Alysea Zaragoza no i dont think that you are right. Im a Germany hairdresser Manager and Master. And i can Tell you , there are some People outside, especially which had coloured the hair many times in Black , which are Not able to get the hair lighter in one lightening program. But i think its our Job to Tell THIS to the costumer BEFORE i Start my work! Then you can choose for you if that is worth the Money or Not. But i think also it is possible for her in one lightening Prozess to get the hair lighter 😁 just my opinion because i have a lot of experience. And the patchiness is Not okay! Its Not okay for a high Ende Salon to let her going out patchy ! 🙌🏻

I will say as a master Stylist. Black hair color is just super hard to remove and can be unpredictable professional or box. I personally would have probably started with a color remover first and try to remove as much of the artificial pigment as possible before bleaching and see where I was at with that. I’m always 100% honest with all my clients about possible outcomes and what may or may not happen. I will say with the patchiness you should have at least been informed and even if it wasn’t possible to fix that day should have been brought back to at least try to get you as even as possible. I could go on and on about color correction lol

If it makes you feel any better... Black is definitely your colour Megan it makes you look exotic af especially because of your beautiful pale skin and blue eyes. It's also my favorite I've been dying my hair jetblack for years and whenever I change it up I always end up dying it back in a month, sometimes less I just miss it. I get that you want to change things up I'm like that too, but last summer again I got a lil tired of my black hair I wanted it lighter. So I bleached it myself and it got patchy of course, but I managed to fix it somehow by dying it with two different hair dyes (I'm not even a hairdresser, lowkey that salon you went to needs to fire some people and hire me instead lol) I got a nice light brown hair colour and I was happy with it HOWEVER I got MAD pressed whenever I saw girls with jet black hair and so I dyed it back again in two weeks. I was more mad about damaging my hair for nothing, but I guess once you go black you really can't go back trust me girl you would miss it

Its international policy to not offer a refund right away because people take advantage of it as fuck. Protocol is to to give a reservice free of charge with either the same or a different stylist until the client is happy. If after 3 re-services the client still isn't satisfied you can give a refund.
You cant offer people money back right away we dont sell products, we provide services. You dont call your electrician and ask for a refund cause he did something wrong, you tell him to fix it. Have some respect for our profession, it's just as valid as anyone elses.

You look amazing like always! Don't worry about breaking down at the salon it happens to the best of us. I'm sorry, the owner should have at least offered to do the color you want in a few months once your hair has time to heal. You never should have been allowed to leave are the salon with patchy hair that is just not the kind of establishment you should do business with especially if they don't take responsibility for the mistakes of their employees. Find a smaller salon where you can go and feel at home and the stylists will care more about you and about your hair representing their work.

I'm a stylist and you definitely shouldn't of left the salon patchy. It is difficult to strip a 3n goldwell permanent color off your hair, and it will take time but it's possible. The color you chose was very achievable. You should of gotten at least a half of a refund or something. If the guy couldn't achieve your goal then he should of had someone who could. Sorry that happened but you should've gotten some kind of refund. That's bs.

Hey girl! Hairdresser here. This was totally a color correction from the start and idk if they explained it to you that sometimes it’s not going to be exactly what we want the first time, it’s a process, especially depending how many times you applied the Black on your hair, on your roots and/or ends. Also, I know you wanted a chestnut brown and when you’re removing black , you don’t know what’s lying underneath in most cases ,therefore I don’t promise what the end result may be and they should have let you know that although you wanted a chestnut brown, that it might turn out really yellow/orange and you might want to do something else, such as the red he applied because even if he applied a chestnut brown toner on, it might’ve still looked really orange because it looked realllyy orange and applying more of a copper/red tone might’ve looked nicer. Again though, he should’ve let you know. The reason I think the patchiness occurred because this has happened to me , is maybe your hair was really porous in those areas and possibly he should’ve formulated differently . When the patchiness happened to me, I let my client know what was up and had her come in the next day to just do a bleach wash and we ended up doing a copper red, but she’s coming back in a month to do her next bleach session, but again her hair was in good condition. All in all though because you were upset and it was patchy, he should’ve refunded you or at least offer to give you a discount in the near future and make a plan with you on re lightening and in the meanwhile give you suggestions on prepping your hair to keep it healthy. I hope this doesn’t make you feel like you never want to go to a hair dresser again because there are so many other talented and honest hair dressers out there. I think they could’ve handled the situation differently especially because you were so upset and still didn’t proceed in giving you a refund and truly being apologetic. But anyways, good luck girl and I hope this helped!!

Exactly, as a fellow licensed professional, they should have completely taken full blame for their mistakes and offered her money back. The reason I say in this case they should have offered her money back is because they took her back exactly where she started. So what did she actually pay for?
The stylist could have been inexperienced, or even an apprentice and not told her. He should have never taken her darker again after they had already lightened her. Who does that? Wtf? That was the biggest mistake here. You're not giving the client what they want at all. Her hair was more than likely in good enough condition (it also looks it) that a second or even third low volume bleach would have been totally fine. But the stylist was probably inexperienced and wouldnt've been able to make this call. The reservice should have been him lightening the hair a second time (this time more evenly) and toned her to a more neutral warm rather than the red she didnt want.
But you know, maybe she also didnt communicate her wants properly. She seems extremely shy. Maybe she couldn't explain exactly how she wanted the red. Either way, going dark again is NEVER an option..and a professional would know this. That's an amateur move. That's what people do at home in their bathrooms when they do a bleach fail. I'm shook he did this tbh. So in this exact situation you should get your money back cause he didnt do shit to your hair except damage it. put them on fucking BLAST honey and give them a bad review if they dont.

    @amanduhhhh42 5 лет назад +13

yikes, that’s frustrating to me even as a viewer lol. you 100% asked for an achievable color based on what you had before, but regardless, it was patchy! even if they couldn’t get you to your desired color, the end result should have been even throughout. and their idea of fixing it shouldn’t have been to just bring you back to a darker color, they should have lightened the dark parts that they left (with bleach, because they barely used bleach on your hair when they lightened it the first time), and evened out the color.
i don’t work in hair, but i did go to beauty school and LOVE coloring more than any other hair service. it frustrates me to see stylists just not caring or trying to give the client what they want. if they thought they wouldn’t be able to get you to where you wanted to be, they should have told you that right off the bat. i could get my own hair to the color you wanted without help or patchiness lol someone working as a professional should def be able to do it.
i’m sorry that happened to you! i hope you get your hair to where you want it soon ❤️

Straight out, I've taken a hundred or more clients with black box dye hair to blonde, chestnut, hot pink, grey etc etc. Your desired colour should have been a walk in the park for a competent colourist. Please don't just settle for the black. Wait a month or two and start the process again. Don't let that experience deter you.

    • @Angela-rc3ix
      @Angela-rc3ix 5 лет назад +7

Yes. The problem with using all over bleach to lighten hair is the ends turn out one color (usually a dark red) the mid shaft another (orange/big bird yellow) and the roots another ( bright blonde/white) now you have 3 colors you are trying to cover and make seamlessly match each other which can be almost impossible. Also if you’ve over bleached, when you go to tone your hair is super porous and grabs the pigment and can become way to dark. That’s why I suggest not using anything darker than a 7 to tone.

My hair has red in it and the hair dresser put red on it not what I wanted left depressed with red hair. My sister had a similar experience a few years ago. Her hair was jet black like yours and she wanted red. She went to an unfamiliar salon as the one we went to was closed and the hair stylist doing her hair said the colour was achievable in one session just through stripping the black and applying the colour on top. Her hair was three different colours, it was honestly a nightmare and the salon was being difficult about reimbursing her but she was persistent and got at least half of the money back. It’s definitely discouraging when you want a specific colour and you walk out of the salon with something totally different especially when you spend hours and so much money. My advice would be to just wait it out and let your virgin hair grow in some more so the colour is achievable eventually and don’t forget to apply treatments and as very little heat so it’s in good condition! I’ve been an icey, white blonde colour for almost three years and it took multiple sessions to finally achieve my desired colour with as very little brass as possible. Patience is key girl :) keep up with the weekly vlogs, much love for Canada xoxo

Girl you can find these LED light strips on bestbuys website or maybe even amazon they come in different lengths but basically they have tape underneath and you can put it on your wall at the top near the ceiling, plug it in and boom u got a bunch of different color choice settings and brightness settings and they’re super bright and the colors change the look and feel of your entire room!! They’re somewhat expensive though so mine is about 15 feet and I believe it was around $25-$30 but they’re so worth it and they can def light up your entire room with a small amount. You can even cut the strip of the lights to adjust it to your room size.

I feel ya girl. Something similar happened to me years ago. I didn't want to pay and told them so. But they demanded I pay and I did out of fear. They didn't even offer to fix it. I was fortunate that my hair didn't fall off. I never went back there and should have done a Yelp review looking back. I took it as a lesson not to get carried away with hair experimentation. I've learned too to be very choosy with hair stylists. Also, if you want your hair to be lighter so bad you could look into wearing a wig. It would be hella fun to see you try on different wigs at a wig shop. Don't cry, at the end of the day you're still gorgeous hunty🙂😘. Sending you love from San Diego.

Girl you should demand they do a strand test (they cut a small peice of hair from the back and put it into the foil with lightener to test elasticity and porosity, see if your hair can take it) I think you should get highlights and slowly get more and more. Highlights can take some time so make sure you have a few hours free, you could also get a partial use pinterest and see what you like! Also get some oleplex off of amazon and ask them to use that. I’m in beauty school and I know so many brunettes that get highlights and slowly get more and more and end up blonde, they do it with balayages as well but I feel like it can be more damaging that way.

You really deserve a refund for at least the bleach process. Because when you went back to get it fixed they could have put the chestnut color you wanted over the red color. The person who did your hair did not know what they were doing. I don’t see how the owner justified not giving you a refund when you ended up with the same color you started with. Or at least offer to do what you want in a few months for free when your hair has healed a bit. Im sorry that happened to you 🙁

There’s a way to get it light and then you can dye it whatever you want. Leave your roots grow and don't dye them black, find a way to hide the difference in your hair color as it grow & try to cut it once every month. (You may need to put a wig on ) after 6 months you can bleach your hair again

I totally understand how upsetting it is...because it happened to me as well!! But from that learned that if I wanted to dye my hair lighter I had to stop dying it black. Not going to lie it took me a year almost to dye my hair. So I didn’t dye black a whole year so my hair was patchy at times and I wanted to just dye it black again but deep down I knew I wanted something new. So after a year of not dying it I finally dye it and I didn’t even need bleach just the dye which was amazing he only cut an inch of since that was still black from my previous time I had dyed it. Plus I understand how it is to just not say anything because I’m the exact same way and it sucks because they take advantag of our silence!🙁

I had covered my hair with soft black box color for years and my salon was able to lift me to a medium non patchy blonde for an ombré. I know it’s a hard process but a rich brown was possible after those 2 cleanses they did on your hair, it’s unfortunate they decided to use that full on red😐 if you want to try a brown again maybe a different salon or some detailed at home instructions from your mom could help? but anyway I am glad they fixed it for you. love the dark hair on you with your light eyes!💓

When I was in hair school I worked in a salon and the biggest part of my job was to deal with refunds/guest recovery bc mistakes happen but the salon should own up to that and refund u the whole thing. All they did was charge u to damage ur hair but still have it look the same. I see other comments suggesting all over high lights and I agree and over time adding more until ur able to just lighten everything at once. A cheapass chain hair salon would be able to do that it's sooo ridiculous that they couldn't. My only concern would be to make sure they use olaplex or something similar

Keep that attitude with the salon 💕 you will never go there again and you deserve a refund because you weren't satisfied and they didn't offer to fix it. You aren't asking for special treatment.. it's normal to ask for a refund. I know you're prob annoyed at the topic by now but I think you can go there in person and bring Francesco or a friend if you're uncomfortable. Sometimes calling them out with another person there with you helps them see that they're going to be held accountable. The phone is just a way for them to hide or ignore the problem, it's easy for them. Lysm! You deserve respect and a refund!

I know I've cried after getting a botched job at a salon even though I consider myself pretty confident. You do still look great and I hope u find a salon that can help u achieve what u want 💖

I’m a hairdresser, I think the red was pretty but it was patchy. They didn’t also put the bleach on your roots which they should have so it was all one even color then put the color on top. But because you were so red already, a neutral brown should have been put over that instead of a red because it still would have been that warm chestnut color.. that’s what I think should have been done differently!

I feel you girl! My last hair dresser dyed my hair red out of convenience when I actually wanted a light brown, very annoying and emotionally draining spending sooo much money for something you didn’t even want. I just took it as a learning experience and now I will not let a hair dresser tell me something cannot be done if I know so myself that it can! Your hair does look very soft and you’re stunning as always Megan 💖 love uuu all the way from Edmonton Alberta!

girl same thing happened to me!!! I went to a high end salon and paid $200 to end up with a patchy disaster that wasn't what i wanted!! they ignored all my calls and emails and i felt too emotionally damaged to confront them in person lol. my bf's sister recommended me a lady who miraculously fixed it & i now go to her always.
I'm sorry this happened to you girl I know it sucks so much. I hope you get the refund you deserve. you look amazing as always & i hope you feel amazing/better soon ❤️

Hi Megan! My mum had black hair for the last few years - either Superdrug hair dye or the professionals in the salon. And she has really curly, naturally dry hair. Two weeks ago she decided to go lighter. I’m sure she did have a bit of bleach on her hair but the hair came out much lighter almost like a light ginger colour. But the point I’m making is that the salon you went to f**ked you over because the colour you wanted was definitely possible to achieve.

Megan the same thing happened to me, the salon completely botched my colour and I was patchy like you. I complained after my bf took photos of me and K saw just how patchy it looked in sunlight and the salon gave me a bunch of excuses and we're very reluctant to refund me but I perservered and demanded a refund do I could get it colour corrected elsewhere. This is so close to home I feel your disappointment as I had black hair and waited to go lighter too. The second salon I went to were great and able to correct my hair and told me all the things the first salon did wrong then tried to blame me for. Get your money back girl! That money could be put to better use like investing in another cute haul lol

Girl i just found your channel and I'm in the same boat. I have had black dye in my hair after being platinum (my natural is dark blonde) for about a year and a half. I work in a high end salon and am in beauty school. All i want is to slowly go lighter but every time I do it is disappointing and i have banding/lots of tones. So i just end up going darker again. Even though i understand why from a stylist perspective, it is still super depressing!

As far as people saying “you’re lucky they even got the black out”....Lemme just say this, would you have let them do your hair if they said “well, you’ll be lucky if it doesn’t come out patchy AF🤣👌 NO YOU WOULD NOT HAVE! Anyway, you look beautiful 💕 I love your style too🌟

I totally understand you... last year I went to a salon and payed 215€. I also went from jet black (since 10 years) to a cherry red (which I wanted).. in the end I left the salon with a dark brown, coppery tone. Back home I saw the patchiness in the back and thought, wow great... went back and got a retouch 2 weeks after. BUT to this day (it was a year ago) my hair is patchy, the lenghts just don't take the color correctly which means I've got kind of a blend of cherry on the top and kinda coppery brown at the ends. It has been reaaaally hard for me to go back and kind of complain, because of social anxiety and awkwardness... and yeah, i got you =/

girrrrrl. get a refund or expose the salon, this is not customer service! i'm not a hair stylist (my best friend is), and your mom is so i'm sure you know some things. black is hard to get out, but its not impossible. it takes a few sessions to lift the color out (not just a bleach wash, i'm not sure why they didn't highlight/tone you)...but you're right the color you chose was not impossible. what you want can be done, go to a salon that can actually help and not just dye over the mistakes!!! sorry this happened to you :(

The best way to go from dark hair to blonde is to get babylights all over your head every 4-5 months. I am not a hairdresser but my family owns 3 salons and this is what I did and by doing this, I was able to maintain the shine, health, and length of my hair. Also, my hair is naturally a medium brown but it was dyed a dark black-brown for 1 year before I began the process of going blonde. It took me 1.5 years to become fully blonde after all of the sessions of babylights were done. Social media is really deceiving and makes it look much easier than that, but if you don't want to fry your hair, the reality is... It's going to take a while!! A lot of the girls on social media look like they have healthy hair but it's really short and fried from bleach and they wear $3,000+ extensions so that nobody can tell.

The salon I worked for, all the stylists have Instagrams so you can check out their work beforehand. Maybe you can scope out local stylists for similar hair transformations as what you are wanting.
Also a good stylist will prepare you for possible results and keep you informed every step of the way and make a game plan together that you agree on . And inform you that it is trial and error with removing black color so multiple processes may be needed. Do not go to that specific stylist again and all stylists are not created equal. Possibly ask for the more experienced stylist at a salon and and look up their work before booking an appointment 💜 you are so sweet and I am the same way about not saying anything and just avoiding it in the future but that’s actually a detriment to the stylist’s personal growth and to the salon.

Girl I feel you. I am a blonde..... I went to the salon to get a natural light ass brown hair. Showed a picture of it and everything. The woman without asking did my hair and another woman’s at the same time but we had to take turns in the same chair and everything she did she rushed and got hair dye on my BRAND NEW $50 sweater..... when she washed my hair she did it so fast didn’t massage it or anything, put my hair in a towel while it was DRIPPING all over me not ran out completely.... when she was blow drying it it was rough and couldn’t even brush through it...... she tried to tell me my hair was naturally dry and gross.... than my hair was JET BLACK in the mirror.... I go home confused thinking well she dyed it too dark... etc..... I was at home and I decided to take a shower because I felt so nasty and POUNDS of hair dye just poured out my head... this bitch left hair dye all in my hair........ my hair was fried .... call the company the next day told the manager what happened. She refused to fix it, refund me or anything and when I called again to talk... they wouldn’t let me talk to the manager and she would never call me back..... I even said “keep the money I just want some good shampoo and conditioner to fix the damage my hair feels” and nothing.... I was passed crying. Ever sense than, haven’t gone to a hair salon because I don’t trust anyone anymore and they made me mad as hell. But yes never leave even if it’s awkward make them fix it!. Also..... if you get your hair done do it in the daytime so you can go outside and actually look at the color before
You leave and if not they will fix it for free..... that’s there job. Hair is not cheap lol

I'm a hairstylist (love yew giirl) and the reason it turned out splotchy is most likely because you touch up your own roots over lapping onto the previous color is going to create what we call bands. (Where color overlaps so it has more pigment in your cuticle and will be harder to remove). Which is common so nothing to be ashamed about at all, even stylist can cause it! But the stylist should have known that 100% and should have let you know that! And told you the steps it would take! They also should have stripped it out with a color strip and then applied bleach on the hair, dry, very meticulously to even out all of your hair. You should have NEVER left with splotchy hair! And if they were lazy and didnt want to do all that work they should have just said I can't achieve what you want and let you go to someone who was willing to get you to your goal. Because your goal was completely realistic!!
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience, I really hope you find a stylist thatll do you right. You 1000% deserve nothing but the best! And that salon is very disrespectful and unprofessional, you should have gotten your hair fixed CORRECTLY for free or a refund. But they did neither!

Honestly I NEVER trust hairdressers! You should of tried to do it yourself, there’s a product called ‘colour b4’ u can get it in boots or any drugstore, it strips your black hair to a auburn/light colour without using bleach and you just put it on like hair dye, then after a few weeks you could put a light brown dye on it? I’ve done it before and It’s worked out good but ofc it will be different for everyone but please don’t be upset you still look gorgeous whatever colour it was!😩❤️

As a hairstylist I'd just like to apologize for how that person did your hair.
I would have suggested a CPR, which is a color pigment remover. Super helpful on black colored hair. Safely gets you lifted 2-3 levels. THEN I would have done a full highlight and lifted you as much as I could without damaging your hair. And toned it to a color you'd like.
Also, in the future this will have created a problem for the next person who is gonna have to lighten your hair.
You will have bands in your hair. So they will have to lighten you and tone accordingly to each band.
Again, terribly sorry about your experience and I hope you find the right hair god or goddess for you. I highly suggest sticking with them when you do. ❤️🌻
