i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any help you can offer me!
@Wallace Randall i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Awesome blade, great work and craftsmanship, I really enjoy your videos and the fact that you use everyday in anybody’s garage type tools Lee it up!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I don't comment much but man I really admire your art and appreciate your explanation notes. keep it up brother With that mentoring, building up a beginner playlist would be great.
I truly appreciate feedback like this so thank you. I'm trying to strike a balance between entertainment and educational you know? I do plan on making a playlist of short how to videos in a similar style though. Straight to the point with further explanation at the end if desired. Perhaps a video on setting up a budget shop too.
love your creativity. We see a lot of vids out there with the same ole designs, but this is really something new. Was this your concept or did you borrow it? either way, well done. I am going to borrow your inlay epoxy handle method. Thanks for taking the time to record the project.
Thanks John! Borrow away just show me the finished piece :). Happy to say this and all my other knives are original designs. That being said I look at knives all week on instagram so it's hard not to be inspired by all the great makers out there haha. If you look hard enough it's all been done before.
Nice job bro. 👏 every knife keeps getin better. Haha watch ur videos like dam are you in my shop ?? We have alot of the same tools down to the brand lmao. @970cort
Appreciate it brotha! Getting to the point where I can make most of the crazy ideas I have in my head haha. Got a sketch book full of them. Thanks for letting me use your shop at 2am too. I'll try to keep the noise down.
Hello! I would like to ask you...it may seems silly but i am very new in knife making. You heat the blade up to 1475 degrees, so it may take 4 or 5 minutes since you use a double burner forge. You say you soak for 10 minutes...what do you mean? You keep the blade in the forge for 10 minutes? The temp does not go up??
Happy to help my friend, no question is too silly! I use a high temp pyrometer to adjust the propane pressure so that it averages around my target temp which in this case was 1475. The knife takes maybe a couple of minutes to get to that temp and once it does I leave it there for 10 mins (soaking) moving it around to keep it as even as possible. I just got a 1/2 pipe that I will use in the future to act as an buffer between the flame and steel for more even heat distribution. Now professionals don't like heat treating in forges because the temperature does vary but for a hobbyist like myself it gets the job done.
@@99echo oh, many thanks for your answer and all your help! Your videomis really instructive... and the soaking time depends on the thickness of the blade or the type of the steel? Or both?? This time is a matter of trials that i have to do is there is somewhere that i can find these information? Thanks again for your help
No worries! So you don't have to soak all steels, depends on the type. The place you buy your steel should give you the manufacturer's reccomended heat treat steps. If you're using unknown steels and don't have a way to check temp then a safe bet is to heat the metal up until it's non-magnetic and then quench it quickly in oil.
Hey, BTW, you use a 2x42 belt grinder, right? Do you have a video of the modifications you have made to it? I have a Norse 2x42 but as far as I know, it's the same thing as a palmgren. I have modded mine, as well, but, I'm always keen to know if there are other modifications I can make to ot to increase my productivity.
Yeah man, same machine, different name. So I put a piece of aluminum as the platen which works well. Bolted on a nice piece of steel for the work table. And that's about it. Cut the guards off so I can run those thick scotch Brite belts which are great btw.
Unbelievable..... people just don’t make knives . They make crocheted Santa toilet paper holders and macrame dream catchers. Have I taught you nothing?
Really dig your shop Jon. Seems like a super efficient setup. I just ordered up some custom printed kydex too for a future project. Do you have to treat it any differently than the regular stuff?
What're your favorite parts of the build? I try to slow down on the satisfying shots.
Heat treatment is by far my most favorite part!

what is the thikness of the steel ?
Can't remember exactly but most of the stuff I use is around .110 for EDC stuff.

Good to know! Wasn't sure exactly how they do the inclusion and if it needed special handling or something. Should be pretty fun to work with.
