    I love how Ratnesh's enthusiasm and desire to help you get the P1 back on the road. Imagine the parts were still expensive, but nowhere near what the factory charges. V Engineering is the kind of shop that love keeping these cars on the road and will probably save you a lot of research time with their knowledge

      Ratnesh is expecting a very considerable payment from Freddy. It's nice, that he's gonna make a special price for him to buy a bunch - but nobody thinks, he doesn't have a considerable margin to what he has originally paid. And that's fine. I love, that there are those treasure chests around - let them have their profit. If nobody collects those parts, it gets more expensive for everyone.

    Also, my mind was blown by Freddie's ability to identify McLaren parts off the cuff. It just goes to show the incredible amount of work he's putting in behind the scenes on these cars. That's the power of wrenching every day.

All the seller has to do is provide proof the parts left the country (within three months of invoice), the parts should have been zero rated for VAT. If you did pay the VAT make sure you ask for ask for zero rating the next time you export from the UK.

    • @ramanshah7627
      @ramanshah7627 Год назад +28

      Thing, though, is that those parts are extremely illiquid. If you're a burglar, you'd need to convert stolen goods to something you can actually use (e.g., cash). How do you do that? Set up a shop reselling McLaren parts and advertise it to the exact same couple hundred cost-sensitive McLaren owners that your victim is also advertising to?
      Long ago I heard that the worst car for theft risk at the time was a Honda Civic. Not expensive parts, at all, but the liquidity for stolen parts was the best. Lots of people will buy a cheap Honda Civic repair part for cash from a shady dealer and try not to think too hard about where the part came from.
      This dynamic ultimately protects someone like Ratnesh.
      This same dynamic showed up when I was a scientist. It's not hard to get into a research lab and wind up in front of a quarter-million-dollar machine that you could reasonably walk away with. I worked with several such machines over my training. But then what? Super illiquid.
      Love your handle by the way - the Mr. Sparkle episode was amazing :D

    • @ramanshah7627
      @ramanshah7627 Год назад +13

      (Actually remembering now, from my Ph.D. - I remember an incident when a burglar sneaked into a lab building and walked away with some stuff. What did they walk away with? None of the hundreds of millions of dollars of gorgeous specialized scientific equipment. They walked away with office computers.)

    • @mrsparkle9048
      @mrsparkle9048 Год назад +3

      @@ramanshah7627 Oh I agree they wouldn't be as easy to sell; it's a bit like thieves who target fine art. He's probably well-protected against a smash-and-grab from some local thieves. But if someone had connection to big money in the Middle East or any sort of international relationship, I can easily see a scenario where the goods would just get moved to a market where you could find unscrupulous buyers. But yes, a P1 steering wheel isn't something your local pawn shop is going to buy.

    Happy to see you having success with this build, i think it’s really special that you are able to take on such a project and share it with everyone. Most won’t ever see a P1 in person and getting to see pretty much everything inside and out on one is really awesome.

    He jacked so many of these parts 😂. I worked at dealerships, and they don't get rid of brand new rotors, especially worth 10k each 😂

    At some point Ratnesh can just build his own McLaren Frankenstein's monster out of the whole thing.

    What I find amazing is how Sam is having a nightmare with his Aston Martin and how McLaren (and their shops/dealers/etc) are more than happy to see their cars made right and on the road again.

    What a great video, it really looks like the Yellow Submarine has a great future ahead back on the roads. And who thought there would be a Aladdin's cave just for P1s, you just have to love high end hoarders.

    Freddie had a trick up his sleeve since day 1. He may not have known how he was going to execute, but he definitely did not go into this blind. As said he had already purchased parts for his other mcclearan from a guy who has tons of parts. Well played on knowning where to look. Its all coming together with each video. I see a P1 being driven before 2024, maybe not complete, but not far from it. 😊
