I am about a month and a half into FF and I did my first savage and it was pretty fun! It's rewarding to me just getting the mechanics correct can't wait to do more.
Admittedly, doing with a bunch of friends is the right way to go. If someone's first experience was going straight to pf after watching a video, the mileage may vary.
Yeah man everyone says the PF experience is so much worse these days and that people are bad but honestly it's more that everyone's just impatient and wants every single person in the party to be better than them. I've yet to complete a savage fight I wasn't grinding after having already beaten it multiple times without every single person in the party causing a wipe at least once throughout the prog. The only consistent difference I've been able to notice between parties that clear and ones that don't are if the members of the group are patient and willing to help each other learn. I fucking hate this guide meta where everyone expects you to memorize the entire fight before you've ever even been able to queue into it. I genuinely don't understand the point of making fights so hard that it's mandatory for anyone other than world's first competing statics to use a guide. At that point, just make guides for the fight inside the game
Honestly this is what I need when I try to tackle the next tier in 6.4, my FC already has a static but thankfully people are happy to band together and help newcomers in the FC tackle harder content. I really wish they would take me on as a member of the static though
P5S was my first ever Savage in current content (I did P1S MINE before trying it) and I did the whole thing in Party Finder. Watching this video is immensely satisfying

I watched it and now I'm writing a comment, which is rare because I prefer to remain a lurker. Maybe you're secretly a primal, hard to say. Maybe it's the threats compelling me to type and show outward support of your content? Idk. But your videos are hilarious and informative and not a single one has disappointed me thus far. This one also didn't disappoint, even though it was slightly less intentionally educational. Ya'll made the savage content and even the dying look....enjoyable and fun?! I've been amazed by the community you've built, genuinely. As a shy mmo player the only reason I've wanted to get into any kind of difficult FFXIV content is for the mounts, minions, and glams (ofc). I assumed if I went down that route I'd be subjecting myself to the ridicule of jaded, miserable veteran players who would make me cry. (Like in other games). Especially as a healer. But when I pop into your Discord the vets are appropriately snarky at times, as is their right, without ever being mean to anyone. Everyone's helpful. Your videos with all the quality of life tips for HUD and mechanics and random sh- have helped me feel almost sane while healing. I thought I might just use Duty Support forever, but I've been queuing up with actual players, not even just when MSQ makes me. I o/ to people in my party and in my FC. I can keep NPC and reg players mostly alive now, without holding my breath for the entire dungeon, only the boss fights. I don't know who I am anymore, but in a good way. So, thank you, and good job.

@1:00 That tank swap has mothing to do with PLD's stance LOL. DRK had aggro and lost it for a split second, you see A appear on PLD momentarily and then see the target line from boss go to PLD. DRK needs his stance on and PLD just needed to shirk early to solidify the swap. That was mostly on DRK though LOL.
Yeah, just do it enough time, and you'll get used to it. current gear also help with dps check leeway. I used to do it until extreme, now I cleared p8s. and on the weekend the weekly limit was unlocked, I cleared like 13x on sat and sun alone. -I used to make powerpoint about all the mechanics in order, and put it on a tablet. -after some test run, you notice that not every mechanics need to be remembered at all, and solvable without thinking -then after a while I don't need to see the powerpoint at all. -then and after way too many times, I have less and less patience for trap parties. -But now after I got all the farm I need, I join prog parties for fun as I have no pressure to get any more gear. I think the number of days I need to clear this tier. Run 1 session, until get used to some mech, then watch guides, then 2nd session to try the guide the next day, and so on). p5s in 3 days (fri - mon just before tue reset) p6s in 4-5 days (tue - fri or sat) p7s in 1 day (sat to sun) p8s in 6 weeks. P8s was rough because of those who prog further will want to prog with other people who progged the same, then your party filled with those newer to the mechanics, and got trapped for days or weeks because of that. I've seen someone in PF whose name I remember was doing HC 1 when I was doing HC 1, and still is 3 weeks later. while I already cleared and got all the gear I want after clearing it 20x. That's the randomness of people in party finder. you got good party, suddenly from HC1 to aim to clear in 1 session. you got bad party, it's snake 1 prog or fourfold for weeks. But, as long as you know it's not your mistakes, it's not your problem anymore, just take it as party finder as it is. No matter what you do it is only 12.5% of the whole team.

I started in P1S a bit before this raid wing came out and I beat P1S first pull (in no small part thanks to an amazing raid caller and most of the team having experience). And took a few pulls to do P2S and cleared but stopped there since P5S and such came out. I have farmed P5S and it still trips me up more than even "harder" fights. I don't know what it is for sure, I just know that P5S is a bitch.

For me the only thing that matters is my team I just can’t do any content if players are assholes and I’m not scared of others players but a team can’t cooperate if there’s someone always bitching.
You didn't scream at people who made mistakes or harp on them for gray parse or kick them out for the group for not being superb right off the bat? That's not how my experiences with savage raiding went, and my group actually cleared P1S.

Rather than drop stance you can just shirk. That can also help. Use a macro to automatically target party member (the co-tank) and shirk on them
