I just started listings a week ago, and you offer me so much hope! It sure does take way more time to do the listings than I ever thought it would. I can design fast, but getting them listed properly has a learning curve. I'm hoping I get faster!
Hey heather did you say you only sold one color of a sweatshirt for a design? I often want to do that without having to worry about multiple colors and then the design colors need to change depending on some. So spot on with many of these points. It’s not free at all to start and not a passive income. So much upfront work, research, learning curve. InfUrIating. Have a wonderful birthday ❤
Hey there! I sold multiple colors of the Gildan 18000 with one design style I scaled to over 20+ niches/microniches. I typically sold the Ash, Sports Grey, White and Sand the most. I did the design scaling with multiple design styles but one took off the most for me. Thanks for watching and hoping this helps! ❤
Thank you for sharing this! ❤ There are so many aspects to this "side hustle" that are not that appealing. But like you said, if you have passion for designing, then you are motivated to do the "lonely" work and get through. This video was very encouraging for me ❤
Your video really helped me, also when it comes to the hardships and especially worries I sometimes have about my new shop. Thank you :) Im thinking about joining your membership, also because the loneliness part of the business is true for sure. 😄
Thanks Heather for the live this morning and this video! Well-crafted message! There is misleading info circulating around, and your msg really help! I am a newbie here, and it took me a while - still in the process - to figure out. Specially in regards to the initial investment and "copycat". Could you recommend any video of yours in regards to Trademark & Copyright training? Any other one that best describe your creative process to develop an original design? Do you have any Canva video training? Thanks a million!
On the topic of copying products, do you copyright all of your designs? I have asked numerous print on demand RUclipsrs and no one will respond to that question. Is this some sort of unspoken word in the community that no one really does?
I know that If you are the original designer, by default, once you create the design you already own the copyright. Sure, you could go and actually register it officially if you feel that you would want the extra legal protections of a government registered copyright to protect against infrigement. But for every single design I think, for most people doing POD and creating lots of designs, it would be a waste of time not to mention cost prohibitive. I have a feeling it's more than a couple of bucks to register. :) IANAL (I am not a lawyer) so this is not legal advice. :)
I do not trademark or copyright all of my designs nor have done any of them. Trademarks take up to over a year to file and by that time, most of my designs have already hit 'peak' sales that the cost of a trademark filing with a lawyer is just a loss in profit. The cost of trademark filing I've found is $300 to $1000+ and there are ways to do it on your own, but that can be a nuisance and lead to a incorrect filing that can delay your trademark by months to years. That's what I personally have found and my own experience. A lot of RUclipsrs probably do not respond as when it comes to anything that's legal talk- we cannot give legal advice nor are legal entities and per law we have to also disclaim that in any time we respond to any legal questions. We can only provide our own experiences and recommend people to seek legal professional advice as what works for me is not something that may be good for your business in the long term in reference to trademarking or not trademarking a phrase/design. It's a case by case scenario and that's why it's always good to seek legal professional guidance related to your store and not just generic advice. I hope this helps(although probably not much) and that maybe some other interviews with RUclips lawyers help more than I can too! I hope to get a lawyer on the channel eventually here as well in the next year so hoping we can also get these questions answered by a professional. 🤞
“Infuriating” 😂. Love this video Heather! I think POD is like any other career, you have highs and lows, just keep walking towards the end. I understand that loneliness. Glad I’m not the only one. Thanks for sharing!💕
What infuriates me is seeing shops where almost everything they’re selling is trademark infringement, yet they never get these designs taken down and are successful. There is one shop I’ve peeked in on multiple times, and almost everything is a movie quote or song lyric. I don’t want to run my shop that way. I have integrity. But it just infuriating seeing people make money off someone else’s idea.
Hello Heather, thank you for this video. Really it is an important point you've touched. My question is this, Could it take more than 8 hours when you get busy?
Which product are you looking for? Printify, Printful, Merchize, Gearment.... If you looking for clothing and ornament with good base cost you can try Merchize
the problem with POD, there are so many designs, how do you know people want to buy yours and you have to list at least 100 not knowing you can sell them ? in the mean time, you have to pay listing fees etc, when you say you design yourself, how do you know they like your design ?
Infuriating 😅. I’m new to this business model and I am sometimes overwhelmed with how many sellers are already on Etsy. I do hope POD projections come true.
Mam I am from watching your video in india. I want to start my pod business with etsy. But I am not sure that I can create an etsy Store in india 2024. Please mam guide me what I can do.
can you please provide me a single desighn that i will sell on etsy a t shirt desighn as helping me, because i lost job and i have etsy account , your only one design can help me earn something to feed my kids
Congrats to you on proving people wrong whether you intended to or not. Being free from a 9 to 5 for something you’re more passionate of is amazing
Omg Thank you so much I started my online business September 10th 2024 & still waiting for support

Philip Anders youtube channel recently had a lawyer talk about copy rights.
