Making the Beat with Statik Selektah
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 июн 2013
- Statik Selektah recreates the beat for "Bird's Eye View" step by step. Watch as he arranges the instrumental, adding scratches and original organ notes. He then explains how it was originally for an unreleased Nas remix, but ended up getting Raekwon, Joey Bada$$ and Black Thought on the track.

Lol, "This is Black Thought's verse. This was done in one take." Well, what do you expect? It's Black Thought...
Statik, you got such a mad ear for ear for samples, laying groovin drums perfectly on them and then add additional instruments! Plus them cuts always add that special flavour, literally "the icing on the cake" ;)!!!
he goes nuts on his joints. pisses me off, lol.
Zeke Lopez Modern day premo ;)
one of my favorite beats of all time, Great show!
Statik has been been consistent for mad long
I love seeing others and their processes. I've seen a few folks use pro tools to chop and eq/put effects on their samples. I've never done it, but it's always interesting to see.
The people just have a sincere appreciation for the art created by Statik Selektah.
That Boom Bap stuff is that real Hip Hop ish...
For a producer who has his artists record in his closet, Statiks shit is always nice. Hell undoubtably be a legend.
Drop the Nas version! Peace Black and Rae. Crazy beat/vibration. Statik good look
One of the best songs of the year. My fav song

This one of my favorite Statik beats and black thought's verse is insane.

Statik made it look easy.
My favorite joint off one of my favorite Statik Selektah albums!
I love the simplicity of the beat. Song turned out dope.

MONSTAAAAH!!!!!
what is he using to chop the sample
The sample he pulled sounded dope its raw form too. MOP woulda killed the raw version .
Dope Shittt
i love that shit bro
I love that dude still has a fairly laid back set up. Black Thought was basically rhyming in a closet. No bullshit studio, this is real hip hop, making due with what you have. Such a dope song.
What mixer is that white one
@tenacity47 the song is called regeneration by DJ premier and nas. Still a dope song.
Anyone know what turntable that is? Thanks.
What mixer used?
pre-serato sampler. nice!
which instrument is used for the bass line? Tell me please...
Because OF COURSE Black Thought's verse is a one-take perfect wave done at the last minute.
What sampler is that on the Mac???
Oh I see, you are trolling. You had me for a sec.
Which programme is this?
what was the plugin he used when he said "add some bass to it" Did he end up adding own bass note or just boosting what was in the sample
Waves Renaissance bass..it boosts the subharmonics of the bass in the sample
Sample is Dorothy Morrison - Peace, Brother Peace
What was Nas is remix
not bad !
wut mixer is this man
who knows what the white mixer beside is called?
the brim on that snapback though ...
holy shit-drop that nas remix stat!!!! do it on your own man-that sounded hella dope
Ahhhhhh Shit man this That Heat
hats off to stoupe!
Spencer what does this have to do with stoupe?.. lol
Why didn't this remix for Regeneration ever come out?
the Nas Verse
there's no nas verse
Waves Ren Compressor first in the chain:)
I’m gonna start using serato to find samples more because i dj and I feel like it will help me out
Iron Board Records statik is the first person I’ve seen chop a record for beatmaking using cue points on Serato, lol.
Can someone tell me where I can listen to that unreleased NaS joint
+JR_98 Where you just heard it lol. He's probably never gonna release it.
Tha Soloist it's "unreleased" lmao
Nas actually used that verse with Preemo and the Berkeley Orchestra for a promotion with Hyundai ruclips.net/video/IWDV1rn-BMI/видео.html or search Nas Regeneration
Just think how much incredible unreleased music is out there...
