Thanks for the video, always good to hear/see what others are doing. One thing I did was get the disposable foil pails from Amazon or Ace and put those inside my grease bucket with some paper towels folded over in the bottom which makes cleaning out the foil bucket very easy. After the 3rd or 4th cleaning (depending on what I am cooking) I throw the foil bucket out and just put in another one. Makes cleanup very easy. I have had my LSG pellet for 3-1/2 years and my gaskets are still going strong which is surprising with how much we use it but I do have the black gasket ready and I will probably replace it this summer. Also, keep a gallon of food grade mineral oil handy to wipe down the outside every couple of months. Thx again!
hello @michaelelias1016 - thanks for watching the channel and commenting, always appreciated! Yes, great idea on the bucket liners. I also put a paper towel at the bottom to make the cleaning easier - great tip! I just got my food grade mineral oil the other day, and am almost ready for the first application this weekend (now have 10 cooks in for heat/cool cycles). Will keep the pit looking new for years to come :) Take care, and Smoke On! - The Lost Canuck
Excellent video. I saved this for when I upgrade to this grill. I really wonder if you can ask them to add the gasket to the door. Subbed to the channel!
Hi @coreyconway - thanks for commenting and watching, always very much appreciated! The gasket has been an issue for many people. Some have asked Chris at LSG to move the gasket, but that hasn't happened yet. He recently responded to many requests to relocate the front shelf brackets and made a new side table (on of the guys from Facebook was selling relocation brackets and a side table for the older pits), so that mod eventually came true. Right now, I would suggest cooking on it the way it comes, and have the gasket in your supplies to replace when it fails (that's what I am doing - fingers crossed). Some last a year, and some only make it a few days. It all depends how much grease/oil gets on it from your cooks, etc. I'd ask them about the grate hooks for only $39. Also, if you ever do sausage, and want the rods, they will install them on the 42" unit as well, including brackets for $69 (its not listed). Most guys that do sausage, however, buy the cabinet pellet unit. Take care and smoke on! - The Lost Canuck

Fantastic video!!! I've had my LSG for 1 year (Jan 20th) and LOOOVE IT! I will be incorporating nearly all your tips. The thumbscrew tip was a "why the heck didn't I think of that" moment lol. Great to see another YT channel using the LSG. New Subscriber!!! Hope you have a great 2025, looking forward to your content.
Hi @TheSmoknRat - Happy New Year, thanks for watching and commenting, as it is very much appreciated. I just got the grill a few weeks ago, and am still learning it (hot/cold areas, controller, etc.). I love the new pit, effortlessly produces smoke in all conditions/temperatures. I hope you enjoyed the tips. I'm no pro or expert, just a regular back yard BBQ person :) - much more content to come, as I feel a pork shoulder would be nice for the game on Sunday. Take care - The Lost Canuck
Good Morning @KUGTI22 - thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated! I'm not going to lie, the wait is the hardest part, but so worth it at the end. Hands down the best pellet smoker out there today. You'll be grilling/smoking by Memorial Day! I hope you enjoyed the video. Smoke on! - Lost Canuck
@@clintblundon4880 hi Clint! Very cool. I know you will love the 42” pellet! I like mine. I wish I had more time to cook more food on it 😆. Yeah, that magnetic wrap is a good option. I like that you can store the plug in the little clip. Now the 5 month wait begins. Take care, and smoke on! - The Lost Canuck
Great hacks, Happy New Year my friend, my order is almost exactly like yours, except I ordered the off-road wheels and only the front stainless-steel table. I also ordered the replacement gasket, but after watching your video, I need to order the touch-up paint too :). looking forward to your next cooks.
hello @Wellse818 - thanks again for watching and commenting! If they haven't shipped your order, or sent you the build notification, just call down there and add it to your order. Tressa or Chris are super easy to talk with. They will ship it with the grill, and not charge you the extra $25 for shipping a single can (it's considered a dangerous good - flammable, so it goes via ground). Take care, and smoke on! - Lost Canuck
PS - If you ordered the ORP, you might want to take a look at the wheel spacers that most people install. It helps with the tight turning radius of the ORP. I didn't get that particular package, so I can't comment on it. If you are in the Facebook group "Lone Star Grillz Pellet Smoker Owners", and search "spacers", it is discussed there. Happy New Year! - Lost Canuck
@@jpan08 hello @jpan08 - thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated!! Well, LSG offers some options that aren’t listed on the website. I call it the secret menu. You have to call and ask them to add them to an order. A few things that I know of are the welded grate hooks on the back ($39) - very handy, the electrical cord wrap, and the sausage rods for smoking your own sausage. If you want those options, you have to ask them specifically. That’s it! Take care, and smoke on! - The Lost Canuck
Awesome tips, I ordered on 10/2 so if you don’t mind me asking how long was your wait? I’m thinking I should receive it by the end of February but hoping it might be a little sooner. Also, love the hat… is that Judge Smails hat? If so, I hope the soup was good 👍
Hello @jaurouze! Thanks for watching and commenting, as it is very much appreciated! My wait was almost exactly 5 months to the day. So if you ordered now, you might be smoking by Memorial Day, depending on shipping and the options you add. This thing is so heavy duty, the wait was worth it, and it just smokes! Yes, it’s my “cooking hat”, and it’s from Caddyshack. I did get a free bowl of soup with it 😂. ………it looks good on me, though………. Take care and smoke on! - The Lost Canuck
I heard you say the typical sized pails that come with many grills wont work on the LSG. Is this because you added the ball valve and it hangs too low? Have you found any foil liners that work with your pail?
Hello Bruce! Thanks for the comment. Yes, my old smoker buckets didn’t work. The handles were too “thick” for the slot. The pail handle diameter needs to be 4 mm or smaller. The hooks I bought were 4 mm and fit down the slot with no issue. I didn’t want to file down the slot to make it fit and wreck the paint. I bought a larger 4 quart SS pail that fits around the valve well. It would have been a tight squeeze for my old GMG pail 😁. I just use regular aluminum to line the pail. And if any gets by, it’s a nice smooth SS, so clean up is very easy. I hope this helps. Take care and smoke on! - The Lost Canuck
@@brucebartlett2580 no worries. I’ve cleaned out the SS pail with Dawn Power Wash spray each time and some hot water, and it all just comes out. I line with foil too, but a little always leaks by where I have it folded.
