Well played sir, you deserve this like.
You beat me to it 😂
Imagine an entire gaming company with the same amount of passion as the guy who made this game. One can dream..
That entire gaming company you speak of exists. It's called FromSoftware
I'd say most devs are pretty dedicated to their games. It's just the publishers expecting devs to create AAA games in 12-16 months.
There's a lot of such companies, but probably not where you're looking for them (definitely not the megacorporations churning out AAA games).
I mean we do have Ubisoft
And now we wait for the onslaught of comments from people who didn't bother to click "read more" heheheheheheehehe

King Slayer!!
The dev statement that came out that basically said this isn't going to be Total War, or Crusader Kings, but Banished with some combat on the side, that made me happy. That's all I want. A modern successor to Banished. What a stellar city builder that was. And still is.
Yes! I've put hundreds of hours into banished, been playing since it's release. It's one of those games that I just pick up and can spend an entire evening playing just to relax. I never try and do crazy mod villages either.. but it's just so perfect for how I like to play games.
Amen to that! After Banished, all city builder/survival games just reused the very same systems with minimal improvement, changing the setting and production chains... Very hyped for this one :) I also hope it comes with a better AI than what we usually see
I only played banished for the first time last year and couldn't get enough. Despite its popularity and many attempts, I feel like no other game came close.
But I haven't tried manor lords yet.
A grittier version of kingdoms and Castles. Sign me up!!
@@RachelMcCarn Have you played Farthest Frontier? It's been my 'Improved Banished'
This game, developed by 1 person, in early access looks way better, more complete and less predatory than a quadruple A game created by a company of 20000+ employees! :o

What a dumb and clueless comment, only twice in my life as someone who has played almost 600 games have I seen an incomplete game, I'm tired of this toxic bandwagon jumping sheeple barrage of comments on EVERY SINGLE VIDEO
Greg Styczeń was the creator and solo developer of Manor Lords through his studio Slavic Magic. One guy. Give some thumbs up to the Man.
Contractors too though
Lmao I love that studio name
Yeah but how many contractors did he have?
@@mytop3467 A lot but he organises them all himself etc, though still the majority of the game is hand-built by him.
Check out my game I’m working on, it’s a traditional open world jrpg ninja experience, at the moment it’s just me working on it.
With the artistic style of the buildings and roads i would not be surprised to see Geralt of Rivia coming into town to check the bounty board for a new hunt.
I would. Because it's not an RPG and has no RPG features at all! People really need to keep their expectations in check 🙂
Imagine that for an Easter egg. Every now and then a little npc that looks kinda like a witcher walks through your village lol.
@@AmonAnon-vw3hr and all he says is : Hmm.. wind`s humming. And then hop on his horse and walk away
@@OrangeNash You've misunderstood what they're saying, they're not saying they're gonna add in Witcher type gameplay, they're saying that the villages you can build look similar to the villages in the Witcher
Well the style is inspired and is based around how medieval towns and cities in Central and Eastern Europe loooked at that time and not as much on Anglo-Saxon medieval time period which are most Western and US medieval media are based around
One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video was the importance of historical accuracy. There is a historian who playing the beta and kept being blown away by the achetechtural realizm. Personally I've been super excited about this since I first heard of it and really enjoyed the beta.
You mean Proud Bavarian, right? I love how he explains things and notes the accuracies.
You mean copy and paste.
one thing missed was that the leveling tree is for that area, not the whole map. So if you want one town to do farming, and another town to do mining, you can upgrade points accordingly.
This is made by one guy, I think you should give him a help then 😂

Settlers on steroids. It's like society simulator. Best thing is everything is connected and graphicaly presented. Everyone who played Settlers 3,4 (Amiga times), will be super happy with this game. Me :)
Settlers was my first thought. And that is definitely a good thing.
Mac (the guy behind Worth a Buy) basically said there was Settlers, two decades of games that don't matter and then Manor Lords.
Especially when the latest iteration of Settlers is at best .. meh. Pioneers of Pagonia is underwhelming to me too, I would say the closest I've played lately is Farthest Frontier
The Settlers IV FTW!!!
dont forget Stronghold
Sometimes I am in the mood for city builders and I am glad people are still making them! I remember playing the OG roller coaster tycoons back in the day. I would love a modernized version of those.

Be patient, folks. This game is still in Early Access and made by basically one (1) person. Give it time. Remember how Baldur's Gate 3 was when it was in Early Access? Buggy, unfinished and not fun. Now look at it; Game of the Year in every category.

Kudos to Slavic Magic for that Steam post you mentioned. A developer setting proper expectations for the playerbase helps everyone from the developers to the players and Steam as well as it will curtail refunds and make early access way better for everyone.

In just 10 hours, we can immerse ourselves in this long-awaited, amazing city builder game and truly appreciate all the time and effort poured into making this one-of-a-kind experience.
Manor lords is now one of my favourite games I’ve really loved it and I love the natural feeling in the building. The fact that one guy did those graphics is absolutely insane to me cause I am obsessed with visit mode as it is so beautiful to see your towns grow
Tbh i want it to have some bannerlord concept where u can still be in the fields and control ur own guy while leading an army
I played this for first time today after having it on wishlist for a few years, and honestly I was amazed at it, spent hours the first day just messing with it, no bugs yet , very solid game, I cant wait to see what it turns into, like a peaceful city builder with some small skirmish tactics which really at the time period, it was nobles vs nobles and this was the majority of combats were small skirmishes amongst land owners, to me this game is already starting to scratch a long overdue itch, and the fact it was mainly one guy just shows how dedication and passion for a project can become amazing and these bigger companies should start focusing more on things like this than how fast they can release the "next" big title just for more money.
Tbh i want it to have some bannerlord concept where u can still be in the fields and control ur own guy while leading an army as it will turn into a society simulator
I absolutely love it when you guys do reviews on smaller development team games. It is so great to have a review channel like yours show me games that I would not have noticed otherwise. Thank you for reviewing some of these gems.
It’s the most wishlisted game on steam.. 😁
There was a decent line of city builders by Sierra and Impressions games that seem to function like this. Ceasar city builder, Zeus city builder probably being the best known ones. Big fan of those so really happy to see one come back into the games environment after mostly being an abandoned game type.
Almost 8 million subscribers. Damn you guys just keep going lol. Great stuff and thanks for all the videos over the years.
Story like KC Deliverance + Battle Scale like M&B2 Bannerlords + City Building like Manor Lords = Medieval Game of the Century

agreed. i hope if there is mount and blade 3, i want it to be city building too. just need to add that feature and its heaven!
@@thedumbdog1964what why
I'm not a city builder type of gaming. I mostly play RPG, story driven, single player games but Mr. Falcon explained it to me like I'm a 5 year old for this. I love it and now I'm gonna support the guy who made this awesome game. I love supporting small studios like this. Thank u Gameranx!
Im kinda like u but different, i was into FPS games especially Milsim games but at some point i got too toxic over it and got very frustrated and it got stale for me mostly. Thou i still play at least 3 fps games namely Squad and tarkov and I'm thinking about gray zone warfare as to buy but only as my Last fps game that i will buy. Nowadays i normally Play stealth games like Assasins creed and Batman arkham, stealth games for me offer a different sense of enjoyment because not only is it a tactical approach by careful process of elimination but its not as grindy. But as my work schedule gets worse i tend to have limited playing time and the problem with most fps milsim games is that they take way too much time so I'm looking at different genres and rts and turn based RPG came to my mind. I Wanna try rts and city builder as its a thinking mans game and its practically chess lol how ever i want it to have some bannerlord concept where u can still be in the fields and control ur own guy while leading an army as it will turn into a society simulator
I can't wait to play Manor Lords tomorrow!!! I will have a blast!! Played it on Steam's Demo Fest long time ago, looked good and interesting and it was on my radar for a year and a half, so finally tomorrow is going to be the day!
And there is so many great city builders coming, Frostpunk 2, Kaiserpunk... This is going to be a great year for city builders!
played the beta when it came out, its a really solid experience and the fact its made by a single guy is INSANE, hopefully he gets picked up by a studio who can assist him for future projects cause the mans clearly got talent
I truly, TRULY hope they will expand the game with full on castle building. I havent been hyped for a game like this in ages!
Your explanation reminds me a lot of the early 2000’s city builder Pharaoh. If Manor Lords is like that, then I’m totally in! I played a ton of Pharaoh back in the day.
Very excited about this game, played it on Steam Next like 4 years ago and been waiting for the full release ever since, it was really interesting how unique and realistic it is!
The more realistic version of this is your lord going to war and your troops being levied. Deal with raiders while meeting a quota of supplying and equipping so many men. Seems like a very in-depth and interesting game! Can’t wait to play it on console in three years
Just wanted to say that medieval buildings are some of the most extravagant and ornate buildings ever built, more intricate than most buildings built today
Yep. Generally well thought out and with purpose too. Unlike today's flash and glam houses that are horrendous.
Honestly, this is very impressive. I follow a game streamer who's been playing Starcitizen mostly and even HE was impressed with how the game played out.
It's amazing how this was all done by ONE guy. Highly impressive and his passion for the game shows.
Just really love this channel ❤
Time to make thy bread.

Anyone tried “Farthest Frontier”? Underrated medieval city builder
Gonna be real, I’d love it if you had a game that was a mix of this and Medieval Dynasty, not only planning things out like this from topside, but also getting to go out and take part in the tasks themselves. I understand that’s not something a lord is typically shown to do, but it’s always nice to break the norm
God bless Gamranx. I appreciate these reviews so much when I’m really interested in a game, but unsure if I want to commit.
Looks like a spiritual successor to Banished. Can't wait to try it
it's in game pass already :)
Also no denuvo, so you can get it for free
Guys its not Jamie Lannister...how'd he get back his hand?
The things I do for lover
Voldemort gave him new one
It's Jamie's Scottish cousin.
He kinda forgot he lost a hand
its an old photo of him... duh! ;)
This really reminds me of the Impressions era games like Caesar 3 and Lords of the Realm. This looks right up the alley for anyone who wants a cozy city builder with a little bit of combat. I'm super excited.
There are so many gameplay elements from Lords of the Realm II in this game. And that makes me so freaking happy. Every so often I install that game and how nothing else does it like that. And boy does this game scratch that itch.
Thanks for this! Looks like my kind of thing
This game is Stronghold+Banished+Total War and I love all 3 of them and all 3 of them had something missing in them, and that was the other two games. Now someone made a fusion of all 3 games and it is awesome.
Strongold lacked battle tactics and deeper survival aspects.
Banished lacked anything military.
Total War lacked anything city building and micro managing your town.

I would really like to see the "3rd person mechanic" expanded to also include combat. Where you could fight along side your troops but not making you OP. And possibly peanalizeing you if you get "knocked out" in combat.

With KC:D and this, my medieval gaming desires are covered. Hopefully this trends back with the larger companies.
Ive been waiting for this game since 2019 as well and I'm so excited to finally play!
What do you mean medieval buildings were not elaborate?
Compared to laying hollow brick over hollow brick in a straight line and few corners and what ever they do in USA with paper walls or whatever, medieval buildings had very nice looking wooden beams filled with dirt/wheat /clay mix and white washed with lime which decorate the house , overhanging walls, different shapes , different materials from foundation to the roof top .Also combat isn't just spice , you use your villagers which are used in the chain of production as soldiers meaning if any of them die will be like throwing a bunch of wrenches in a cog wheel
Hey thanks Falcon, glad i can watch these with my kid next to me and not have to worry about what she might hear, thats pretty rad

I bought it, played it and it is great and I will continue to play it and wait for updates because it is really worth it, Manor Lords will be most likely the game that will be on par with Anno when it comes to city building enjoyment. Game kicks ass and with Kaiserpunk and Frostpunk 2 that will come in a couple of months time I will have a blast with city builder games this year!!
This game looks so chill im looking forward to picking it up
That Scottish land title sponsor should jump on advertising around this game...
So glad to see a review that clearly stipulates that this is a city builder first and foremost.
Too many "influencers" focus on the combat.
It is like the Caesar or Pharoah games; combat is there, but it is a tiny part.
EXACTLY. People are calling this a total war game, but the entire point of this game is to be a city builder game with complex variables lol
Maaan haven't watched Gameranx videos in a while. Good to hear Falcons voice (just waiting to see his face)
i was so waiting for this one :X
I find it strange that we expect billion dollar gaming companies to monetize their games and indie/single developers to not monetize. This guy most likely would benefit from monetizing the game but then everyone would hate his game even though it would give him money to make a better game. Food 4 thought.
The game is monetized, you buy it. That's what gamers want.
Thanks i made sure to buy it before the sale ends on may 10
I am soo excited to play Manor Lords
Never pre-order.
I remember playing this as a demo during the Steam small developer event a while back and then emailing the developer to please let me be a beta tester because I loved it so much. I bought Farthest Frontier to kind of scratch that city builder itch but it just wasn't as much fun as this one, I am looking forward to pay day when I'll be able to buy this
i havent played "Manor Lords" yet, but the fact you mentioned how burdensome is to equip your units is actually a good flashback from the past for me. I played alot of "Knights and Merchants" and to build an army was so f* hard its kinda nostalgic
I don't play much city builders but this one intrigues me.

What’s here is utterly fantastic and the dev should be SO proud. What worries me though is the same thing that makes all this impressive - it’s one guy.
How long are we looking at until this is a full release? How long between patches since this is early access? It took 7 years to give us what’s here, how long for everything else?
Very much looking forward to it, albeit a little apprehensively.

Definitely reminds me of Stronghold. This could be amazing. Super hyped
Honestly, one thing I would love in the video game and they might do this in the final version is the king that you get to walk around as it would be nice if you could customize the character, you know, put clothing or armor on the sims.
I read that the lord portrait you select in the beginning is supposed to determine who you look like in game but that it's not implemented yet
This sounds like a super old school rts/city builder that I have never been able to find an equal to. It was a crazy obscure game made by JoWood called nations. Sometimes known as alien nations over seas.
Thing i liked the most about the game is the developer himself. He put a post saying there's going to be 25% off sales very often and don't need to feel for any FOMO/ pressure
Looks good. Excited for 1.0. I hope the dev opens it up to mods.
