Love my Sunday morning power rankings time. Of all hockey media, I think you have the best system for constructing the rankings and you do a good job of explaining it. Bravo 👏
Not only very potent offensively, but that game against Columbus I saw the Jets made it pretty much impossible to get through the neutral zone against them. Excellent two way play by them.
Culture and accountability seem to be big in Carolina. Gotta give Rod the Bod credit for being a tough, fare coach who allows players to ascend on merit and not rep
Montreal/Laval's hybrid system (similar to Florida) is hard on players -especially young defenceman - but it's a system that wins when the talent can execute. This is a coach and organization that knows what they are doing...but comes with suffering and toughening.
I think you’re wrong. [Insert team] not only deserves to be in [insert place in power rankings], but they really should be [insert lower place in power rankings.] The [inset fan base ] is delusional.
Man, I'm watching those power ranking for the last few weeks and I really like it kee0 going you're doing fantastic work and thank you for your work. ❤
Caps had a completely different roster and didn't have the scoring talent last year, so the comparison to last years team doesn’t really work. Caps added PLD, Mangiapane, Vrana who is a proven scorer, and young guys like protas and McMichael have taken a huge step
That and I think Ovi has bought into Carbs’ coaching style. I think he was fighting it the first half of last year. Seeing it work in spite of him led him to lean into it and it’s encouraging the younger players to do so as well.
This is soooo incredible!! As a Winnipegger to see our Jets play this well is like a gift from above. The team, the coaching and management are all to be credited for their success. So much fun to watch them improve game in and game out. Now they are 12-1. Only 5 other NHL teams have had a season starter this good in total nhl history. And they would be cup winning teams such as Oilers if thr 80s and Penguins in their day.
This next month th will be a HUGE test for the jets. Arguably their toughest stretch of the season. 4 games against the florida teams alone(they've gone 8-0 over the past 2 seasons but we shall see)
Our easiest game in this month is probably utah. And they aren't that bad. This months games are gonna be brutal but I believe we got this. Dallas is the one I'm most worried about but still we're 10-1 a couple loses ain't realisticly gonna hurt.
You do a really good job, truly are a hockey guy and as non bias as could be, one thing i would like to see you do is a strength of schedule ranking at say approximately every 10 games or there about, keep up the good work.
Canucks fan here. I was at the San Jose game last night and it was a good hockey crowd who supported their team. About 80% capacity it looked like. I did get the sense that the fans, though still supportive, were frustrated with the Sharks willingness to lay the body and with their power play. But they've got one of the best lines in hockey right now and when they add Mack to the mix that team should really get going.
This is going to be very picky, but Washington should be even higher tbh. They have the 2nd best win percentage in the league, have won 7 of 8 (out-played Tampa in the one loss too), and dominated the rangers a couple games ago. Caps are no joke this year
The difference in points for Caps and Rangers is a single overtime. The Rangers have better goals against and more road wins with their other loss against top row Panthers while the Caps losses were to not top row Devils and getting shut out by the Lightning. The Wild are also at 16 points with both teams at 7 regulation wins so a slight edge for the Wild having top row wins twice against the Lightning (who shut out the Capitals) plus 1 against the Panthers vs the Capitals top row wins over Knights, Stars, and Rangers.
@@maxfish4270 It is tight between the Caps and Rangers but the Caps totally outplayed the NYR when they met. You point out several time the Caps loss to TB but that is due to Vasilevskiy who is one of the top two goalies in the league with the NYR goalie and it must be pointed out that the Caps outplayed the Lightning in that game. The Caps are in the top three in scoring this year on average per game. Although it is very close the fact that the Caps are ahead in points combined with the dominant game against NY would indicate that the Caps should be 1 spot ahead at this time.
Wow, all the way to 27! It's still early but it definitely feels like an improvement over last year. Can't wait for celebrini to get back into the lineup.
As a rangers fan, I think they should be near Dallas in the rankings. The senators, panthers, and caps all outplayed them, and only won 2 of those games bc of Igor stealing the game
Before the season I expected the wild to be in the playoffs I thought it was absurd how lowly people ranked them. Last season was early struggles and lots of injuries they were atleast a wild card team, probably a first round exit but still I had expectations
Glad to see the Anaheim Dostals moving up on the board!

With Comrie playing solid, Jets are staying on top while they are playing this crazy one on one off schedule. KC with a point a game, Niki getting hot, the best shut down line in the league and a PP that’s clicking. Gotta love hockey in Manitoba right now. GO JETS
Much different roster for Washington this year. Not really apples to apples to compare last years results to this years with them.
Sens have definitely played really well, should arguably have a better record. But if they keep it up they will be a playoff team.
Sens are starting to understand that to win on a regular basis you need to play good defense, it's easier to win games when you don't have to score 5 goals every night! Seeing the Sens above the Leafs put a big smile on my face :)
Honestly, if I had to pick a Canadian team I'd like to see win the cup, it would be the Jets.
I agree, for a Canadian team, they are the least talked about team but no denying they are a very well put together team.
Agreed. Mostly because the sheer amount of people (including Bettman) that would hate it. 😂
And Hellebuyck would sure deserve it
Long overdue.
@@seven_curses
Oh yes, of course Bettman & many others dislike the Jets.
🙄
Love my Sunday morning power rankings time. Of all hockey media, I think you have the best system for constructing the rankings and you do a good job of explaining it. Bravo 👏
Was feeling bad when Montreal dropped to 32. Expected a drop but not that much. Then Boston shows up that was some relief.
Not only very potent offensively, but that game against Columbus I saw the Jets made it pretty much impossible to get through the neutral zone against them. Excellent two way play by them.
Power rankings among Canadian NHL teams:
- 1st - Jets (TBD overall as of 19:21 mark of video)
- 2nd - Sens (10th overall)
- 3rd - Leafs (12th overall)
- 4th - Flames (13th overall)
- 5th - Canucks (14th overall)
- 6th - Oilers (19th overall)
- 7th - Habs (last overall)
Culture and accountability seem to be big in Carolina. Gotta give Rod the Bod credit for being a tough, fare coach who allows players to ascend on merit and not rep
Always great to see the power rankings video. Makes my weekend. You rock, Shannon!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Montreal/Laval's hybrid system
(similar to Florida) is hard on players -especially young defenceman - but it's a system that wins when the talent can execute. This is a coach and organization that knows what they are doing...but comes with suffering and toughening.
Hate to see my two favorite teams 32nd and 31st. But I can't complain.
Loving the trippy puck logos! Thanks for everything Shannon-your videos are a daily delight
Appreciate the difference you identified between top 9 and rest. Ottawa at 10… hope so. Ottawa Valley needs some playoff enjoyment!
Every spot I didnt see the sharks puck show up was a bigger and bigger shock. Well done on the rise sharkies.
No complaints, you do an excellent job. Salute
I for one am offended that [insert team] is only [insert place in power rankings]. Frankly, it's insulting to [insert fanbase].
I think you’re wrong. [Insert team] not only deserves to be in [insert place in power rankings], but they really should be [insert lower place in power rankings.] The [inset fan base ] is delusional.
@@mythbhavd The [inset fan base ] farts in your general direction and your [Insert team] is steaming hot on the lawn.
Great work Shannon!
this has become my sunday morning tradition. Love this
If the Blue Jackets ever end up at number one on the board in my lifetime I’ll cry
If they end up getting out of that perpetual rebuild they just might make it!
@ never gonna happen
The year they won 16 games in a row they must have been #1 on somebody's board.
@ hahahah, I feel like this was the first year of thg’s channel. Did he do rankings back then. Now I want to check.
I'm a simple man. I see Shannon power rankings thumbnail, I click.
GO JETS GO BABY!!!! LOVE EM
I remember all the "don't sleep on the Habs" comments when you predicted them last in their division.
Man, I'm watching those power ranking for the last few weeks and I really like it kee0 going you're doing fantastic work and thank you for your work. ❤
Very nicely done, Sir
Watching Chicago and San Jose get better makes me feel so bad for buffalo. They still suck but you can watch these teams develop almost in real time.
"if every time somobody beat Vancouever I got angry" you would have turned into Dangle, and thank god you didn't, one is plenty
As a Habs fan. Fair ranking
I’m a Ducks fan and even I want Ottawa to pull this off
Caps had a completely different roster and didn't have the scoring talent last year, so the comparison to last years team doesn’t really work.
Agree on Canes comments. Today's game is another good test versus the Caps
Best hockey content channel
As someone who didnt believe in the caps this years im really suprised
Ottawa in the top 10 🤯
This next month th will be a HUGE test for the jets. Arguably their toughest stretch of the season. 4 games against the florida teams alone(they've gone 8-0 over the past 2 seasons but we shall see)
Our easiest game in this month is probably utah. And they aren't that bad. This months games are gonna be brutal but I believe we got this. Dallas is the one I'm most worried about but still we're 10-1 a couple loses ain't realisticly gonna hurt.
There's always a surprise team each year and for me it's Washington; I did not see that coming at all.
Thanks for the video! The rankings seem legit.
Great show THG! I dont get to watch much NHL, besides the home team, so the show is a great way to catch up on each team.
Sooo much fun being an Islanders fan it’s just the best.
You do a really good job, truly are a hockey guy and as non bias as could be, one thing i would like to see you do is a strength of schedule ranking at say approximately every 10 games or there about, keep up the good work.
Man. AVS are looking like the lottery team
I’ll take devils at 11. I see the potential in this team and I’m glad others do as well
Canucks fan here.
@@maxfish4270 One, impressive. Two, I read this and thought of the always sunny charlie meme where he has the chicken scratch all over the board :D
I am with you on this one. The Caps have been very impressive so far.
Wow, all the way to 27! It's still early but it definitely feels like an improvement over last year. Can't wait for celebrini to get back into the lineup.
What a miracle, HG has the two top teams in standings as the top two teams on the board. :) Kidding HG.
Kraken continued with last years habit of making the opponents goalie look really good.
As a rangers fan, I think they should be near Dallas in the rankings. The senators, panthers, and caps all outplayed them, and only won 2 of those games bc of Igor stealing the game
Let’s roll SJS! The March to the second row continues!
Thank you for putting the habs in 32nd Shannon now we can get Jinxed to a playoff spot!
Shocking to see last year’s president’s cup winner in 25th!
That was two years ago. Rangers won it last year, Panthers three years ago.
Yvonne must be happy about the Wild. You're safe.
Why would anyone complain? The "Power" rankings run neck and neck with the Bettman videos for funniest content on this channel. 😊
Great Video, as usual, Shannon
As a Jets fan, I believe Min is as good as Jets. Lets see what hapoens here...
good ranking i’d swap wild and caps but that’s it
Love to see the Jets at #1! ❤ we’ll see how they fare in Nov
Solid rankings this week
Before the season I expected the wild to be in the playoffs I thought it was absurd how lowly people ranked them. Last season was early struggles and lots of injuries they were atleast a wild card team, probably a first round exit but still I had expectations
Crisp bacon, French toast, good coffee and the THG Power Rankings. Can’t start the day any better!!! 😀
If you were in France right now would it just be "Toast"?
