat and smoke over time sticking to the inside of the unit. If it burns of like lard it will take longer to season.
I use that too - just wanted to go with animal fats.
Nice clean! Great music. Did you, by chance, oil your hinges? Seems like a good opportunity to do so.
Thanks! Nah..... I like it sounding like a creepy old gate! 😂
Will the deflector fit in the smoker WITH the charcoal basket in place? I’m asking to see if you could have some charcoal & wood chunks smoldering during a cook to increase the smoke flavor.
Just posted a video FOR YOU! 😀
Did you take off your seals?
I did. But I replaced it. Video coming soon!
I’ve watched your videos over and over again. Tonight I pulled the trigger and bought the 36 inch pellet smoker with the la plancha. I’m expecting great results.
I believe you will be impressed!
I need to clean mine out, especially by the grease trap, can’t even see the hole 😔. I do vacuum it out about every 3 cooks. Thanks for reminding me of some chores I got coming 😂love the tunes
😁👍
Sharpen that knife; tearing it up but still Looks amazing. How is the smoke flavor compared to an offset?
I got a honing steel and it changed my life ha! Smoke flavor is great!... not quite as good as an offset, but way better than an offset with poor fire management!
