The thing is Yves travel timing to Egypt economy wise was not good. This timing coincided with the devaluation of currency by half. The pound value went from 16 EGP to around 25 EGP / $. It was rising. And as of writing this comment (2023) EGP value has gone to 30EGP / 1$. So in general prices were changing these past few months and a lot of places did not have time to update and change prices. The price you paid for Kofta is fair around that area. Sometimes in doubt you can say that "i can see price written here is 30EGP". Normally people will be polite and explain that that was old price etc.
Yves, I think you sometimes make it hard on yourself by enabling people when say many Hi/s and look at them making them think you need them, sometimes to make your life easier, just move and ignore people calling you. Keep up the good work
The food prices in the background are old prices due to the devaluation of the Egyptian pound. He gave you the new price. He is a good man. Do not worry. This is common in Egypt. You find prices on the menu that differ from what the seller says because of the high prices and nothing more.
LOL Kino. I like how you said it was 30 on the menu after the fact but the guy charged you 40 lol. The thing about those markets its like you rarely see any price tags (but it appears there is a price/menu price on some of the food items). Great video as usual.
It may be due to inflation, if the prices changes too fast sometimes they don't update the menu. The only way to be sure is to stick around and see what prices they give to locals.
Due to the Rapid Change in the Price in egypt the majority of the stores in egypt were Not able to update the price in thier menu's. Specially that this will cost him extra money to print new ones so we in egypt we got use of that That there are some differences between prices in menus and what is real life So the man did not do something wrong
