Please go read another article on this case. It is so much more extensive than just a home incident. Police were called because while transporting her to another location she got out of the car at Walmart and started screaming for help and witnesses saw him drag her back into the vehicle.
When police found them, the guy had cut his own neck and was actively in the process of strangling her. It was an attempt to end them both. You can see the shallow slit across his throat on his mugshot.
It’s disgusting to see people commenting in support of him or antagonistically against her. This is not a case based on pure he said she said. Witnesses saw him committing the kidnapping and police found him in the process of trying to end her life.
All this questioning from him to try to debunk her account of the initial home invasion is just atrocious. Let’s see him try to explain away the police finding him trying to end her life while bleeding from the self inflicted shallow throat slit. I don’t think the Shaggy strategy will get the job done: “It wasn’t me”

This is why I believe with all my being, that anyone who is the “accused”, in any case, should not be allowed to question the “victim”, PERIOD. There should be a law in every state that says this is not allowed. The victim needs protection from the accused in court just the same as outside of the court. This is the ONLY reason he wanted to defend himself..so he could try to traumatize her again.
THe laws need to be altered about abusers doing this to their victims.
It should be done via video link, where the abuser does not get to see the victim, and where the abuser's questions need to be given to a third party to read aloud. This wouldn't detract from the defendant's legal rights. But provides some measure of protection from further harm to the victim.
People who have suffered such egregious assaults and violence should not be placed in situations which can inflict psychological harm on them.
I'm surprised people who are forced into such situations don't sue the courts for the harm caused to them - because suing is the only method they have to try to stop this.
In the UK..children mostly only give evidence via video link, and don't have to see the court room. Precisely to try to minimize the psychological harm.
