Heifietz's shifts are so fast and accurate. Modern technique has taught us to slow down as we near the target note. Heifetz is fearless though, he knows where every note is to the millimeter
"I practiced like devil" " Hard work is more important than talant" ㅡ Heifetz told me My beloved teacher. During 4years of study Heifetz never showed bad temperament. Always kind and tactful.
“If I don’t practice for one day I can tell the difference”. “If I don’t practice for two days the critics can tell the difference”. “If I don’t practice for three days the audience can tell the difference”. - Attributed to J.Heifetz (I believe..🤔)
Magia Pura. Qué maravillosa versión. Qué buen gusto para los rubati, glissandi, tempi, cambios de octavas, vibrato. Un verdadero Mago. Único. Gracias por compartir.
Heifetz is my favorite of the20th C. Violinists, but this was a century blessed with some very great ones. How fortunate we all are that our friends have brought these wonderful recordings to everyone on this medium. Thank you, one and all. Now, if some genius would only invent a pre-amp and speaker for a computer which would capture the sound better.
When Heifetz plays, it's almost as if the music was written, with him in mind. My teacher (Detroit Symph. 35 years, grad. of Jull., Mercury Label w/Paul Paray) was 3rd desk 1st section, played a UN concert in NY, 1950's, Heifetz played the Beethoven...teacher told me Heifetz...brought him to tears. He does me as well. Heifetz had been in an auto accident, hurt his back, played anyway, leaning on a stand.
Art Connor your story is hard to believe because if your teacher is 35 years old, he wouldn’t have been born yet if it was in the 1950s. However, inspirational nonetheless.
Heifetz and Perlman are my two my violin inspirations! And Tchaikovsky has to be my favourite composer along with Saint-Saens, so this is the perfect combination for me. Think I'll play this for my next concert

No one quite like Jascha Heifetz... And I don't think there ever will be. There are other violinists I think who may be considered equally as good, but they're definitely not the same.
Fritz Kreisler was better, there was something more in his performance: Viennese aristocratism. Heifetz was the master of sound and violin technique, but something was still missing compared to Kreisler. I define this something as culture, education, aristocratism.
His Russian cultural backround together with his Northamerican transculture gave him unparalleled interpretative power, combining Slavic "pathos" and romanticism with american "jazzy" swing. He was also a superb interpreter of Spanish music (see for example his interpretation titled "Jascha Heifetz plays Falla (dance)" and many others including many of Sarasate's masterpieces for the violin in youtubes wonderful collections)
I appreciate your thoughtful comment: you're up to the point, Peter, but something is still missing compared to Kreisler, namely: Viennese aristocratism and encyclopaedic education. When Rachmaninoff was asked who he thought is the greatest violinist of the 20th century, he did not hesitate to say "Fritz Kreisler: he is one level above everybody else, with Heifetz somewhere near." Oistrakh shared this view.
2:40 ... Si lo hizo a drede o simplemente no pudo pasar esa barrera , hasta el más grande tiene sus límites :'( pero aún así fue una grandiosa presentación
Yo lo digo en Español. Heifetz plus Tchaikowski is a perfect marriage to learn what is the sensibility in this world.......Perdón.....me salió en ingles. No importa, mañana lo traduzco.
His vibrato is so rich and colourful, such amazing sound!

I'm learning this for my grade 8 violin, God this is an astonishing recording, no one else plays like he did, it's just perfect.
+Will vW Yes. His recording of the Korngold concerto is gorgeous also. He plays with such passion!
Y LIRISMO.-
Both are lovely but please review James Ehnes recording too!
@@1cleandude I prefer Heifetz's version, but James Ehnes is also incredible

Fritz Kreisler is the best violinist of the 20th century. I share this opinion of Rachmaninoff and Oistrakh.
you’re not mainstream if Heifetz or Kreisler are your favorite violinists. We all just sit in awe of them
Heifetz...probably the greatest violinist of all time....we miss you...R.I.P.
It simply is not possible to play more beautifully, with more artistry.... extraordinary!
Why?
My phone has this as an alarm and I really like it. Glad to be able to find it to fully listen to it. It's lovely sounding
One of the best examples of the Heifetz magic in a myriad of colors with intensity and control.

@@Lemon-fp5zn It sounds like he was saying that his teacher played with the Detroit symphony for 35 years, not that he was 35 years old.
such a beautiful comment! I’m glad I moved a soul with my music.. ♥️
There is a recording of this same performance of Heifetz playing the Beethoven.
This is quite a coincidence! I took lessons from Detroit Symphony’s fifth chair first violin player, back in the 70’s! His name was Jack Boesen! 🙂
Tchaikovsky’s Melodie is a ringtone on the samsung s21. It’s very soothing, and I’m grateful to hear a prof play it in all its glory!
