I remember watching this on tv when I was a kid lol, I've always had it stuck in my mind but until now it never occurred to me to look it up on youtube.
I loved This when I was little. I even had a crush on Jim Stafford. I keep wishing for a cable channel that runs all these old variety and entertainment shows. This one would be top of my list

I was born in the late fall of 1978. The Very Charming, Very Delightful, Very Entertaining, Very Funny, Very Handsome, Very Intelligent, Very Witty Singer, Comedian, Musician and Songwriter Jim Stafford should have been in the movies! He would have been great in movies like the movie 1980 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton, the 1981 movie The Incredible Shrinking Woman with Lily Tomlin, the 1992 movie Straight Talk with Dolly Parton, just to name a few!
I wrote a second verse to this song.... I once went over, to visit my neighbor. I walked right on through the front door. Over came Rover, on the floor he rolled over, and showed me the doggie back door. 🐾 🎶 Don't Pet The Dog....
@@petemavus2948 I found he had a wicked sense of humor and put on a show I would not hesitate to take my children to. My eldest son was married in Kansas City, MO. As a wedding present, I rented a much bigger car than my wife and I would ever need and we drove the 200 or so miles to Branson for three nights where he and his new wife also saw Jim Stafford. At the time, like 20 years ago, Branson had the best 36 hole inside golf course I have ever seen, and ended up playing it twice while we were there.
@@blackholeentry3489 That's what was so nice about his show, it brought out the humor and wonder of childhood and the simplest joys. Glad you had quite the memorable experience there too !

Sooo true and terribly embarrassing 🙈especially if it happens to be your dog. Reminds me of something my son-in-law told me. A repair man went into a house 🏡 to repair something and a small dog 🐶 attacked him, barking and trying to bite him. The woman was there and she called in a loud voice, Cricket, Cricket!!! Unfortunately the man thought she had said, kick it, kick 🦵🏻 Oops 🙊, just a slight misunderstanding. She told you her name was Cricket NOT kick it. 😳😳😳😳😳😲😲😲😲😲

I saw Jim Stafford at the Fresno Fair in 1976 or 77. The show was a blast!! I still talk about it!!🤣🤣💕💕🎶🎶
I saw him at Magic Mountain in Valencia in 1974, as a young teen... He's always been very funny and gifted.
Stafford's Branson show is one of the best.
Wish I had got down there before he retired.

This guy is a comedy genius and severely underrated.
I don't recall the years, (early 90's I think) but I saw him several times at his theater in Branson, MO. He was always my favorite.
@@blackholeentry3489I saw him there too and a genuinely simple "wink of an eye" good time. 👍 An innocent joy.

❤️ this man . So funny and unique. Love the way he laughs at his own songs. Lol
LOL!! Never heard this one before, but I know what a genius Jim Stafford is.
"Not Just Another Pretty Foot" is one of favorite albums. I'll be 71 on Halloween, loved it since it's release. Needs an audiophile version! 😂

My #1 all-time favorite tune. And yes, I have great taste in music.
I used to have friends with a dog like that. They sometimes called him "humpty Louie"!
Good stuff, I miss these old music/variety shows.

Little River Band: underrated group.
Love this song!! Hheaaardd it from Pinkard & Bowden a few years back
The song has so many meanings.
Funny guy. Very talented.
I never knew he did this song. The version I always heard was the one by Pinkard 'n' Bowden.

This version was the first one I heard.

It's like that Free Show, Seymour joke about the two dogs.
Wildwood Flower and My Girl Bill cracked me up.. ingenious sobgwroter..
Fun people.
Always very funny.
Jim, you're also right that a dog commits, be it to grabbing your leg or barking at you 24/7, like my brother in law's dog does to me!
Great stuff
I've heard this song before by Dr. Elmo Shropshire of "Grandma Got Run Over..." fame.
back when you could be funny with out filth
You really think people weren't telling dirty jokes back then? It's more that society was so tight assed that everyone had to pretend to be a prude.
This is pretty dirty What do you mean
Because this song isn't dirty... xD
I think they meant crude unless we've got a "Church Lady" pearl clutching type. 😜🤣😁
love it😂
Super talent. What was that movie that He sang "Cow Paddy" Any which You can in?? He's really something else..!
Funny but good advice
I agree too good voice.
Evidently you all do not remember his Tv series from the 70's !
Flip on their little blend lol
And here I was thinking that Pinkard and Bowden had kept this one for themselves.
What can you say about the best but right on man keep going 💪
I forgot that classic funny song
CRIKEY, YEAHHHHHHHHH
"If tinwhistles are made of tin, what do they make for horns
Lol 😂 lol I am dying lol
Lol 😂 😂 OMG
Yeah he sure kicks it out there don't he , one of my other favorites is a Ray Stevens yeah
Real comedy rather than the political vulgarity that is an excuse for it these days.
Exactly! Those were the best times right there!! Real humor and good music!
Absolutely!
The vulgar politicians needs to be used in comedy
If you'd like some more that is stellar level and have never seen it, do yourself a favor and look up some Victor Borge...you will thank me.
