This looks incredible but knowing Sony, it will be VERY expensive
Same company that a few hours ago released information on a new 98 inch 8k TV costing $70k usd. This car will probably be a million dollars.
70k for a TV?😂 Wtf haha
I think if they can price this around Lucid or Model S, it will be a worthy competitor in the upscale premium EVs.
@@tz7710 it’s got TVs all over the outside. It won’t be cheap.
With all that technology, no sh!
@@tz77108K TV! For the super rich.
Definitely prefer Honda Sony. Two great Japanese brands coming together; nice.
"IFEELYA" Bro
Afeela good feeling about this...
It's the next Walkman/PlayStation, people are sleeping on Sony
@@tz7710then it got stolen by Apple and turns it into an iCar …hint ipod
I will be buying one.
This is a timeless design. I prefere a knob selector over a touch screen but having both is better. Please, No GM collab.......😊
Agree. Keep it Sony-Honda.
@@tz7710Sony and GM are on different branches of the Honda tree. Honda has relations with both, but both don’t have relations with each other.
& very stupid name too
absolutely....please keep GM the hell away from this car.....
Wow! Different angles of this car really brings it to life. The smoothness is unmatchable to anything out there currently. Best first car for a startup company.
I agree. I was not sold on the design when I first saw photos of it. But seeing it turning in three dimensions like that the design really pops. It's actually really growing on me. At first I thought it was too bland. But it's actually just under stated and elegant
@@Sabundy Absolutely. Same here. I now understand the design and I absolutely love it.
@@mrgurulittle7000 The more I see, read about, and hear about this car the more I am beginning to think that what Sony is doing here just might be genius. They are onto something.....including the design. Because I think we have gotten so used to this modern trend of really over designing cars.....that at first it appears bland. But really its just going against the grain of everything else. And that is what strikes me more and more about this car. That they are not following anyone here. They are doing their own thing, and that is usually the sign of a disruptor in a product space.
@@Sabundyagree. This design is a breath of fresh air.
Xperia smartphones- Experience
Bravia TVs- Bravo
Afeela EVs- Feel
I'm not a fan of rolling info-tainment systems, but this Afeela thing will be preeminently paramount in that regard, especially since Sony is involved. I would also be VERY concerned with its disposable short-life aspect, since it'll be a people moving computer.
Computers have never been known to have a high quality of heirloomness and a high investment value (I'm gonna guess that this thing will be very expensive, so the next thought is to what extent is it worth money and desire?).
Looks cool imo. Thanks for the show coverage duo.
Awesome stuff from the both of you Kirk. Jealous, this must be a blast. Was in Tokyo this past May, such a beautiful and delightful country/culture to dabble into. Cheers from South FL.
Imagine the repair costs if any damage is done to the front end.
It’s covered, when you buy the car for 5 replacements.
This… is gorgeous 👌🏾 I really hope this comes to market!!
I think the design really grows on a person. It's understated and elegant. And the interior is just insane.
finally a respectable review of this masterpiece
Absolutely. Great to see someone really go over the car and talk about various aspects of it. And I think masterpiece is the exact right word for it.
I actually really like the smooth design! Some of the crazy sharp edge designs are a bit much for me.
Afeela, sounds good. Beautiful pure smooth lines. I love this car. It looks ready for production.
It looks absolutely fantastic. And as you say....ready for production. I have to assume they are getting close to the final stages of development
There are slight hints of Accord in a couple of areas with the exterior.
It's also prettier and sleeker than the Sony Vision S concept that came out in 2020.
Omg this is GENUINELY COOL!
Looks like Saab, Porsche and Citroën combined. Very smooth lines, slippery. With all those sensors, screens, features, displays, definitely not cheap.
Exactly, the front reminds me of the Saab 900, the rear of the Porsche 911 and some details of the Citroën C6 ! Beautiful car !
This is going to take a lot of Tesla's marketshare if it gets released in the U.S.
That's a very distinct possibility. I think you may be right. Because this is actually fairly different from Tesla. Coming at an EV from a different angle. Not just design wise (exterior and interior) but also in terms of an infotainment system and operating system.
I will always prefer simple and timeless designs than overstyled edgy designs that will look outdated in just a couple of years.
It's already dated. Baidu newly released car has already all features the afeela is going to have, but in more simplistic way.
@@mingouczjcz3800 too bad chynese cars are factually junk
@@mingouczjcz3800It’s not outdated then.😆
@@mingouczjcz3800it's going to have 44 Sony image sensors (the best image sensors in the world)? How did they get them? It's going to have all of Sony's entertainment (PlayStation, anime, movies, music, TV)? How did they get it all? And it's going to have Honda's build quality (how did they achieve that)? And it has a native operating system? They also have a partnership with Qualcomm and Epic Games? I didn't see any such announcement......
I feel like this would slot above even Acura (despite being a Honda Sony colab)
Yes agree. This is Lucid, Model S, Porsche Taycan territory.
Never underestimate Sony. First the Walkman, PlayStation and now entering auto...
Yes !!! Honda Working with Sony sounds amazing !!! Using the Outer screens on the back bumpers to have safety captions would be cool .
It's a Japanese dream team imho
The best of the best partnered up for a crazy product.
Kirk and David, I can't remember the last time I saw a SMOOTHER car.
Haha I said smooth like 20* in this video
@@KirkKreifels When you're right you're right.
Nice
Should have gone with HONNY
Hello thank you this is very very awesome so beautiful so amazing.i love Sony.
Imagine the reaction in the States if cars start having a rolling media bar on the exterior of cars that allows you to send other drivers messages. Imagine someone texting “You slow” as they pass a slower driver whose hogging the passing lane. The increase in the number of reportable road rage incidents would be epic 🚀
It looks absolutely amazing. I have to say that close up and the more you see the car......the better looking the design is. Especially the back in my opinion. At first I thought it was too plain looking.....but I can now see what they are going for. A classic more neutral design that doesn't scream a particular era. Which makes sense given that I've read that they want these cars to be used for a long time with years of updated features via software. This you would want as timeless a design as possible.
And I think Kirk is 100% right. SONY has basically made the Apple car before Apple. This car is pretty much what most people thought an Apple car would be like. And SONY has absolutely beat Apple to it.
Thanks for the great job you guys did covering the Afeela prototype. You guys have done an excellent job covering the Tokyo mobility show for all of us. And im sure Kirk must have been geeking out all the time 😁
I can't lie. That is a great looking car IMO.
Me: "Someone barely hit my bumper"
Bodyshop: "Total it."
Having screens all in your face will be the future, just wait for having it in the windshield, that's coming for sure
whoa whoa interested !!!! future Sony car killing it
Wow, from the initial Sony Vision S to a smoothly looking and very techie AfeelA. I still go for the jagged edge Toyota Crown Sedan. Kirk, you still like the Crown Sedan after hands on Afeela?
Looks like a lucid to me
I’m holding out for a collaboration between the Panzer tank & a Grundig vacuum tube radio : old school 🤔
Even though it's not a production model in the infotainment system it showed the total range and it showed the charge rate on the front so you could figure it out. 100x333/82 = 406.097kms roughly or 252.33 miles for 100% charged range which puts it a little behind a 2023 tesla y model.
How long before it serves you unskipable ads while you drive?
AFEELA 👑 👑 👑 👑 👑 👑
Hello from Ireland! Who remembers the Sony super truck?😅
I’m so happy to hear they aren’t working with gm
lol that LCD screen at the back is going to cause some serious road rage. I wish the price won't be extremely crazy.
It look similar with Nissan ARC-X Concept 1987. I hope it goes into production and tandem with the Prelude.
The interior was quite nice but I like Honda E much more.
It’s scary if a screen, or even a light bar gets a crack or broken. Probably have to replace the whole. Almost impossible to fix it.
One thing that was not covered was the safety concerns. How well is it built to protect its passengers.
Nothing says Japan like a Sony/Honda car blasting YOASOBI - アイドル (idol)
Brooo, so true😂
Afeela draft blowing through my checking account as it empties out paying for this thing. I'm not crazy about that steering wheel; for those of us who enjoy some occasional flashy wristwear, you can't "casually" rest your hand on top of the steering wheel because there's no place to do that. 😲
There was a recent article/Interview with the Japanese head of Sony Honda mobility and he said certain details will change. The steering wheel most likely being one of them.
This felt like the future somehow.
I totally agree. It feels like a real display of technology and design.
Looks nice, but I can't see how they're going to be competitive in terms of pricing and engineering.
All those sensors are going to add to the cost, compared to the Tesla approach of minimising components and relying on a few cameras.
I can't foresee Honda/ Sony having the money and resources to compete with Tesla, BYD and Toyota's production techniques, gigacasting, etc and Toyota's drive by wire system for the yoke.
I definitely think I rather see car companies work with tech companies like this Honda Sony car. I rather not see two car companies work together, I think the competition is good but to see Apple & Google collaborations with other car manufacturers would be incredible. I think I want that even more than if there was strictly a Apple car or Google car. A car manufacturer to bring the expertise they have when it comes to making a car while the tech company can bring the expertise that it has when developing software. Those two together would be a crazy combination.
This is such a cool combination. I love Honda especially their sports cars. And I love Sony too. I hope with all the constructive feedback that they be able to refine the car even more. Question is what would the price be. And who is their target audience for the amount of tech in this car I could probably see this going for at least $40k or more
It's definitely looking cooler and cooler.
amazing car and design, but i've 1 concern, why installing tab on back seats? in case of accident this is the only thing which damage passengers on back seats.
I've been pissed with Tesla removing all their radar and sensors. The fact that Sony has like a billion sensors in that car may be enough for me to switch in the near future. With the NACS implementation, there's almost no reason for me to stay loyal to Tesla.
I hope the capacitive panel does not make it over to Honda or Acura
I always wanted to drive a car with a tiny billboard between the headlights.
😆 Billboard.
I just remembered KITT (car).
Charge people to out ads/billboards, get paid to drive
@@tz7710 yeah woah you’ll be soo rich
Cars, even ridiculous cars, usually stay competitive in some class. So I'd expect this is targeted at people shopping the Tesla S plaid, Lucid Air, Mercedes S class, Audi Etron-GT, etc.. But this doesn't seem to have crazy performance chops, at least they haven't shown anything to indicate it will, so I imagine it's more focused on the showcasing of tech and quality to be an upgrade slotted between those and something like a Kia EV6 which is much more affordable. It will probably undercut the super luxury/performance models somewhat, so I'd guess it falls somewhere between 60-90k. Luxury, but not totally out of reach for mass market.
O my god take my money now
They should've called it Hony
Sonda would have been a much better name
Production model won't be even close.
5:01 would be cool if you could make it say "cop nearby" or something
Will it be sold at Honda dealerships?
will i be able to play gt7 while im driving?
AFFEELA…..sounds like “I feel like”.
It's easy to make that screen feature legal, it just shouldn't be able to engage while driving.
Why still have to wait until 2026? What is Sony and Honda waiting for?
You guys ever hear about the term 'range anxiety', ....we gotta have those numbers boys, otherwise its a no brainer...!!!
Its scary if a screen, or even a light bar gets a crack or broken. Probably have to replace it.
Sonda or Hony?
Absolutely beautiful car, absolutely awful camera settings. Even the car headlights are flickering because they messed up the camera frequently/shutter speed 😢
Better names:
Sonda
Hony ?
It looks futuristic though i believe it won’t age well due to it being too much tech. Technology regularly changes over time.
Not that much. with all due respect that is an exaggeration. Look at smartphones. How much do they actually change every year? It is basically just small iterations, but basically the same phone. Certainly hardware wise. The software is what changes most. And if you had read up on this car.....it has been engineered, designed, and planned around software. The first EV to have been done so from the ground up. And their plan is to specifically add new features through software. The exact purpose of it is to avoid the car becoming obsolete for a long time by constantly updating and upgrading the software. They in fact plan for people to own the car for a long time.
It looks like a Saturn car. A mix of Saturn S, Saturn SC and Ion
I hate the Yoke steering wheel man. The only way I see a yoke being useful is if they do steer by wire like The Cybertruck does
It can add a lot of ads 👌
wait until X box comes out with a car concept 😂😂😂
They need to keep the name Vision-S
What’s the price, range and charge time? The other crap is fine after you master the basics.
its all wonderful but the broad appeal wont be there due to price.
Sony is a better fit as GM’s Ultium has some pipeline throughput issues. 16:16
Honda needs to stay the hell away from GM.
It better than Tesla
The car should come with ps5 😂😂
PS6 Fortnite Afeela edition…
I told them that!
We playing gta 6 in playstation car
For the Electronically Obsessive-Compulsive crowd who recently stood a whole day to get the first I Phone 15 Pro Max at $1200+. Time to Pony up!
Looks Saturn ish
The subscription you never can own car making money from software while the driver is driven around for them.
Why Remote play tho? Why not just a full fledged PS5 Console into the actual car? It shouldnt be too difficult.
so a wonky accord that will cost x4 as much
Car is literally a TV 😂
No rear wiper. I know… but in the real world I inhabit this matters more than playing games on the dashboard.
i can’t wait to advertise Fortnite while i drive
Another concept that will never be built. Sony Does this every year
I just hope it’s reliable.
It’s a PlayStation on wheels
Dam , Knowing Sony, it will Last long. The name is Meh.
Looks dystopian af
Afeela sounds like a sparkling water, tea, or lotion brand 😂. As for the car, there's way too much focus on tech and entertainment that will drive up the price on launch and drastically reduce resale value later on. The design is already starting to look outdated. The car needs to come out TODAY if it wants to feel futuristic.
Just a Tesla with more screens
2026年?😅到那时候小鹏的汽车都会飞了
F GM. I live in Michigan and they make it hard to like em.
