    1. Mangosteen, if durian is the king of fruits Mangosteen is the queen of fruits. You can actually pinch the side of the peel to open it or use a knife to cut the sides around it.
2.Pomelo is a giant orange. Thai people call it Som O (Som mean orange).
    3. The banana you eat is Kluai Nam Wa. Kluai mean banana is one of the varieties of banana that Thai people like to make as a dessert. And the big banana in your country that you can often see is Kluai Hom. It's big and fragrant. And if I introduce my favorite banana, the egg banana, it is small and the middle of the banana is orange and tastes like an egg.
And 4. Dragon fruit is actually a kind of cactus fruit. The trees are elongated and can climb along the walls or on the trunks of large trees. The dragon fruit tree was a long, green color shaped like a dragon or dragon's backbone. and its fruit shall be at the tip of the tree. It would be like a dragon carrying a dragon orb.😁😁🙏🙏

I like the queen of fruits better than the king of fruits that's for sure!!! haha!
HAHA it DOES look like a giant orange!! hahahaha!
Thats so cool! haha my friend from home just told me that sometimes we have dragonfruit at home but not often, and they're SO SMALL and are kind of brown. Not really pink and green vibrant colours that are here! Thailand is much better for fruit!! haha

@@josieliftsthings There are many kinds of fruit around Thailand. This is the normal fruits that the agriculturists have their farms for harvesting to the markets. I think you will search or ask the information before eating. The taste of fruits are sweet, sour, bitter or astringent. You will eat it with sorting. I recommended the sour taste of fruit is the first. You will be happier than you eat sweet firstly.

Dragon fruit has 2 color white inside and purple inside but white is more fav. And normally you just cut in the middle and peel off with your hand.

This is durian season so you’ll see tons of durian in the market like that. Durian and mangosteen are on the same season durian giving you hot feeling and mangosteen giving the cool so people likes to eat them together to help you balance the vibe that’s why they called durian king of fruit and mangosteen queen of fruit in Thailand.

Actually Thai consider mangosteen as Queen of Fruits while the king is durian.
The furry lychee is not lychee but it is rambutan or "ngo" in Thai. This fruit name is one of many challenges in pronunciation for Thai Language Learner.
The giant mandarin is Pomelo, the one with pink pulps taste in the way of grapefruit.
Other fruits you might like to try are Snake Fruit (Sala in Thai), Long Kong (different from Longan), Ma Yong Chit, and maybe Rose Apple.

If you want a sweet mangosteen fruit, choose dark purple skin color. While not all pomelo tastes sweet, some taste a little sour and also taste sweet. And pamelo also comes in 2 colors, namely yellowish and pink. Likewise, with dragonfruit, there are white and also red colors. The taste of rambutan is sweet like lychee fruit, but lychee fruit is juicier and the skin is not hairy like rambutan fruit. I really enjoy your adventure and thanks for sharing. Big Like. Have a nice day. Greeting from Singapore.

Hey Josie, mangosteens and rambutans are my favourite fruits. I can literally eat it everyday but here in Australia it's too expensive lol😅 everytime I see them i get so happy and excited. You can find them at any asian supermarkets here in Australia when it's in season. Tips for Mangosteen: to find out how many little slice are inside of a Mangosteen, look on the bottom of the Mangosteen, you will find a brown colour shape like a flower. Count the little slice/ petals and it will tell you how many slices are inside of it. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say lol. If not just check the bottom and you will know what I'm talking about😊

Haha! After that we realised that you can also buy green mnangos in Thailand! (We don’t sell or eat green mangoes at home) Hahha so I haven’t tried it yet properly! 😂😂

The Lao are the most hospitable people I've met. I've had glasses of beer pressed into my hand and a couple of marriage proposals just walking through markets. Their Beerlao is one of the nicest beers on the planet. Give it a go. Food is spicy and absolutely delicious. The Lao love huge flavours. Try the national dish, laap. Also try green papaya salad (tam mak koung) or spicy cucumber salad (tam mak teung), with grilled chicken (ping gai)or grilled fish (ping pa) and sticky rice (khao niaow). Other "exotic" fruits you should try out include: jack fruit or "ka-noon", very large fruit with bumpy green skin, normally only the yellow flesh is sold in packets or plastic bags. The seeds are very nutty and delicious boiled, also sometimes sold as street snack.
Rose apple or "chom-poo" comes in several varieties, the green and pink "chom-poo-pet" is probably the best, unless you can find the very rare "chom-poo ma-miew" variety
Salacca wallichiana known as "ra-gum" red with needley skin, unique flavour and smell that is an acquired taste, you might not like it first time you try, but keep trying you may find yourself eating piles of it.
Custard apple or "noi-na", sweet tamarind "ma-kam", but not the sour kind that's used to make pad thai sauce.
    La-mood, long-gong, longan "lum yai",
A few that are not unique to the region include star fruit "ma-fuang", guava "farang" , jujube "put-sa"
Some are harder to find than others and are in season at different times. The best place to find premium quality fruits (at a price) of all kinds is the "or-tor-kor" market, near the huge and popular Chatuchak weekend market but or tor kor operates every day.

Glad you like our fruits! I also think some fruit taste better when they're grown in right places.
Have you take Mangosteen's seed out? XD It's a little hard thing inside the white part. I usually not eat it but some ppl do.
The bendy mandarin thing you referred was Pomelo. Pomelo usually has weird bitter after-taste which I also dislike. Their taste depend on species I believed, some sweet, some sour.
Rambutan is completely different from Lychee, the shell is the most obvious different. Lychee has a pink rough skin, no hair. While Rambutans are red and hairy. Their taste and smells are also very different but it might be hard to differentiate if you had tried only the processed version of them. (I like that every time you mention it as lychee the bell ding and say "It's a rambutan" lol)
Watermelon is my all-time fav :) They're very refreshing!

Choosing to eat various fruits that you buy and eat. If you put dragon fruit, watermelon in the refrigerator, it will be very delicious. Because of the juicyness of dragon fruit juice and watermelon, helping to extinguish the heat of the air. The mangosteen is the queen of Thailand. It is a fruit that helps to cure the heat in Even if you eat too much durian and choosing to eat durian Thai people will choose a crispy outside and soft inside. because it won't have a strong smell the taste will be delicious not too sweet But if you choose a very soft one, it will have a strong smell that people say stink, something like that... yes 😁😁😁

I remembered that I had to eat as many as possible while I was in the region coz the Western world doesn't have such a fruit. When you buy mangosteens, you should actually pick the small young ones. Unlike other fruits, if mangosteen are bigger and older, they start to form inedible seed. The younger ones do not have seeds that are formed yet so you can eat the entire white flesh. I remembered having to spit out the seeds because I always picked the biggest ones.

Mangosteen seed is edible and chewy, but never chew other fruit seeds since they could be bitter.

I totally agree with you about the pineapple, watermelon, & bananas. I never liked pineapple until I had it in Thailand. Most fruits are so much better in Thailand! Pomellos (the one you said was like a sour mandarin) are very similar in taste to grapefruit, just with a different texture. There are some tricks to open the mangosteen and rambutan by hand but it takes some practice. You had me laughing so hard every time the "It's rambutan" popped up!

Right!! I knew I liked pineapple and watermelon so when we got here I didn't rush to get them because I thought I knew what they tasted like, but I did not know!! haha they are SO much better here! It's like 50x better! haha.
The pomelo was a little too sour for me but I heard they can sometimes be sweet so I;ll try and get a sweet one! hahah.
I heard you can squeeze them now or something but I wish I knew that! 😂 haha, I can't believe how many times I said I thought it was the completely wrong fruit hahah! Thank you so much for watching!!

There are many kinds of banana, and the way of serving it is also varied. There are bananas best for deeply fried, boiled, grilled, and trust me there also bananas best eaten young when they are cooked with coconut (gulai / curry like sauce).

  • @nalin9058
    @nalin9058 2 года назад +2

The banana I think they are called sugar banana. Pomelo is supposed to have both sweet and sour taste. Putting ranbutan (peeled) in a fridge before eating makes it tastes better. Also canned rambutan in syrup is quite nice too. 😊
You will see many familiar fruits like these when you travel to other countries in SEA.

Hi guys, laughed at the look on your face when you tried to eat the skin of the mangosteen , Dragon fruit is my fav and there is a red flesh dragon fruit which I like the best, better than the white flesh one see if you can try the red flesh dragon fruit, I know you can get it in Thai like supermarkets already peeled, I will be looking for that as soon as my feet hit the ground in Bangkok come October. Have a great day
