Thank you so much Barb and Doug for this video. I'm rebuilding an Astoria 2 group lever and this video has taught me more than I could find in countless hours of research on the internet.

Hi Clint - I've just found this video and wondered if you have any pointers on info on the rebuild you did - I need to do mine myself as can't afford to get it serviced - however because I'm using it 6 days a week I have to try and do it in a day.

Hi, I service quite a few machines with the CMA designed grouphead so I really appreciate the video. I rebuild them quite often, sometimes its the worn sleeve, the three piston gaskets, the o-rings around the outer sleeve and inner housing. I also take apart the lever mechanism and rebuild them because the lever wont remain safely down or there is too much play left to right on the lever. I have a built a device to compress the spring and revolve the pistonhead onto the rod, which I have wound into the thread of the cam which sits in the seat of the housing. I have experienced leaking after re-builds with new parts still sometimes which leaves me confused, and have tried to set the height of the piston by turning it so that the 4-6 small holes in the sleeve only permit water to flow outward and downward to the portafilter when the lever has been pulled. Sometimes I can see why this occurs, there are a few factors at play and it can be tricky and expensive to replace all the parts

Great but how could you not proceed to overview/ details of the spring PISTON assembly plus some discussion of gaskets needed for rebuild? I just quoted a customer in Los Angeles $800 for a double lever group rebuild that's probably not even enough for this job!

looks very good - maybe that not to big group could be fitted on machine similar by size to Ponte vecchio? ...
How does it taste? is it good like vintage Faema machines?

Any videos on how to take the bearings off? My lever won’t stay down so am thinking I need to replace them.

Amazing info in this vid. I wonder if I could get some help for my Astoria cma 1 group.
I get only 30ml water and water temp comes out of the group more than 93 degrees.
    Any ideas?
