Sorry for my audio sometimes cutting off or being quiet at times! I did not record this on my usual software, and my audio settings were a bit off! Also, thank you JC for joining this video, and check out his channel link in the description and here as well. www.youtube.com/@booktubeadvocate
They took all the soul out of season 2. No character remembers what happens the episodes before. Abandoned plots already. Love the dragons! Hate that the rest was so dull.
Compared to GAME OF THRONES.. what is up with the plot the characters i mean look at cersei lannister, margery martel, look at danerys and the build up to her being KHALEESI, arya stark even the lady of the eerie does well... why arent these Characters more ruthless.. Daemon is the most dangerous man in westeros with the greater ADVANTAGE in this CIVIL WAR.. think of maegor the cruel.. think of tywin lannister think of robert wanting to kill danerys as a little girl... i mean Daemon is a king without a crown.. jace is a prince who proves himself and makes his place he actually grew up with daemon.. i dont completely buy into what they selling me only because the characters and the story dont make much sense...
The only time Rhaenyra and Daemon rocked being ruthless was when they murdered Vaemond in front of all. Like Rhaenyra gestured to Daemon before, as if to say if things get hairy, u do u. They are so much more fun to watch when they actually connive together. Much like how Alicent and her side of the family looked so fun to watch with them being a united front when the situation asked for it.
8 episodes is too short, especially if they insist on inserting filler. Every scene, every word of dialogue would have to be done with precision and no waste to get it done. I felt there were too many wasted screen minutes in season 2, things that didn't advance the story, they were just there. The mud wrestling? Really? It felt to me like it was there to meet some diversity quota and it fell flat for me. Most of Rhaenyra's scenes reminded me of season 8 Cersei, just standing around and looking. All we needed was a couple of scenes showing her frustration. Same with Daemon. Too many vision scenes. They were good, but they could have condensed them into a few scenes. Having Alicent and Rhaenyra meet not once, but twice stretched my ability to believe it, and it was BORING, we already knew how the two of them felt. We didn't need to see Alicent going camping. It would have been enough to have the scene where she tells the guard she is going out with just him and then have the council comment that nobody has seen her. I also dislike the Mysaria scenes. Her performance is flat, not sure if it's the actress or the writers. I don't have a problem with her kiss with R, but it seemed shoehorned in and didn't really mean anything to the story. It might have been ok in a 10 or 12 episode season, but with just 8, it should have been cut to show us more important things. As far as I remember, Rhaeyna takes the little ones to Pentos and that's important later on. They also could have saved screen time wasted on the dragon seed barbecue. They could have just done a few scenes showing them facing the dragon one by one and getting roasted. The scene we got didn't really make sense to me, it seemed to be there for spectacle but didn't make sense. None of those roasted people got a chance to face the dragon, they were collateral damage for the first guy. I subscribed to HBO only to watch this season and now that I am done, I see that most of what is on that service is crap. HOTD is their flagship. They should be pouring the money into it so it's the best it can be, even if it means taking away from mediocre or bad shows. My initial excitement for Dunk and Egg is waning after this season. There were positives, mostly Aegon, Helaena, Jayce, Baela, Adam, Allyn, Simon Strong, the cinematography, music and dragons, but overall I was disappointed.
Please give us 10 or 12 episodes (to make up S2 only having 8) and put a minimum $300M budget for HOT D Season 3. *BOOK* *SPOILERS* *AHEAD* 2.12 Battle of the Gullet 2.13 Battle of the Honeywine 2.14 The Red Fork and the Fishfeed 2.15 Fall of King’s Landing *(S3* *finale?)* 2.16 The Red Kraken 2.17 Butcher’s Ball 2.18 First Tumbleton 2.19 Fall of Dragonstone 2.20 Battle Above the Gods Eye 2.21 Storming of the Dragonpit 2.22 Second Tumbleton 2.23 Rhaenyra’s Death 2.24 Moon of the Three Kings 2.25 Battle of the Kingsroad 2.26 Aegon II’s Death Gullet and Lakeshore (aka Fishfeed) are going to be expensive battles. They’re the two bloodiest battles for land and sea. Throw in Daeron’s moment in Honeywine. How the hell are they going to show all that in one season? I think Season 3 will end with the Fall of King’s Landing which should’ve been the finale for Season 2. This keeps Criston Cole alive until the final season (darnnit). By ending S3 with FoKL, it ends with Otto getting beheaded which should have most people cheering. Season 4 is not going show the Hour of the Wolf. I predict the final series episode is Rhaenyra’s death. Then like a montage of Aegon II getting poisoned and the aftermath like seeing Aegon the Younger getting coronated. Daemon and Aemond die by 4x5 or 4x6 before the Storming of the Dragonpit. Condal said the focus for Season 3 is WAR. It better be. They will show these three battles. Gullet, the Blacks win. Honeywine, the Greens win. Lakeshore, the Blacks win. We get to see Starks and Lannisters going at it. Then it ends with FoKL. Aegon heads to Dragonstone to set up what he’ll do to his older half-sis in S4. They will likely reshoot the scene of Rhaenyra sitting on the throne that they already used for Daemon’s weirwood vision. All this hype about Daeron the Daring. 🤣 Daemon would punk that little kid if they went at it. Caraxes would destroy Daeron’s blue she-dragon. Like sit down, son. The Greens are basically the Sandlot playing against the Majors. It’s punching that Dallas Stars fan with the ugly mullet. “Hey, little boy. Little boy.” The Storming of the Dragonpit is the sad scene to me. Not Rhaenyra’s death. Daemon killing Aemond with Dark Sister (Visenya’s old sword) is the coolest scene but not the saddest scene. The dragon massacre is what weakens the Targs for the next 150+ years which made it easier for Robert to kill Rhaegar and overthrow the Targs. Who knows though? The HBO showrunners might drastically change a lot of stuff including not killing off Rhaenyra? We can’t expect what’s written in the book to happen in the show. They already excluded Mushroom, Nettles, Saera Snow, and Morning.
I'm worried about Dunk and egg as well. I want it to separate itself from GOT not connect to it. It's a Targaryen story not a white walker story lol. Fair enough if we go to Winterfell or the wall in a future season, but season 1 will be in the crownlands.
Thanks for letting me collaborate with you Grease! Always a great time speaking ASOIAF with you! Also sorry for my coughing… I thought I muted my mic on that 🥲
Bruh Aemond and Daemon fight waaaayyy after the Battle of the gullet and the fall of Kingslanding. We’re gonna be waiting till season 4 for that at the latest, but I am holding up hope that we could see it in the season finale of season 3
I thought the season was amazing. It really showed me who the real villian of this story is. I can't wait for season 3 and 4 to watch the story unfold. 🖤
personally even though this is not as good as S1 it is still incredible television that only a few seasons of GOT can compare too, people are so overly harsh on this season although it definitely had some writing problems the people calling it filler dont understand tv
@@IdocarebutIdont filler is when the writers add in irrelevant plotlines or scenes to increase the length of a show, which plotline or even which scene was filler
@@lexilannister Rhaenyra and Alicent trying to make piece, twice? Rhaenyra in general not wanting to go to war, even though blood was already shed? Daemon having visions for like 4-5 episodes? What about the female (trans youtuber) pirate and her drawn out mud fight scene?
@@IdocarebutIdont rhaneyra and alicents attempts at piece were 100% important for the plot one signified the end of rhaenyras reluctance to go to war (which makes sense for her character but was definitely drawn out over too many episodes) and the other was literally Alicent suing for peace. and all of daemons visions were building up to his final vision and by extension him bending the knee to rhaneyra
@@lexilannister "rhaneyra and alicents attempts at piece were 100% important for the plot".. No bro, they weren't, because it's not even in the books. That's the whole point. The writers just wanted to white wash both characters, because 'women good and reasonable, unlike men' and drag out the moment where both families actually go to war, even though it doesn't make any sense for them to still look for peaceful solutions. In the books, Rhaenyra and Alicent were the driving forces, that actually wanted to go to war, as soon as the blood of their family members has been shed. But in the show, by the end of season 1, we had both families going to war and we ended season 2 in the exact same spot, with both families still going to war.
1:05:00 it will be good because this time George is working with the scripts of the show . Seems like he really hated how they ruines HoTD in season 2 because during production of season 2 of HoTD was when he made that comment about tv writers thinking they could do better than the original material.
What does his comment about being disappointed with the story have to do with him being involved with the script of season 3? Do u have a link to the confirmation??

Rhaenyra mourned her son's death for like a single day and didn't even want to retaliate in the end lmao
