Thanks for the wonderful (and entertaining) video! I just got an Astoria Gloria AL-1 dual fuel that is very similar to this Perla. The boiler is stamped 12/08. Your demo was very instructive for me as I get mine up and running!
That's brilliant. Thank you for this. I've recently bought Astoria Divina for less than 100 bucks and I was curious about Astoria Lever machines. It seems you have exactly the same boiler in your machine. I can now get lever grouphead and with some work convert Divina to be Astoria Lever Machine. Thanks for information.
Great video, very instructive. Im brand new to the world of espresso and i went out and bought my wife a used astoria gloria 1 group lever machine. We been learning to use it but for some reason the lever when pulled down has to be manually lifted all the way back up, it wont go up on its own; might you know what could be the problem with it?
Gas hook up, hilarious! Of cousr require a means of gelato with the same to make it through a natural interruptions intact. instructive vid. Tip more than a bit strong on that tamp. 2. long term brass may be a health issue good coffee to you looking at a Astoria Perla to find a way around the disposable consumer machines. DO seem to be parts but only a few access points
I have a prevot avant 2 group that I can't find a tech close by. I have a background in plumbing and it looks a lot like a boiler. My question and problem. This is our first machine, so the right side group is working perfect. The left side only steams. It has 2 steam wands that work great. and a larger wand that looks like a cup filler? it works great until it heats up and then we get a lot of steam. side note: steam will come out of the left side, just no water. I've cleaned all heads and filters. any help appreciated
Question your element has a hole.. is that hole not for the thermostat.. and the half inch ball valve you made a reducing male insert NTP thread or NSP.. I want to start a food truck here in Cape Town South Africa and would prefer gas
The hole in the element in this machine is for the overheat protection stat (if the boiler runs dry). Temp control is by means of a pressure stat, sounds strange, but in a sealed boiler, above 100C, temperature correlates with pressure, the gas burner is also regulated by boiler pressure. It was a straight thread, not tapered.
Their's usually an overheat protection, this could have tripped if the water level has been low, occasionally the power switches give trouble, or the pressure stat. Someone handy with a multimeter and familiar with electrics should be able to diagnose fairly quickly.

Yeah, I think the AL-1 is very similar indeed, hopefully you will enjoy it.

they used 3,5 mm crush copper washers on my boiler. Hard to find those. Ended up using washer and lomax only. No tape!

thanks for the video. I had the same machine, really liked it. Now i've got the Fracino retro, same parts but packed in an English body :)
Enjoy it!

@@framavia2201 ok.. so pressure sensitive. I heard Astoria machines are of the best.
Hey there. Any suggestion on what to do when boiler isn’t getting hot? It has been sitting for a little while?
