- Sony, the major technology brand- yes the same ones bringing you the PS5! Have actually launched their own electric vehicle, and it's targeted directly to compete against Elon Musk's Tesla!

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show started to look a bit more like the Geneva Auto Show than it did an electronics show with companies like Lamborghini, Honda, and Hyundai revealing technology riddled concept cars that promise a future of flying taxis, supercars that can order toilet paper on the go, and self driving cars. Among those established car manufacturers and starry eyed start ups was a surprise entry, Sony with their Vision S sedan. As one would expect from a technology company like Sony, the Vision S is riddled with screens and interfaces that would allow drivers and passengers alike to access Sony Entertainment properties. But rather than show up with a flashy box that looks very much like a car that can really only at best be rolled on the showroom floor to show off their fancy technology, Sony showed up with a for real running driving electric car. Despite all that, Sony still is saying that they’re not getting in the car building car business any time soon. If that’s true, then why did Sony announce that the Vision S has showed up in Tokyo for testing, and what are they testing exactly? Well, it turns out that Sony has already sunk $5.3 billion into self driving sensor technology and the product of that investment is in part the Vision S. With the Vision S, Sony is hoping to be the bridge that turns self driving cars from science fiction into science reality and raking in the profits as the industry leader in self driving car technology. Let’s take a look at how that all shaped up.

It’s a nice car, but the charging cable doesn’t fit into any existing charger. They’ll sell you an adapter for an exorbitant price, however.
They'll probably make you buy your own supercharger that you have to carry along if you want to use their supercharging facilities. Then on-site you can mount it down and charge your car. Oh and of course it will only charge wirelessly.

Sony has always made very good products such as cameras, speakers, TVs, smartphones, drones, and if all Sony technology was combined all into one car it would be very good, but definitely a very expensive price

Eh I'd say Porsche is right there with Tesla the only thing Tesla has over the Porsche is the charging network and the range but that will be even pretty quick or Porsche will overtake Tesla quick with those parameters. Porsche has a superior 800 volt system, better battery cooling, better battery performance, faster charging once the higher volt chargers are out which they install at the delarships and eventually everywhere else, way way better build quality (no panel gaps, no water leaks into the battery or under the rear seats, and other quality issues), Porsche has a better dealer network and repair service when needed, a 2 speed transmission so it's faster top speed and acceleration off the line, and lastly my favorite you don't need to wait for the battery to cool off or warm up for drag races which is something people boast about with Teslas but they can only do it a few times where with the Porsche a car reviewer on RUclips did it 100 times in a row to prove the car can do it. Teslas big because of Elon more than the cars and that they were the first to do it mainstream. Teslas are really cool but I'd sacrafice a 50 mile reange and the Tesla charging network for a superior car from Porsche.
Evan Sargent people are interested in porsche the same way people where interested in blackberries in 2007.. all eyes where turned onto apple iphone. The same with tesla models today.. model 3 and y have 50x more content on youtube and around 5-7 times more viewers.. it has the giant interest. Same with Sony Walkman once upon the time.

Samsung have publicly announced that they'll never be making actual working cars or a prototype for that matter since once you start making an actual car prototype it means that you have the technology and the means to compete with other car manufacturers. In that case who would buy sensor packages or anything from sony if they consider them a potential threat. Samsung's subsidiary harman is partnering with german car manufacturers to secure their systems for future self driving cars. Not to mention that samsung manufactures all the parts (oled display, cpu, npu, 5g modem, nand flash memory, lithium batteries, etc) in house. Sony was late to the game and they probably wanted a big publicity stunt which seems to have worked but are the other car execs going to like that? No.

Apple doesnt make its own mobile chips but they have the best in class chips. It is possible , its just hasnt been done before

Tesla does now, but VW already has released the first electric model that is cheap enough for most to buy, they also already have enough factories in place to mass produce. They will be cheaper, have German quality builds, better warranty. Tesla is currently being exposed for poor quality, and customer service now that they are a few years old. I'm not sure Tesla can keep up when VW and Toyota start to mass produce.

I just want a car that handles like a sport car in sport mode, is as comfy as a bed in normal mode, and has BUTTONS and screens ONLY FOR RPM AND SPEED. Anything more than that is just wasting money, and oh boy if something brakes

Why does this look good? Compared to MOST other EV's, the only ones that look even decent or the Model S, Roadster and Taycan (and I guess variants of these), and the Vision S. The Vision S isn't even a real car.
Really only 3 EV's that look presentable. Compare this to the Lucid Air. Just make the EV's look normal like this.
