The song is really emotional to him, and I heard that after Corey was done recording the vocals to the song he started having a mental breakdown and somebody went over to comfort him. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not 100% sure if I'm right or not.

yeah, I don´t get why people bitch about his voice these days anyway, I guess they don´t remember the horrible period of 2004-2005, recordings of that era are barely listenable for me. since 2008 his screams and growling in slipknot is great again, although not on the same level as during iowa (2001-2002) but it sounds cool and just lately (summer, autum 2016) he pulled off some incredbile screams which could be from the iowa era. beyond happy about that.
Bahomar Yeah. The performance they did at Knebworth in 2011 was great too. I mean, 9 times out of 10, you're screams are going to sound more ferocious if you're using no technique and yell at the top of your lungs. Which I'm pretty sure is what he was doing back in the day.

When you're an alcoholic, your voice is raw from the alcohol. That's why Corey's voice was so grating and raw during IOWA. When he sobered up, his voice changed to how it should be, which is what we have had since Vol. 3. The fact that he can't do that voice anymore is a GOOD thing. That shit almost killed him.
