While I prefer fresh made tamales, I do like the canned Hormel tamales.
I honestly had no idea that canned tamales existed. They look awright! The Knorr Rice and instant Idaho mashed potatoes are car camping essentials. 👍👍

I’m so glad you did this. I thought I was the only one that ate this combo. I love the tamales!!!! Knorr pasta/rice sides are legit. The Taco Rice is my fave along with some refried beans and salsa and cheese. Fun dip.
Also The Tamale Guy is a Legend!!!! My bar days back in the day were always lit when he showed up. Man I miss Chicago.
damn Im gonna have to try that. I have made the knorr rice a million times for kids but never had those tamales in a can. Perfect cheap quick combo there. Nice!
Knorr used to be branded "Lipton" in the U.S. Don't know why they changed it, I'd have thought Lipton was better known here than Knorr. Anywho, instead of chicken flavored rice with tamales, try Mexican or Spanish flavor (though as you said, there's like twenty to choose from). Knorr (nee Lipton) has similarly packaged pasta by the pasta section (usually) with an equal number of flavors to choose from. Before I was directed to cut back on carbs I ate either all the time, who can argue with a terrifically flavored rice or pasta, ready in ten minutes, that works as a side (to almost anything), or you can add nearly anything to it (tuna, sliced sausage, veggies, etc.).
Goya makes a fanatic Spanish style rice. It also makes a really easy one pot arroz con pollo. I forget the brand, but there's also a quick risotto that's really good. It's in a beige/gray box
They're both good. Especially the canned tamales, theyhit the spot once in a while.
I have a can of those Tamales in my pantry, but haven't tried them yet. Go Bengals!!!!

My daughter's friends family moved. And they were a Spanish speaking household. So the kids were translating for us. And they have us all their food in their house bc they didn't want to waste it or try to move it all across the country. And that was last fall. 2022. Lol and there was a bunch of cans of tamales. And u haven't tried then yet. I'd say if a Mexican momma had them on deck for her kids. There probably good. I'm gonna try them afyer this vid

That might be the most ghetto meal I have seen on here, but I would still eat it. I have had Knorr rice which is good, but never the Hormel tamales. I think if you want to take these budget meals up a notch, see what you can make from scavenging Dollar Tree. As far as the Super Bowl goes, Tom Brady retiring on the first day of the Year of the Tiger is a good omen for the Bengals. Go with Cincinnati.

I don’t know what ever made me try these weird canned tamales 🤔 maybe I was hungry while shopping, but I’m embarrassed to say that I kinda like them. Lots of folks eat canned chili, so why not tamales? I’ve only eaten them twice before, and even forced my friend to try them. She had a hard time admitting that they were kinda tasty. I’m just gonna keep this my little secret 🤫 By the way Sean, you didn’t cook your rice long enough. It’s supposed to be “fluffy” not watery.. but as long as you liked it, that’s all that matters.
I never had it but my ex used to eat that stuff I mean it was Hella easy to cook for him because he didn’t have very adventurous palate let’s just say I tried but he always preferred stuff like that versus what I would cook anyway stuff is easy to cook that’s for sure just throw it in the microwave and you’re done

Don't get why you couldn't try it first then mix it. Kinda ruined the flavor since you have the rice mixed in and the sauce that was there is gone. Just an opinion on how you did it. I would have plated it on the side and then mixed it. Liked the video though

Never had either, but plan on trying it. I’m scared I’m going to really love this. I said (jokingly) to my son at the beginning of the playoffs that the Raiders or Bengals would win the Superbowl. Why, my son asked? Because last year the Bears beat Brady and the Bucs and they won the Superbowl. With the Bears beating the Raiders after Gruden got fired and then picking off Burreaux (spelled for you New Orleans fans) 3 times on 3 consecutive passes to beat the Bengals, it was only natural one of these teams would win it :)

I could be wrong, but it looks like you're can opener is designed to be used on top of the can, cutting into the sides of the can. Try turning it 90 degrees.

Of course fresh tamales are better; I love fresh tamales. I was enjoying these as a canned grocery store food, and not comparing them to the real deal. Gotta manage expectations in this game 🙏🏻
