I saw her as the Färberin in San Francisco in this same month, November 1987, and she was astounding: endless streams of huge sound, with dead-on attack reminiscent of Nilsson, as well as no hint of a wobble. I had seen Nilsson in the role seven years earlier, and Jones blew her out of the water. She was a phenonenon.
Gwyneth Jones was a force of nature in any of her performances....
Amazing acting
Grande
Gwynneth jones incredibile!
Brava!
Grandma Gwyneth in one of her roles that could make the chandeliers swing.
That's Dame Gwyneth no doubt... A great artist.
Unsurpassed! I've heard Columbia recorded her as Turandot, not quite sure that's true. If not, what a pity!
Oh my goodness.Do you have the whole performance?I love Jones.
Me too. I desperately need this performance.
I saw Dame Gwyneth as Turandot at the Met in 1995. I don't think it was her best role but, My God, she obliterated the entire orchestra and chorus in that scene! My wife and I went backstage to meet her afterward, and she was a petite and soft-spoken woman. Absolutely lovely. My wife said, that can't be the same person who just blew the roof off!
Jones was a great Turandot, but she's 59 years old in 1995.Jones sing this role so magnificent in 1980s.
Wow she acts it as a flesh and blood human
Where can I purchase the whole video ?
Turandot was a young princess.
You sing like Dame Gwyneth then you can criticize
@@crazyorganist1609 The makeup isn't kind to her...
She is far superior than much younger singers we find these days.
This Calaf is awful.
He’s effective.
