Royal Enfield Himalayan Long Term Review, How has it held up? ( 2021 USA Model )

- After using the Royal Enfield Himalayan as my main transportation for a year, I give my honest breakdown of what I love and don't love about it.
No ninjas were harmed in the making of this video!
Starting in the next video I'll be accompanied by a new co-host - stay tuned!
almost...
These are the kind of reviews that count. Bikes that get properly used. Not the ''long-term'' reviews amounting to about two weeks that a lot of oversubscribed RUclips vloggers put out.
I do like a man who doesn't wash his motorbike.
Excellent review.
Hilarious!! 😂
Genuinely laughed out loud at the Honda paint pen 2001 Space Odyssey reference! Good stuff!
I'll make sure my wife reads your comment... she said no-one would get it. I told her I was keeping it in because my subscribers are smarter than average! Thanks.
@@UncleVoodoo ha! I got it too:) good stuff
I wonder how many people actually got the 2001 Movie reference? I thought it was one of the coolest references I have seen in a long time!! Loving your channel and enjoyed your zippo lighter story video!
Lol that was great
Not nearly as funny as the Indiana Jones skit
One of the great things about the Hima ownership is that they're mostly people like you who are having fun and not taking themselves quite so seriously as the GS people. What a nice added benefit. Love these silly yet informative vids, man.
This is one of the best reviews I've ever seen. I was already pretty much sold on the Himalayan but this really helped inform my decision. Almost certainly getting one within the next few weeks. Thanks.
Glad you liked it! I really pulled out the stops on this one but I may have shot myself in the foot as I’ve raised the bar on what viewers can expect when they see that I’ve posted a new video 🤦♀️. I’ve actually scraped 2 entire videos since this one because I felt they didn’t live up to this one. Thanks for the compliment and once again- glad you enjoyed it.
No other bike has a lightsabre...
An ACTUAL long term review, by an ACTUAL owner! As opposed to a "long term review" that amounts to a two week loan to an oversubscribed YT vlogger... BRAVO!! Had my 2020 model since December, 2019, and echo your thoughts exactly. Thanks for sharing.
Just watched that video you referenced too 🙄 I just got one of these bikes and I'm so excited
1 min into the video and I know Uncle you are a gem and we gotta cross paths in this lifetime. Cheers from India, waiting for Himalayan delivery in 10 days.
Two minutes in, and I already like this guy more than any mobike reviewer! Kudos, man!
You are hilarious! 😂 Indianna Jones is right.. 2018 bs4, no abs, no bs period. My wife loves to ride shotgun, says it's very comfortable. Had a faulty fuel pump relay, compass takes a vacation sometimes but seems to recalibrate itself, no complaints with the brakes. After all this time, I still love my mule!
English can be full of life, fun and so on!! If only one knows how to use the fixes!!!!
Excellent comment.
Thanks..ordering a 2022 tomorrow..been kicking tires but your approach sold me..
This was the funniest and most interesting video I watched this week... thanks for the data and please never change your great attitude towards life 💯🅰➕👌
I applaud you standing 👏👏👏
Thanks. I tried to pull out the stops on this one.
For the starting issues, you might consider an iridium plug. It’s a cheap upgrade and my bike runs and starts a lot better.
fantastic review. loved every bit of it. i share the exact same opinions.
hi ben
Thank you for making this video. I just bought one and have seen videos that make me concerned about it's reliability. But seeing your experience and how I plan to use it in the exact same manner, makes me feel a lot better. Thank you.
How do you feel about the Himi 6 months later ?
Fantastic video freaking hilarious. Love the Indiana Jones part it totally fits that bike. I picked up a 2020 with no miles on it in March, and put almost 12,000 miles on it since then. I love it. I will say that you and I differ on the comfort of the seat. After a long trip it's excruciating for me. I got an Air hawk pad and that helps a lot. I did a RUclips video on the fuel economy for the Himalayan over something like 52 fill ups, I referenced your video and mileage in there. We were right on the same wavelength. I've had it on the highway for too long stretches one was 650 miles and the other one was 550 MI * 2 for both ways and it runs at high revs a little bit but it's fine even at 10 hours straight. I prefer
Bestest Himalayan review i've seen.
Subscribed.
And funniest!
Not retro but timeless. I like it. Great review!
Very very on point.
I bought a 2022 model with 9miles on it this year and someone approached me and said, "What year is that thing it looks great!" I said it was a 2022 and it had less then 50 miles on it. He then said, "I didn't realize they still made bikes that look like that and He needed to get one!" Definitely a head turner if you like motorcycles that look like motorcycles should.
Absolutely brilliant video ! There can surely be no greater endorsement of a machine's "fit for purpose" than when you said that if circumstances robbed you of your current Himalayan, you would immediately go out and buy a new model, identically equipped as the bike you now have. Thanks very much.
Plus I love the daftness :-) .
Followed your accessories recommandations and it worked well for me too. Done 5500km now most on small mountainroads some gravel some tarmac. On such roads the lack of power is no issue. The only pity is the compass that's not working. An analog watch would have been a better choice. The bike is absolutely reliable and makes so much fun. Its even socializing.I've been addressed as I would carry a puppy with me. The bike just puts a smile on peoples face.
Thanks fot your vid - great cinema as always.
Clean, concise, informative and entertaining. The only thing Royal Enfield Himalayan can't do is transform into battle armour. Thank you.
Great review, concur with everything you said, just avoid motorways and keep to the back roads. I've got an Africa Twin which I love, but unless I'm carrying a passenger or need to get somewhere quickly, the Himmy has become my go to bike. I find sticking to it's happy place around 60mph I'm getting high 70's to a UK gallon which with the astronomical price of fuel here is a big deal. Loved the 2001 homage!
That bike will cruise 65 m.p.h. all day just fine.
Can we use a smaller sprocket for highway cruising speed at lesser RPM?
@@JohnDoe-zj6xf you could but that will affect its acceleration which isn't huge to start with. Best left stock in my opinion but you do you.
Just found your channel, after riding a himalayan for 8 months I cannot agree with you more on all these points. Couldn’t stop laughing on the unleash the donkeys part ahahahaha this bike is so imperfect that it’s become perfect for me and for what i ride 😅 it just makes sense and it gets the job done
2021: The Himalayan Odyssey . Epic review. Loved it. Come to India and ride with us soon. Cheers
I'd love to ride over there... if I could ever get enough time off work!
Thanks for watching.
1:37." This is what a motorcycle is supposed to look like ".
Thank you for your video.
I really enjoyed ALL the props.
You are very practical and down to earth.......like me. Maybe because I am 66 !!
If RE was available in my country, I certainly would have bought one.
Thank you very much.
Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Damn it, boy! Your production is fantastic for a YTer! Loved that 2001 A Space Odyssey reference!
This is now my new benchmark for bike reviews :D Thanks for a fun one!
Your Indiana Jones references still cracking me up -absolutely classic
I recently sat down and watched “2001 A Space Oddysey” with my grandson. I laughed at your parody with the paint stick. A good commentary on the complexity of simple things these days, and how simple things are usually better to use with much less frustration and muttering to yourself. Keep up the good work.
Viewing from the U.K., I found this review educational and funny. Tell it as it is, no BS. Immediately subscribed.
Just a big thanks for the video, I appreciate your added story telling elements from those 70's and 80's films. :)
Nothing I love more than unfiltered silliness. Really dramatic with it too.
Besides that really good honest review. Besides the gags there is absolutely no fluff. You may be happy to hear that with the later Himalayans and Scram the idling issue was fixed. I am not sure what caused it but apparently it can be fixed with a better quality spark plug. I think the later versions of the bike just idle a little higher. I was looking for a review like this as I am interested in the Scram 411 which is basically the same bike.
Love how honest this review is. Pros and cons done well, love the humour in this video too.
Very funny and all so true I agree 100% havin my Himi since 2018 and would never let it go. Thank you for very good "infotainment" - subbed.
Really great review. The Honda paint pen had me chuckle out loud. Thx for taking the time to make this vid.
This was one of the best videos I have seen hands down ever and it was so refreshing that you are not like most other RUclips personalitys who sell out for ads like this video was great funny and very informative 👍👍👍👍👍
Love mine. You pretty much captured why.
Also, the paint pen bit was glorious.
Sir, not only this review was very direct and informative, but also SUPER entertaining. Great video!
Your review style is awesome! Love the mix of good real life experience and your sense of humor
Bravo, sir! 😆😀
Well done on the Indiana sequence, and the rest was entertaining too.
Subscribed and awaiting your future antics.
Best Himalayan review ever👌
Got to get me one of those mini light Sabres, you never know when a mini ninja 🥷 will sneak up on you. 🤣
You gotta be ready at all times, ninjas are serious business!
Very entertaining, yet very informative. I was hoping to come across a Himalayan review that reassured me of my decision to purchase one and your video has done just that. Thanks for the review and amusing commentary.
Great video man. I found out some companies wanted to swap to all electric soon and decided I'd get a couple brand new gas powered bikes to keep forever. I started with the CT125 and am absolutely loving it. I was telling some buddies I was gonna get the Himalayan or a CRF300L. My wife overheard me talking and surprised me with a 21 himmy this Sept. I'm loving it! If I can swing it in year or two I may still get the 300. I rode a Zero, the baddest one you can buy. It was awesome, fast, more torque than anything I've ever ridden, but it was soulless. After an hour it was a snooze fest...... The electric bike isn't gonna be for me. Thanks for the video man. I have the video up of the night I got mine, I was in shock and still am!
I also have a CT125 and planning to get a Himalayan next year.
@@GroceryGetter-zq7zf I'm enjoying the heck out of my Himalayan man. Very cool machine.
Absolutely brilliant review from someone who has put this Bike thru the grinder! Funny & honest informative review I did laugh my ass off with the Honda & Ninja scenes very good! Just goes to show how good this bike is when used in the right environment! Well done!
Awesome video mate, enjoyed the humour! Keen to get my first Himalayan 🇦🇺
The paint pen montage is fucking brilliant!
I have had the same bike for a year and 6k miles. Your review is spot on. Around town and on the trail, its perfect. Even on the highway it's not that bad. I can cruise at 75mph all day so long as I am willing to take a hit to my mpg's (still better than a big bore bike). My only complaint is the windscreen to headlamp housing rattle above 4500rpm. The fix, like the bike, is simple. Just a bit of electrical tap lining the inside of the lamp housing and automotive door edge guards on the windscreen.
Last note about your review. The comments. Everywhere I go, people want to talk about the bike. Harley guys. Gixxer guys. Old lady's filling up their Buick. Everyone seems to love the styling.
Ive won 2 bike shows with a pair of bikes I used to own..... so it's fair to say I know a good looking bike when I see one.
I get more comments from random people on the Himalayan (and even more on my Honda Monkey) than those two bikes ever got.
Most sensible review. People don’t realize that the enfields and Mahindras seas are everyday bikes and cars for their users. The type that don’t wash the bike slug it through mud and get every single value for money and still survive for years
That was amazing! The review was on point but the humor and comedy was seriously impressive. Never seen such an informative and entertaining review.
Thanks, glad you liked it.
What a pleasant change to watch a bike review with bulls**t and funny too. I'm probably getting one for those trails in deepest Argentina.
The tripper on my 2022 is actually pretty cool, assuming you have cell service, plus they replaced the old compass with a gear position indicator in its place. Great review.
Amazing content mate, really enjoyed every minute of it, hilarious, informative and your a god damn badass 👍 keep up the great work!!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
This was truly a great review and extra entertaining with that 2001 A Space Odyssey homage & the ninjas.
The production quality on this is awesome.
Thank you Uncle Voodoo for this great video. This would be a great bike for Thailand and I am going to get one. Please wash your bike more often. Thanks again.........Sal : )
Nice one. I rode one a few years ago, having not ridden in a few years. I instantly felt comfortable and confident on it. I kind of fell in love with it. I ended up buying a DR650, and now own a 2016 Africa Twin - could I see myself on one of these in the future? Definitely. I hope they build a Himalayan SP with better suspension, brakes, and maybe 50hp - otherwise identical. - That is a bike we desperately need in the ADV market.
“Slow quirky bike adored by many people” Great intro!!
That 2001 Space Odyssey/Paint Pen reference had me dying laughing. I like this fella's humor.
Best review of a royal Enfield Himalayan loved it
Thats for a great honest and entertaining review, and real review by reviewing the bike for what is really is. I'm a Royal Fan I have a 650 and I love that bike, cheers buddy.
Nailed it. Excellent & honest review. I ride my Himalayan mostly for in town commuting but hope to do some green laning later this year.
Loved all the movie references 👍
I needed this video man thank you
Thank you for this video, my day is better,. And I am happy that there are people who still drive bikes for right reason. God bless
YOU are the best!!! that Space Odyssey 2001n sequence was absolutely AWESOME, i cracked up laughing, still grinning now. Dude, you are a true hero!
Maybe it’s the beer I just had but I found this video supremely entertaining. Like more than corporate media videos etc. You’ve got a new subscriber sir. 😎
I’m sure it was the beer, I’m not that good! 😂
I do find you funny, the things you say, the interesting experience between the dim head light and bright dash light, and the here we go again ninja thing at the end makes me crack up, good entertaining videos.
Thank you.
First video I've seen with you fantastic video just the right amount of corny humor at my age
This review is hilarious but very informative. Thank you!
24.5 horsepower. Great bike, great review. I own two of them.
Everyone makes review vids, nobody makes them like you! liked and subbed!
Thank you, much appreciated.
Laughed so hard at that Honda - Space Odyssey reference. Great review.
Best review of this bike on the Internet that I have seen.
Thank you!
Well, that was fun! Good to know you still love the bike. I've been thinking about a 300L instead, but I dunno......... that bike may be for ninjas.
The ninjas actually pulled up on Harleys.... go figure. lol!
I read somewhere that there will be no more builds of the RE Himalayan 411 as they will be switching production to the RE Himalayan 452 in 2024. I am so tempted to get a new 2023 RE Himalayan 411 while there are some still available. I currently have a KLX 300SM that I bought as a learner but now I am done with that and I want to do some long road trips. Great video BTW, I am now subscribed. 😀
I think the 411 will be a classic someday, the 452 not so much. I recognize that it's a "better" bike but it doesn't have the charm of the 411. The 452 is what made me jump to the Continental GT as I want to stay with the "old school" builds as opposed to the "modern" stuff with more electronics.
Funny as Review, I thoroughly enjoyed it thank you
Ha ha ha! enjoyed the video and your style of narration. The shot at 5:56 was excellent.
I would be honored to have a Bigfoot steal my bike. Hopefully someone would take an out of focus video of it and post it on RUclips. Great review sir.
What a cracking honest funny vid (proving to me personally ) after 2 and a bit years of himalayan ownership this bikes best thing is ...it puts a smile on your face atb from UK...😏👌
Great review. After a few RUclips videos I've pretty much decided this is the beast for me, and your video gives me even more confidence. Thanks! ps: Is the light saber key standard or do I order that separately?
It was a pre order limited time offer, the matching flux capacitor was really the icing on the cake.
The ninja would have left you alone if you had been wearing your chicken bone voodoo necklace. Never forget that piece of equipment! Awesome video!
Don't worry, the chicken bone is coming out soon.
I’m impressed it could even do a stoppie!
Glad you had the hazard lights for all my crashes… but the light saber key would have been more handy to start a fire and warm up in the snow!! Great review and I concur, I’d buy my Himalayan again if big foot stole it!
Ok who am I kidding… you know we both would come up with a plan to steel either of our bikes back from Big Foot… let’s be real here! Lololol
If you ever go riding again I'll be sure to use them for you... or Jeremy, who ever goes down 1st! lol. Actually I used footage of you as that was the only time I used the flashers in a video.
@@ThinkMud I'm game. I got a new .45 beefed up for 45 Super, thinking of taking it to .460. That should put a Bigfoot down no problem.
@@UncleVoodoo I always wanted to try .45 Super
The Chimp bit was ingenious... Unexpected but extremely funny...
Ape scene was hilarious, laughed out loud! Thanks for all of the honest info.
I have watched your videos from video 1 of you getting this awesome ride.
All I can say is, very well done! You had me laughing my butt off already, but I like to have spit my coffee out when you showed us the light sabre key! Was not expecting that! 🤣🤣🤣
Yep, very useful feature indeed! 😁🤣🤣
All joking aside,, Thanks for the very practical real world down to earth review on this bike. You said it, and I said it before on one of my past vids, things never do well when judged outside of their element!
Thanks, I try and keep you guys on your toes!
The rider, first, needs to read about " rides" that can be taken in the Himalayan mountains. For decades the company used royal enfield 350 cc street bikes. The roads that are ridden on are really off road and not trail blazing. This bike was designed to be able to " ride" the routes in the Himalayan mountains. Travel is not high speed, no jumps, roads can be rock strewn. Search you tube for these rides. This bike is for the laid back riding off road.
Haha, Well you earned a sub just for the 2001reference, Made me laugh. And I'm planning on buying one of these so been watching all the Himalayan RUclipsrs.
Rocinante sort of means "old nag" or "old horse" in Spanish. Also Don Quixote's horse.
What a great video, if I didn't own a Himalayan I would have gone out and bought one after watching that. I shall look out for your videos. From Down Under?
Great vid/bike update, only just seen this vid "don't know why" had a good laugh as well ! Keep it up, wishing you a happy new year!
Best review ever!
Great review buddy 😀😀❤️❤️ love from india 🇮🇳
Great followup video. Very valuable information
I dig that Rocci sticker on the side box
Great review.
I have seen some one on RUclips changing the compass out for a volt meter.
Ive seen that, I just don't want to bother messing with it. Now I don't even look at it and just forget that its there. Maybe I'll come up with something to put over it.
@@UncleVoodoo could just cover it with a Uncle Voodoo sticker;)
Great review. Genius Indiana Jones bit
Holy shit, your movie references are out of control. Everybody knows that.
Also, the 2001 reference…made me feel like I was cleaning carbs for the first time
thank you sir , tonnes of love from india .
Really enjoyed this review & laugh out loud! Thanks American cousin!
Nice nods to some classic films. Fun!
Subscribed. Top tier review.
Tnx for being so honest🙏🏾
