Alot of the darkness on the Iowa album comes from heavy drug and alcohol use from most (if not all) members of the band. Jim was bad on coke, corey on booze, paul was doing pretty much anything infront of him. There was also alot of anger for the music/entertainment industry in this song. They felt like everyone who said they would never make it was now telling them how to write music after Self titled's success.
