Keep a can in the truck..2014 RAM 3500...touch ups are done in seconds...I am close to 3 years on wheels, and all the chrome. Still looks as it first did, and never peeled..The chrome had to go. Since doing this truck, I have added glossifier to the end product, it just takes that complete flat look, and adds a slight sparkle...Nice. De badged the whole truck also....very clean lines to it.
@@rishipatel285 None. I thought about it and didn't end up going with it. you can notice the fade after about a year or two. but they still look decent
Thanks for the plasti dip review and all the other quality Ram content. Good information and no drama. I have a set of salt damaged (Ontario) SLT grey 20's that I use for the winter with duratracs on them. Trying to decide between painting them tremclad satin black or plasti dip black. Side note... I noticed the size of your duratracs in this video. Interesting that you are running 275/55R20's. Is that the stock size on your truck? My door sticker on my 2016 Ram says 275/60R20 so that is the size of duratrac I purchased (I run 35's in the summer). My truck is a 2016 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman CrewCab Hemi Shortbox with 3.91's and the non auto transfer case. Curious if the 3.21 or auto 4x4 trucks have a different factory tire size?
@@TheGettyAdventures incredibly difficult to peel. Salt and rocks ate at it a bit and had to use paint stripper to get it to come off. Wheels were fine underneath. The dip did a good job protecting them
@@Motovader72 oh I did about 4 light coats followed by 2 heavier coats. Just the salt on Colorado roads ate right through the plasti dip the white turned to a black sloppy mess and that's that.
@@Motovader72 this is an interesting thing I've actually wondered about. so the duratracs have more tread on them then a stock tire. So I was curious if that why they drop down a size to 275/55R20/ Because if they gave me 60R20 maybe the tire would actually be bigger then the stock circumference. I could be totally off base here like i said I've never really looked into it just kind of pondered the idea of why and that's what I came up with lol I actually asked for a wider tire like a 295 and Canadian tire said they are only allowed to put on stock size tires. so idk lol
@@TheGettyAdventures they screwed up for sure then. Lol Specs I've found online state the Duratrac 275/55R20 is 31.9" diameter, same as all tires that size. 275/60R20 are 33" diameter.
I always wondered why guys would use plasti dip on a surface you permanently want a color change why not just spray paint it? (Sounds like spray paint is cheaper too?)
I think the idea of something not being permanent is important to a lot of people. Like even myself, I knew if I messed up the paint job I could just peal it off and start over. with spray pain you got one shot and if you mess it up or don't like it you're kind of screwed

I used the clear Plastidip Glossifyer with UV protection over the black and 4 years in they are still shiny new looking.
Honestly kind of surprised how well this stuff has held up
How many cans of glossifyer did you have to use for 4 wheels?
I used one can which let me put two coats on all four wheels. You can do more depending on how glossy you want them.

Super informative, thanks mate.
The reason it looks dull is that you didn’t use the glossifier or metallic finish and just used black
What size tire do you have? This is the look I’m wanting to go with.
When it fades clean them and add another coat

What song is that music from at the beginning of the video?
How easy was it to remove it?
I did a set of bmw wheels a few years back. Thought it would peel off easily when I wanted to go back to silver. I thought wrong...
Really? was it just difficult to peal or did it ruin your rims underneath ?
@@TheGettyAdventures incredibly difficult to peel. Salt and rocks ate at it a bit and had to use paint stripper to get it to come off. Wheels were fine underneath. The dip did a good job protecting them
@@tubbs200803 Interesting well that's too bad. but I guess silver lining is the rims were still good.
You didn't put in on thick enough if it was hard to peel off.

The ones you've seen that look like crap aren't Dipped, those are FLAT BLACK paint. LMAO
lmaoo there are some terrible paint jobs out there on some rims
Whats your tire size? Thinking about getting a set of duratracs for my ram
275/55 R20. Stock tire size for these trucks. I really like them!
@@TheGettyAdventures stock tire size is actually 275/60R20. Your tires are an inch shorter than stock.

Because spray paint gets hard and flakes and chips off and looks like crap over time.
Because paint doesn’t stick to chrome
Was there anything special you had to do to get it to stick to the chrome?
Nope just a really good clean!
God you're handsome
Thanks Boss
😂 😂 Jp bro. I'm just messing
