Wow, thanks for this. In Battlefield 4 on my four year old PC, I went from 48 fps w Medium settings, to 60 FPS and ULTRA. Best part is, its sooo much smoother now; no more hiccups and stutters. Unbelievable!! Best "fix" ever! Easy too... just follow the directions exactly. I couldn't find the app available anymore so just did exactly as instructed here. I have an 8 core i7 processor and four cores were parked... not anymore!
Thank you.. this video helped out a lot. I have an 8320 8 core and 4 of them were staying parked. I applied a hotfix from microsoft for Windows 7 and fx processors.. then did this.. now everything is running tip top.. even my games are doing better.
If the search doesn't work you'll have to do it manually: click on the arrow to the left of the following folder names: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM ControlSet001 Control Power PowerSettings 54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583 (There are two so set the 'ValueMax' on both to 0)
You should not do this four times as he said in the video. You should only do this on "CurrentControlSet", if it does not work you can then reach for "The Last Known Good" in the boot menu. If you change all this as he tells, your PC may not start att all, and you can´t get it startet because you have changed all the values in every "Last Known Good". CurrentControlSet=> Is where your computer settings are right now. Current login. (Change here) CurrentControlSet001=> Is the last known good log in. Last time the log in worked (Do not change here) CurrentControlSet002=> Is the second last known good log in. Second last time log in worked (Do not change here)
After I put the registry key in and search for it, it won't pull up any files and just shows where I opened regedit to initially. any idea on how to fix this?
You should add one thing to your description, and that is to restart your PC after editing the registry. It won't take effect until this is done. Great video, though. Thanks!
Unfortunately this program isn't working for me it seems. I ran the UnparkCPU application in the file and did the check status like you said and unparked the cores and restarted my computer but it did not unpark the cores. All that came up when i clicked check status was a chart that had #, Value Name, Value, and Status. I have # 0-2 on an i7 and the valuename was only Value max, I set the values to zero, and the status says unparked. Any ideas as to what may be going on?
Hey, Ive done it exactly how you explain it changing the values to 0 however when i restart my laptop the cores are still parked and the values are still 0. Any idea what could be the problem?
I have an i5-2450m inside my toshiba portege laptop and i went into the recourse monitor and it says theres only one cpu core, it doesn't say that theres more cores that are parked. intel's site says the i5-2450m is a dual core processor with hyperthreading so it should look like i have 4 cores, but it doesn't, please help
So I tried this because it was suggested as a fix for stuttering issues in Battlefield 4. Unfortunately, it did not work at all for me. Although the resource monitor didn't say that any core were parked, the application did say 3 of them were, so I used it to unpark them (which didn't help me). Is there a reason to want this setting back to default and if so, how do I put it back to default?
by the default, laptop power options is set to Balanced (recommended). but if you set it to High performance option.. that will unlock all your cpu (unpark)
I'm having problems. I've changed the ValueMax to 0, change the advanced option in boot to 4 processors, tried all available programs to unpark core. But still, 2 of 4 CPU's are parked. I need help here!
Tried the APP, it doesn't work for me. Doesn't show everything that's parked and doesn't unpark what it DOES show. Tried the reg edit, but it only has me do it 4 times, they were all zero anyways, and I have 8 cores. Still 3 parked, ugh.
Hi i did this but by mistake i never put 0 in valueMax and now when im trying to do it again they wont shot up when im using the registry key. Any ides to get it back?
Hello again, I downloaded the application and when I click on it I merely get an error that says "application not found" and my cores are still parked. Do I have to extract the files or move it into another area other than my downloads? Thanks for the help by the way.
i dropped all the ones i could find that were labeled ValueMax and ValueMin to 0. Not everything. I did this for about 6 sets. Will it mess my computer up? I didnt click find next i just went down the list
Mine doesn't say "parked" but its not set to zero either. instead of having 0.00000000 (0) mine has 0.00000064 (100) for valur max. Should I set it to zero anyway?
I accidentally went down the list of all these and just started dropping them to 0 instead of searching next and doing it over again? Will my computer get messed up.
I have done that only had to do it twice but follow those steps exactly but all my cpu are still parked. i have 8 cpu my OS is window 8 processor is i7 gen 3 ... while running a game i looked at the cpus and they unparked between cpu 0-3 i want to have them all always unparked
I HAVE A PROBLEM my cpu is a i7 3820 its unparked but its running really badly in bf4 I was getting around 70+ fps but after the unpark its hitting around 5 fps pleas help
Thank you so much, hun. I just did it with my i7, 4 of my cores were parked. Now I am running all 8, and I am noticing a lot of difference. Thank you so much.
I believe this changed in Windows 7 (recently?). Currently the description of the keys is: "@%SystemRoot%\system32\powrprof.dll,-766,Specify the minimum number of unparked cores/packages allowed (in percentage)." That's basically the opposite, so I had to set both keys to Decimal 100 to have it not park cores. Take care.
Didn't work for me... still got about 4 cores parked. I don't have like 4 cores parked at a time. The letter "parked" flashes on cores. I even tried the application.
can someone help me. i did this method once and i didnt do one step right. now when i search the key again it keeps on saying finished searching. how do i like search through again?
email support i would say..i am not an expert but think there must be a way !! or its built that way. both cases Support is your best friend or Google.com.
Lol, eight cores and none of them are docked. But, I check this area in my registry and the min values aren't set to 0. Am I considered to be lucky or is something going horrible wrong?
no ur lucky the games launched will all run normally newer cpu's dont require unparking as they run synked with eachother so they all take the same beating usually u can tell if ur computers messing up if the cpu value's arent the same under a 100% load
Not just laptops... got my first computer around 1982, built my first "pc clone" in 1991 and have been mad, at it since.. not to brag, exactly, are merely stating what I bring to the table.. Though I have purchased two pcs in my lifetime, two laptops, one, when I ordered parts from NewEgg, a few years back, spent $2000+ and built my latest (kick ass) rig, I also bought a Dell Inspiron Duo.. Sadly, after about 15 months, it crapped out... think it might have overheated. I did put a 60gb solid state drive int it and it rocked, overall... could fold the screen over and it turned into a "tablet"... and the other, I bought about 15 months ago, a decent Acer laptop, touch screen, mini... First "non intel" machine I ever owned (and used as a piece of everyday equipment) .. Anyway, this is not just a "laptop" issue.... however, I recommend un-parking the cores.Essentially, I want every bit of power available to run my machine. I do not overclock, and a lot of people ask me about it, but I'd rather run 2 or 3 computers at a time and mutli-multi-task, which I'm good at, than overclock one for.. why now? I get it, believe me, but I am also the type of person who will walk or ride a bike, when I could be driving around in a Porsche. I do tweak the crap out of my pcs. My game rig, and i7-2600k runs with a total of 30 processes running, max, including STEAM, the Steam Helpers and the game I am playing. I did run RAID 0 (ZERO) with two 60GB solid state drives in it, but I've been content for some years with just one 120gb SSD and a 1TB "scratch" disk. And I tweak the virtual memory to be a static size, approximately 1.5 times the size of my memory, 8GB, planned on grabbing another 8GB to fill the two empty slots but have been buying a lot of beer for some time as well, landscaping; after a long, hard day of work, I'm content to game a bit, but rather hold my babycakes close to my side and snuggle... Ya, I tend to go off on tangents and crank out some random blather, essentially, a friend asked me about this and sent me a link to this video and I just wanted to make sure you clarify, it has nothing to do with the machine, rather it is a default "Windows" construct. Happy New Beer!!
The reason as to why they park the cores is so it uses less electricity while running because it only uses a fraction of its core processing capability so that while you are running, say, Microsoft office word, you may only need to use one core instead of all seven. :) but I really don't care if my electrical usage goes up as long as my PC runs smoother.
Thanks, I was very skeptical, but this made BF4 go from an unplayable stuttering mess to completely smooth. FYI, I used the tool and it took a long time searching the registry, but after about 3 minutes or so it found the parked cores, after another couple minutes it unparked them, just be patient. My system specs in case it helps anybody else: Intel Core i7 930 @ 4.1GHz 6GB Corsair XMS3 Dominator ASUS Rampage III Extreme SLI Galaxy GTX 780 / Dell U2711 Creative X-Fi Titanium 512GB Samsung 840 Pro Silverstone Strider 1000W Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Thanks for the help, but your method didn't work for me. I'm running on a Windows 7 64 bit dv7 notebook and pathetically trying to run Wildstar on it, a game which is notorious on CPU usage. Unparking my cores might really help. Any idea why my cores are not unparking?
Great, I did this and now I cannot go onto my desktop. Thanks alot. Before I regedit, it said those registry were at 64 after I had changed them to 0. Anyway to fix my regkey? Use a windows disc? Anybody?! Please.
idea 1: Go to walmart, and buy a copy of AVG, any kind. The AV isnt important, but listen. / / / / / / / / / / / / / TROLL YOU JUST SCROLLED ALL THE WAY MWAHAHAHAHAHA

I am quite aware of that. And, just FYI. 2 of my cores were parked, which resulted in 4 parked threads (which are in fact, essentially cores). My CPU was running at half its power. Don't come in here and make a random nitpick at me, because you are bored. I don't want to hear it.
:( It corrupted my registry... I have to call tech support to fix it now. ... I just wanted my computer to use all 8 cores now I am shut down for the day.
computers use everycore they can its not if its parking or not most likely the cores that park are ones that dont see that u need to use them on a load put your computer under a load cpu entincive task uul see them work
Why, its a waste of money. Just go to safe mode, backup your stuff and reset. If that doesn't work, then plug in a another hard drive with a another OS and then take important files/documents off from the other hard drive and reset it.
***** YES ! 1000% i did everything the max and min changed to 0 and restarted my PC. I open the app it says it's all unparked but i open the resource monitor it shows parked.. HELP
Unless you're using a laptop you don't need to do this. You're system will unpark as soon as you jump into anything that really needs this power. AMD 8350 an 8 core CPU had 4 cores parked jump in BF for now all 8 cores are bring used. Didn't need to do jack all.
You dont need to edit registry this is very unwise for it screws up your power saving function making it worthless this is incorrect you have to disable all power saving function in bios and or go to power options in windows 7/8.1 and set to high performance and the change plan setting and then advanced and make sure the processor states minimum and maximum is set to 100 ALL cores will be unparked.
Thanks Greg, I come back to this video every time I setup a new Windows install.
Great to hear a Safrican voice when browsing technical vids.

Yeah right, there's no way a 4 year old pc can play Bf4 on ultra with 60 fps
Patrick Bateman
I have an 8 core i7 processor, 12GB RAM and HD 5770 w WIN 7. It does in fact run BF4 in Ultra at 60FPS. 62 to be exact.
Todd Melanson There is no such thing as an 8 core Intel i7, only 4. Unless you're thinking of threads, then you can have 4 cores, 8 threads.
You are correct sir!!
Thank you.. this video helped out a lot. I have an 8320 8 core and 4 of them were staying parked. I applied a hotfix from microsoft for Windows 7 and fx processors.. then did this.. now everything is running tip top.. even my games are doing better.

quick message to say thanks for going to the trouble of making this video to help us out there who cannot park a car never mind a cpu!!
Thanks again,
You should add one thing to your description, and that is to restart your PC after editing the registry. It won't take effect until this is done. Great video, though. Thanks!

Question, isn't there a BIOS setting to disable this in Power Management (or something like that) or is it strictly a Windows setting? Thanks.

Dell Inspiron N4110 64bit. I've already set ValueMin to 0 too. Or is there something I missed out?

What happens if when you click find next only default and acsettingindex shows thats all im getting from that part
mine has values 64hex and 100dec to the max. are they unparked or should I add a 0 zero?
mine were not parked but the value max was set to 100 an i set them to 0 was that the right thing to do?

I HAVE A PROBLEM my cpu is a i7 3820 its unparked but its running really badly in bf4 I was getting around 70+ fps but after the unpark its hitting around 5 fps pleas help
When i press "Rescue Monitor" is not opening, it just shows me an empty table, how can i fix this??
Wait i dont know why i can only unparked cpu 0 and 1 but i cant unparked cpu 2 and 3, pls help.
Thank you so much, hun.
I just did it with my i7, 4 of my cores were parked.
Now I am running all 8, and I am noticing a lot of difference.
Thank you so much.
Does this work for 6 core processors too? I have a FX 6300 and 3 of them are parked
When I search it I get the message saying it has searched through the registry but it takes me to a random place any ideas why?
Ive been doing the "put value to 0" for about 4 min. and it hasnt hit the end, should I keep going, plz help!!
i have a question my computer keeps freezing now that i have done this and i cant seem to figure out why
When i am in game it doesn’t work 2 cores become parked and the app becomes useless , can u help me pls ?
I believe this changed in Windows 7 (recently?).

how u do this on nexus 7 cuase mine is quad core.
i unparked the cores..
nothing has change in the performance..
in fact. i found it much slower//
please help
How long should it take to search the registry?
i followed the instructions but still it says it's parked.. what's wrong?
Before i reach that last page it says searched the whole registery. And when i change the values to 0 my cores are still parked
bitsum.com/parkcontrol/ take a look at this program, its free and you can park and unpark your cores with a single click
restart/reboot your pc after change the values
i only had to do this 2x with that REG key is that normal?
What if only the first search has a min max value, but you have 4 cores...
Thank you Greg Owen for this tutorial! Now I think that I'm gonna have more fun with my Lenovo T410 :)
can someone help me. i did this method once and i didnt do one step right. now when i search the key again it keeps on saying finished searching. how do i like search through again?
Dean Gander Same problem
Dude how can i know my CPU park or unpark... its soo blur pls tell me..
half my cores are still parked and it wont let me find the values so i can change em :/
have the same problem on my hp laptop
Max Stavro you need to change setting in BIOS and disable the core off feature as well.
Yea... My bios doesn't give me the option to make changes
email support i would say..i am not an expert but think there must be a way !! or its built that way. both cases Support is your best friend or Google.com.
How I can do it on Windows 10? I don't find this Values with the link
Does this work on the i5-3230m?
Lol, eight cores and none of them are docked. But, I check this area in my registry and the min values aren't set to 0.
Am I considered to be lucky or is something going horrible wrong?
no ur lucky the games launched will all run normally newer cpu's dont require unparking as they run synked with eachother so they all take the same beating usually u can tell if ur computers messing up if the cpu value's arent the same under a 100% load
This is wierd... CPU 1 & 3 Were parked now 2& 3 are parked..... GENIUS
How about overheating the CPU, is it safe or not?
Thank You worked perfect man. just wish I found this video before I screwed up my other rig.
doesnt work, Tried this but its still saying parked!
I searched for the registry and found nothing. I'm on Windows 7, FX-8350 with 4 cores parked...
Found it. There was a space at the beginning!
Using 10 Pro, none of my cores are parked (Ryzen 1600X).
Can i do this on my laptop? This will not damage cpu by overheating?
Thx for the vid anyway :)

heyy i somehow got all cpu's to work now thanks!! I made some changes around the advanced power options and it worked!! Thanks for the help!
After doing this my Cores are saying "Parked" and then are appearing unparked, and then parked, and then uparked.
same here, how do i fix this? or is it just a glitch and it actually is working

you say none of yours say parked...where are you looking for that?
hi whne i type the code i just find one so what to do ?
bitsum.com/parkcontrol/ Just use this
I've tried it about 5x + rebooted it just crashes everytime
Great, I did this and now I cannot go onto my desktop. Thanks alot.

damn this is a RESOURCEFUL video thank you so much
2 cores were parked for me :) Thanks a lot for this :D
@JakariHanma i did the same thing.. Lol not sure maybe try setting to recent restore my comp seems to be ok atm :s
Will this affect my warranty on my computer?
Possibly, yes. If your Warranty says any damage done by the user is deemed Void.
it shouldnt do anything as it is editing registry but then agian hackers crash computers editing registry if u run your games normally then dont edit it
i dont have registry editor! please help? thanks!
MrCentralSkate type regedit in search in start menu and open with admin or just simply open it
You should if your running any version of Windows beyond 98.
The program just crashed for me?
no option to set values, it doesn't have min value and max
fixed it, no worries
how did you fix it? i also cant fidn the min/maxvalue when i search
Yeah, neither
I love comments that they fix something, but they won't tell it to other people.
doesnt work, just says finished searching the registry
I am quite aware of that.
And, just FYI. 2 of my cores were parked, which resulted in 4 parked threads (which are in fact, essentially cores). My CPU was running at half its power.

Why, its a waste of money. Just go to safe mode, backup your stuff and reset. If that doesn't work, then plug in a another hard drive with a another OS and then take important files/documents off from the other hard drive and reset it.
Worked 100%! Thanks Greg.
It honestly would be easier for you to just copy paste where this key is. I've literally been searching 6 min through ctrl f and it hasn't found it.
You from S.A bud?
Can't you just change to high performance mode instead of doing this method?
It still wont work.
I had mine on high performance and when I downloaded a different program it showed that one of my cores was parked.
Nicholas T what software was that
Can break my processor from this?
Fressh HUN no
lol, no. If it did, it would only affect Windows or the OS.
Mine is still parked !! PLEASE HELP !
PLEASE HELP
***** YES ! 1000% i did everything the max and min changed to 0 and restarted my PC. I open the app it says it's all unparked but i open the resource monitor it shows parked.. HELP
bitsum.com/parkcontrol/ use this, does the process for you
try to set some feature about your cpu in bios turned off
Unless you're using a laptop you don't need to do this. You're system will unpark as soon as you jump into anything that really needs this power.
AMD 8350 an 8 core CPU had 4 cores parked jump in BF for now all 8 cores are bring used. Didn't need to do jack all.
There is a program called unpark CPU app and do this automaticaly
South African yes?
Is this safe?
Perfectly, but only for desktops and NOT laptops
Derek Byam Why not for laptops?
It can lower the lifespan of the laptop and damage the cores
GatsuLT It lowers the lifespan by alot andf can damage the cores
i mean .... u can break your computer instantly
4 out of 8 where for me!!!! thank you sooooooooo much!!! :D
Thanks bro!!! this deff works :)
DAAYUM thanks to you i got to know that i have 8 core Intel i7 processor :)
Exelent guide!
You dont need to edit registry this is very unwise for it screws up your power saving function making it worthless this is incorrect you have to disable all power saving function in bios and or go to power options in windows 7/8.1 and set to high performance and the change plan setting and then advanced and make sure the processor states minimum and maximum is set to 100 ALL cores will be unparked.
i search nothing
