Just bought my ‘19 lx with a 6-speed a week ago. Absolutely love the car so far! It’s trimmed down but I actually value simplicity over novelty so cash aside it’s a preference
You also get port injection for longevity. Change the oil and drive it like your half way sane it will last forever. I wish they put them in the hatch. Don't think the same can be said for 1.5 turbos with GDI.

Excellent review. It's refreshing to see a review of the lower trim level vehicle. I really like the digital speedometer display, manual trans, and the "fastback" style.
The ‘no turbocharging’ and ‘no push start’ should also be included in the good because normally aspirated engines last longer and the push start/keyless entry system is one more thing to cost money down the road should it tear up.
The keyless entry systems on these Cars are some of the Best in the Industry..... No problems whatsoever in 20,000 Miles now even in -35⁰F weather starts Right UP everytime 😎.
i have a 2020 lx with a 6 speed manual. I love this car. I definitely recommend the 6 speed manual over the CVT. Easy to shift. Fun to drive i'm getting 35 city mpg, 40 mpg hwy. My first civic after 7 toyota corollas.
I had a 2018 LX Coupe and I absolutely loved it. It was a blast to drive. I honestly miss that car sometimes. It is the best standard Honda vehicle I've ever driven.
I have an 05 civic lx/4 door/ 5 speed manual transmission. I have 196,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance done on schedule. Still running like a clock.
I just picked up my 2020 crystal black pearl Civic LX 6 speed manual today with the upgraded 17" performance tires and black rims and the car is so fun to drive and looks amazing!!!! I love it!!!

I've had the car about five months now, I left the performance tires/upgraded rims on the car all winter and they did fine and I drove ALOT in the New England winter! I have moved from 25 years of Honda to Lexus, as I am a little older and wealthier. As much as I love Lexus, I miss the sheer simplicity of Honda. Such wonderful cars for the money. Unbeatable.
Joe Steele - unfortunately I would need CVT. I’m a delivery driver and a manual trans is just too impractical in daily traffic and constant short trips. Otherwise I would never buy a CVT.
A CVT is no fun, but could be a good option for older drivers. Leg cramps is common among the elderly and with a manual box, it could be dangerous should cramps develop while driving, especially in stop and go traffic.

I used to have a Prius C that got fantastic fuel economy but the overall price of that car was too expensive. I just recently got a 2019 civic with the 6 speed manual and I love it. But I'm a manual lover and most people today prefer an automatic. The manual was a great price though.
Les Moore Look at the crash test rating NHTSA for the Forte. Terrible in frontal crash test. The IIHS and NHTSA do their crash tests differently, so it’s better to have a car that did well in both. We were considering the Forte until we saw that.
Unfortunately, you can’t get Rallye Red or Aegean Blue on the LX trim unless it has the CVT transmission. I’ll have to pay a bit extra for the Sport trim instead. :/
awesome review! I’ve only seen a couple of driving videos with the base model. Seems like a perfect daily driver that you can ring out. The 2016 lx manual is what I was looking at to save a little money.
This Honda Civic‘s are hard to Find with a six speed manual transmission I live in Southern California I’ve been searching for the base model like this in this video and they’re hard to fine, The lots are filled with a bunch of civics with CVT’s 😛 it’s a bummer I hope it’s not too late to find one with a manual transmission on a base model LX before they are discontinued
no turbo--love that. six speed manual-love that. wish they still had the k engine (2.4) in the accord. my 2008 has the upgraded 2.4 with the 7200 redline- this is where it's at for me. your reviews are great and the best ones out there for me!

The dealerships(Vancouver BC Canada) never stock such trim. Very much appreciated sir! About the handbrake, back in the days before DSP, you could get yourself out of a terminal understeer by pulling the handbrake. Besides, having been driving stickshift for decades, I find it hard to have an electronic parking brake. A lot of them will tend to hold them for too long and you end up stalling on an incline. That's what I don't like it.
It’s hard enough to come by a Sport trim Sedan with the 6 speed; I almost never see them on the LX trim. The only dealer site I’ve ever seen them is on one located in Cerritos California (the world’s largest Honda dealership) and I live in Georgia. I’ll probably have to specially order one.

I actually favor a naturally aspirated engine. There's so few of them left in Honda's lineup. And I don't mind not having a push button start. I wish they still offered a hand brake, though. Manual over electronic, all day, every day. Good car, good review.

I believe the 6-speeds for 2021 are exclusively Hatchbacks. I was able to get a brand new 2020 Sedan LX with a 6-speed 5 months ago, perhaps one of the last ones out there.
Thanks for reviewing the base 2020 Civic LX model. But when I checked at Honda USA's website and started to build one, there was no 2020 Civic LX with 6-Speed Manual Transmission. There is one but for the 2019 model year.
Very true, just checked myself. Looks like the manual is dead in the base model, so if a person wants a regular Civic in a manual they only have one trim - Sport or Sport Touring (hatchback only).

4 years late but no, it does not suffer from rev hang whatsoever. I had a 2018 LX Coupe and there was no rev hang in that car whatsoever. It was my favourite car I owned because of it.

Now suppose you need to park on an inclining driveway.........and, for some freak reason, the electronic mechanism happens to malfunction.......what would happen to your "parked" vehicle?? 🤔
As of November 2019, you can’t buy an LX in manual anymore. The cheapest package in a manual is a sport with that dumb center exhaust. You’ll have to get creative if you want to install a receiver hitch for a bike rack of sort.
Auto up and down windows suck! Sun roofs suck. CVT ‘s stink. When will Honda ever put more lower back support in their seats? This is the best car for the money! Would love this car with a standard auto. trans.

Only 37? That’s seem low compare to other cars. This car is capable of 40+. Guess it all depends on other environmental and mechanical factor.

Bro the sport is cheaper, comes with manual transmission, bigger wheels, and the wheels are blacked out..... you got ripped off plus also comes with fog lights and better suspension
