- This is my first time in Malaysia! I'm so happy to be here in Kuala Lumpur for the first time. I am so happy to share my first impressions of both Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur with you!
In this video, we fly into KLIA before we catch the KL Ekspres train from KLIA to KL Sentral. We check into our hotel, the Hilton KL, and get ready to explore!
We’re staying in the KL Sentral and Brickfields area of Kuala Lumpur, so we grab a traditional Malaysian Breakfast of Roti Bakar, Hainan Tea, and Milo at Ah Weng Koh Hainan Tea, before we set out on foot to see what the city has to offer, including catching public transport in Kuala Lumpur to see Dataran Merdeka JUST before Malaysian Independence day next week, Masjid Jamek, the River of Life, Kampang Baru, and the Petronas Towers. We spend our time also searching for some local food, particularly Nasi Lemak in Kampang Bharu, Kuala Lumpur, having our FIRST EVER Nasi Lemak at what some people call the BEST Nasi Lemak in Kuala Lumpur - Nasi Lemak Wanjo!

new yourk malysia 😉😉
Yeah, Milo originates from Australia. But here in Malaysia, it has become like a national drink, consumed throughout the day, everywhere. Incidentally, Malaysia is the world's biggest consumer of Milo and the world's biggest Milo manufacturing plant is also located in Malaysia. 😊
It's funny because at home in Australia I didn't really drink it much, but now I LOVE it!!!! hahaha!! I'm probably helping Malaysia drink the most of it 😂 😂
@@josieliftsthings Ha ha. Good for you then 😊
@@josieliftsthings during my school days every year we will wait for the Milo van to arrive. Everyone will get a free Milo drink incl all the teachers. Don't know if every school in M'sia will get this kind of treatment but I think this is how M'sia become Milo biggest consumer market.
Malaysian milo the most delicious in this world..
Malaysian students in Australia would seek out Malaysian made Milo at the Asian grocers as it's richer and less sweet than Aussie made Milo.
I'm a Singaporean married to a Malaysian, sadly as much as it hurts to admit it, I think Malaysian foods are way superior than ours. Especially Malay and Indian food, it's like day and night.
I think it's mainly because they can get fresh produce everywhere.
If you're still in Malaysia by the 31st of August you should go to their Independence's Day celebration. There will be a parade of all sorts showcasing their military prowess, government agencies and diverse cultures.
The rice in SG. so good. Btw I'm M'sian
And the M'sian food is $ while S'pore food is $$$.
@@zulkiflijamil4033 you should try Negeri Sembilan masak lomak ciliapi, yellow rivers, smoke beef, smoke catfish, smoke duck, smoke burung puyuh, tolo itik, ikan baung, gulai tempoyak daun kayu, rendang maman, rendang kerang......
Same heritage people. But with much more diversity in Malaysia. There is already state to state food variant and each state unique food as well and span across different cultures. And let us not forget East Malaysia. For me Sgp is just only another variant. You guys have great food for sure and doing a good job on preservation with lots of marketing. Ours depends a lot on visitors review and word of mouth which are good for us. It is also a matter of preference. For me imperfection in surrounding than a polished and dictated surrounding adds on to the experience that money can't buy.
Hi bro. I m a Msian...lived in Singapore 42 years
I only realise it .....confirm the fact about food deliciousness recently....After the Covid opening up.
Now I drive up every weekend (if I brave the traffic jam).... For food. Haha.
Congratulations for your national holiday on 31st August Malaysia from your friends in Germany

Malaysian coffee uses local beans that is called Librica afaik. Usually roasted with margarine (malay version) or butter (hakka/hokkien style). Can't much about mamak style, never asked them where they sourced their coffee.
Nasi Lemak sambal are always homemade and are different between each kitchen that makes them. Different races also have different variation of it.
If you want to order drinks, here's some tips:
- Kosong (zero) means no sugar
- "O" as in the letter O means no milk/creamer
- kurang manis means less sweet (although it can be still sweet, lol)
- Kaw or Kaw-kaw (pronounce as cow and cow cow respectively) means extra thick (usually when ordering coffee or milo)
- some malays uses the word "bing" or "beng" for ice (but only on drinks)
Example, Teh O means black tea no milk/creamer. Teh O bing, iced tea.
Do be careful with sugar intake, things are very sweet even in sambals.
Edit: I''m not Malaysian if I dont recommend Ramly Burger. So do try it. Order Beef or Chicken special to start and ask for less chilli sauce if you cant handle the heat.
This is the best!! Thank you so much for the effort for these suggestions!! ☺️☺️🙏🏻 thank you!
I need to try all of the Milo’s 😈 😂😂
And stay tuned about the ramly!! 😂😁

Malaysia 🇲🇾 truly Asia!
I miss going back to Malaysia especially Genting Highlands - from Philippines
Frankly genting is more a theme park and casino. Just that it is atop a mountain like ba na hills vietnam
@@keangwooichoo6138 there’s a Chinese temple near that area. It’s breathtaking!
@@edgarnapiza4667 i know chin swee. The late founder had a dream before deciding to build genting. To honour that place he built a temple there.
I can't wait to hopefully experience this for myself! If you're saying its worth it, it must be amazing!! 🤩
@@josieliftsthings there are buses that go genting from several bus terminals, then take the cable cars up.
Some depart from pudu or kl sentral. Depends which one is nearer to you.
You should go to Lake Gardens, National Monument and Taman Tugu. They are all within walking distance with each other. While there you can visit Nasi Lemak Tanglin as well.
I can feel your happiness and you spark joy to me. Thanks for coming Malaysia and love us 🇲🇾
Thank you so so much!!! I love it here. Thank you for watching! 😁😁😁🙏🏻
malaysia is a diverse country with many different ethnicity including the malays, chinese and the indians. And I'm so glad that you enjoyed malaysia so far!! i would recommend you to visit cameron highlands, genting highlands and most of the islands (pulau redang, pulau tioman)!

For the coffee part, it's fun how Malaysian kind of transform western coffee into their own unique local coffee, locally roasted beans too. You may try these out:
C = Evaporated Milk & Kosong (Empty) = Without sugar
Kopi O = Americano with sugar
Kopi O Kosong = Americano without sugar
Kopi C = Latte with sugar
Kopi C Kosong = Latte without sugar
You can change the kopi (coffee) to teh (tea) or cham (tea mix with coffee)
Have fun in Malaysia! But remember to look after your valuables, keep them close to you. Malaysia is a beautiful country but still, must be careful. Have a great journey ahead.
Cheers,

Melaka & Penang is like a `twins' similar but with its own personality! you want to experience a different vibe go to East Coast to Trengganu & Kelantan, different food of course yummy, new draw bridge & Kampung budaya (cultural village), pasar payang in trengganu. Kelantan has similar vibe like trengganu but there is `Thai' buddhist temple in Tumpat with huge figurine..just a suggestion..
Places to visit in Malaysia:
1) Malacca - World Heritage City just like Penang, but with old Dutch, Portuguese and English history.
2) Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Redang (Two beautiful islands with white sand beaches off the coast of Terengganu state)
3) Pulau Langkawi - A Geo-Park island with cable cars, eagle feeding, island hopping rides)
4) Ipoh - Like Penang in terms of English colonial history, but with a much different vibe
5) Cameron Highlands - Old English hill station with tea, strawberry and fruit farms, hiking trails and mozzy forest
6) Johor with the actual southernmost point in mainland Asia located here in the Johor state, bordering Singapore.
7) Sarawak - World's largest caves and endangered animals with oldest rainforests in Miri and Mukah.
8) Sabah - Orang Utan and Sun Bear rehabilation, Kundasang ( Malaysia's New Zealand cow farms, Sabah tea farms)
Pulau tioman,putrajaya,Shah alam,Kuala terengganu,alor setar,port Dickson,pulau pangkor,semporna..banyak lagi sebenarnya dowh
And mount Kinabalu
... Mossy forest ...

I literally LOVE this food too!!! Thank you!!! 😍😁😁😁
You hit the nail on the right spot. That place in pudu is a good starting point for food. Next is little india brickfields. Then kampung baru. You can go try jalan alor later but food price there is higher as it is touristy. For china town, do not go at night, go in the morning. More food is sold in the morning.

The hill stations of
Penang hill - asia's longest funicular train, one of the oldest in the world.
Fraser's hill - bird watching, nature
The cameron highlands - tea plantations, nature
Genting highlands - theme parks
Sarawak state borneo
Mulu national park - sarawak chambers, limestone pinnacles
Bako national park sea stacks like the great ocean road (australia) apostles
Pahang state
Taman negara national park - enter the world's oldest tropical rainforest. Nature, hiking.
There are two more hill stations, the Maxwell Hill (Bukit Larut), at Taiping, Perak and Gunung Jerai in Kedah... both for nature and cool temp.
But if you want to enjoy nature camping or swimming in the streams, Hulu Langat and Janda Baik which are 1 hour drive to the south east or north east of KL respectively, are places worthwhile for you to visit.
Kuala Kubu Bharu, Batang Kali is also popular (a good 1hr15min frm KL) and you can do white water rafting in the former town.
Then if you wanted to visit paddy fields and fishing villages, the Jeram to Sabak Bernam route (about 1hr30min frm KL) is for you.
If you plan to visit Ipoh and then Penang stop at a few towns along the way namely Taiping where the Maxwell Hill that I mentioned before is (the city of first, called this as this is where many of the infrastructure in Malaysia was first developed here, first public pool, first museum, first post office, first train station etc). Also Kuala Kangsar (the Royal Town), nice architecture of places etc and also you can visit the artisans there, ie keris maker, tekat embroider, labu sayong clayware.
Want to have a relaxing dip in a Hotspring, Sungai Klah (Felda Hotspring resort) and Tambun (Banjaran Hotspring, Lost world of Tambu) is where you should go. There are also hotspring resorts in Bentong, Pahang (eryabysurya) and in Kalumpang of Kuala Kubu Baru.
And some smaller hotsprings in the areas of Batang Kali, Hulu Langat in Selangor,Pedas in Negeri Sembilan and
Gadek and a few others in Melaka.
As for things to do in and around KL, you can go to FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia ) for canopy walk, climb Broga Hill in Semenyih, go for a tour of one of our popular fresh milk brand's dairy farm at farm fresh at UPM (aka The Acres by farm fresh) in Serdang and the nearby pineapple Plantation in Sungai Merab, Bangi....
Sunway Lagoon (theme park), Shah Alam's I-CIty (also a theme park), The National Agricultural Park and Skytrex adventure park also in Shah Alam. Also Crab Island (Pulau Ketam) a Chinese fishing village of Port Klang. Pulau Carey to visit the Mahmeri (one of our indegenous tribe) cultural Village.
Nearer to KL, Zoo Negara, also Kemensah area where you can dine in the river (Kemensah BBq Lamb)
Talking about food, also near to the zoo is Taman Melawati where you can get lemang and rendang along the highway near the zoo, nasi ayam (chicken rice) Melawati at the food court, Tisha's Murtabak at Anjung Melawati and If you decided to go early in on Saturday n Sunday mornings, there are Mee Rebus (noodle dish) and rojak at Haji Ismail's at the food court by the morning farmer's Market and in the evening on Saturdays there will be a night Market there....
You can also visit KL Night Street every night except Mondays at Sri Rampai but if you decide to go there go early afternoon before 3 so that you can visit the Royal Selangor factory (pewter ware) before going to the night Market.
I also recommend you to go to the Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman's Saturday Night Market, Taman Connaught Wednesday Night Market.
@@ashtriana1 next time plz make it shorter k...its way too long maa...
@@herihazril , well, there are many places of interest to suggest. Not all are listed, if they are, it will be 2000 words essay.

If you love beautiful beaches/islands & back to nature, do visit Sabah & Sarawak.
The thing about traditional Malaysian coffee is that the beans are roasted with sugar and butter. So Malaysian coffee is a bit more bitter than usual from the burnt sugar but it also has that very slight aftertaste of caramel.
East course TRENGGANU AND KELANTAN is the best place to visit and the people very friendly and the food is marvoulous….
Yesss thank you! I love your suggestions! Still planning a bit of the trip! Thank you! 😁😁
In kampung baru you can sample those east coast offerings, because most of the residents there originally came from kelantan and terengganu. Try *nasi dagang* and *laksam* at *kak som* (across from wanjo), *pulut mangga (mango + fragrant sticky rice smothered with coconut milk)* as well as simple seafood dinner at *suraya seafood* (just a few shops further in from kak som down the same street) and variety of *traditional malay kuih* and *traditional malay bubur (sweet porridges eg corn, mung beans etc)* as snacks/desserts from *chunburi* (corner shop across from suraya).
But if you go to suraya, best be there around 7pm, if you go at 8 or 9, it's usually packed, you'd have to wait a bit before getting a table.
Enjoy! 👍
@@josieliftsthings And if u were to visit the east coast (kelantan and terengganu) you may experience different type of malay culutre there as east coast malays are more conventional and indigenous compared to the west coast where most malay cultures are influenced by the outside world😁

Sipadan Island 🏝 located in the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia is a MUST-VISIT spot for everyone. According to Wikipedia, it’s the only oceanic island in Malaysia, rising 600 meters (2,000 ft) from the seabed. It was formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct volcano cone that took thousands of years to develop. It was one of the top dive destination in the world, even listed in Rodale’s Scuba Diving Magazine Gold List. Visiting Sipadan Island requires a permit issued by Sabah Parks, a Sabah Government Agency. Since 2019, there are 178 permits available each day. In certain period of the year, the island will be closed to public for “Marine Life Recuperation”. So, do plan ahead for your visit to Sabah. Enjoy the your stay in Malaysia! 😉

Oh no. You're at the wrong place to see the twin tower at night. Much of the visitors stay at the large park at the back with symphony and light fountain show
Hahaha I actually like the front!! I like seeing it from the bottom. But why didn’t it light up??? 🤔
@@josieliftsthings it's normal light up where the top at full light. But I've seen it light up from bottom to top. To much glow/ contrasty and really stand out from the other building. Not blend in at all. Maybe that is why it's only light up at the top side. Other reason probably related to energy saving.
That saloma birdge looks pretty during nite time.
“Kopi O Kosong” (black coffee without sugar), “Kopi O” (black cofee with sugar).
I LOVE coffee, so I'm excited! hahah! Thank you for teaching me this!
Helipad bar / Heli bar in KL is a cool place for photos and a drink. There is also a really reasonably priced hawker at the top of Petronas Towers. Batu Caves are a must visit from KL. In Langkawi there's an amazing Indian restaurant called Pia's the Padi and a chilled beach bar called Yellow Beach Cafe. Enjoy! x
Helipad is not cheap though. I think there are other places but not well known nearby
Malaysia famous with slogan "malaysia truly asia"..its very different with other country around the world😊
It is different, I didn't know what to expect but in a good way it's so amazing!
🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭keep safe miss coffee wherever you are
God bless.
Miss coffee ☕️ 😂 thank you!!! 😁😁🙏🏻
here is my recommendation: Nasi Lemak (official national dish) at Nasi Lemak Wanjo Kampung Baru KL, Nasi Kandar, Nasi Ganja Ipoh (Perak state), Nasi Ambeng, Nasi Kerabu, Ayam Percik, Mee Goreng Mamak, Rendang, Asam Laksa (Penang state), Laksa Johor (Johor state), Laksa Sarawak (Sarawak state), roti canai, teh tarik, durian, some street food like Ramly Burger or Roti John, and so on... In some cases, street stalls serve much tastier, authentic and more satisfying food than five star hotels food. Malaysia also famous for fusion food, combination of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Thai, Western, and so on. my personal fav restaurant is Mamak Restaurant (Indian Muslim), or any malay restaurant... here some tips: the more customers a restaurant has, the tastier the food is.
Welcome to Malaysia, enjoy ur days...😊❤
Thank you so much!! Loving it so much!! 😁😁
I'm not Malaysian or a Muslim, and I dislike getting my hands dirty. However when eating Nasi Lemak, I like to eat with my hand because I can get a little bit everything. Try it next time.
That’s how I eat my Roti Banjir 😁😁😁

Welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾 In order for u to truly appreciate Malaysia’s diversity as a whole, I would strongly recommend that u plan ahead and spend some time (with a good pace) in every state in Malaysia. Then, u would truly understand why MALAYSIANS would always say “Malaysia, Truly Asia!” In fact, that’s the theme of our tourism motto back in the days, and how u simplified what/how is Malaysia to others 😎
the loud speaker that you hear is the Qur'an reciting b4 they start any prayer..maybe 20 or 30 minutes b4 pray..after that..you can hear the 'Azan'..

Yuanne, watching videos like this tends to make one feel like they're missing out and cause them to be dissatisfied with their own life. But remember, it's just a video. There's no such thing as a perfect life that is trouble-free, no difficulties, no pain.etc. Yes, we can set goals in life, but let's be thankful for where we are right now, and thankful for what we have right now. Count your blessings. God is good.

Thanks for this wonderful video n for showing your day explorations. Thanks also for your first impressions of KL. Welcome to Malaysia.
I'm a new subscriber from Kuantan, Pahang, a petit city in d east coast of peninsular Malaysia,
After u had d coconut shake, what u heard was an arabic recital of verses from Al Quran, d holy book of Muslim worshippers. Probably, there's a mosque nearby preparing for one of d 5 prayers in a day for d Muslim. U were in Kampung Baru, a reserved Malay area, one of d most less developed area in d city of KL.
While waiting for d whole two twin towers to be illuminated, I wonder if u guys see d symphony fountain display at d other side, towards d KLCC park. If u like philharmonic orchestra, there's a concert hall in d podium between d two twin towers.
If u r interested to see d KL skylines from a higher ground, u can do so in many ways. U can either do d skybridge tour between d twin towers or from d observation decks on d KL Tower or d Helipad Lounge or d rooftop gardens n swimming pools on top of many hotels n apartments in d city area, like d Face Suite, Banyan Tree Hotel etc.
There have been many recent vloggers since d opening up of Malaysia for tourists arrival. One of my fav, could be a point of reference to u, is d Sunkissed Bucket List UTube channel.
Going to melaka....the best..
The food looks delicious.

The Quran recitation makes me comfort too, especially after drink the coconut shake.. Nyum

Guess where all the food in singapore came from?
Here??? 😁
@@josieliftsthings do not forget sg was part of malaysia once. Even their durians come from our orchards. The only thing they are famous for are hainanese chicken rice. Singaporeans travel to melaka, penang and ipoh for authentic food. This one they never tell foreigners.
@@josieliftsthings exactly.. Singapore used to be part of Malaysia.. that's why

Hi, please visit Sultan Ibrahim Stadium n explore about JDT. Please come to the stadium for a jdt match at SSI n u’ll be amaze
Welcome to Malaysia!😁
Thank you!!! 😁😁😁☺️
On the way to johor baru, if you go by car or bus, probably you can have a stopover at *melaka* for 1 day.
They have a nice place of attractions in ayer keroh which is right after the toll plaza off the north-south highway, about 2 hours drive from kl and about 3 hours before jb.
Their melaka zoo was very nice but idk how it is now, post pandemic.
Further in, about ½hour drive is the city centre, where you can visit the historic structures left by the dutch and the portuguese from the 18th century, as well as the famous jonker street.
Anyhow, welcome to malaysia and have a wonderfully pleasant and memorable stay throughout! 👍
I really wish I could go to places like this with my husband, but I’d be very nervous because he’s allergic to coconut. 🙄
Michaels allergic to whipped cream which is in a lot of things too, hahaha, but you’re right lots of coconuts there!! 😩😩 Maybe a day trip just for yourself? 😂😂
@@josieliftsthings I’m in Shropshire, England, so I’d need a whole day just to travel there. I’d feel so guilty going that far without him, because he wants to travel more than anything. Do you usually have to take milk alternatives with you when you travel, or do you find another way around it?
If you are allergic to coconut, are you allergic to palm oil fruit too? For cendol (chen-dol), try to find or ask the seller if they use coconut milk (santan kelapa) or santan sawit (extract from the palm oil kernel)... As for the dishes your hubby can opt for sambal dishes or singgang, pindang or masak air. And if your hubby are going to nasi Kerabu, ask them not to put serunding kelapa (coconut shaving) on it, but I can't help you with options for curry (xcept some of the Indian curries that used yogurt (tairu) instead of santan) nasi lemak, masak lemak (coconut soup), pulut, rendang. So, maybe you will only eat Chinese here.....
A tip, don't worry about the allergy if its just a mild one, just eat the coconuts and take medication, eventually you will not be allergic to it any more... It happens to me, I used to be allergic to shellfish but I just ate them and then suddenly I am not allergic to them anymore.....
Anyway, never heard of people allergic to coconuts, peanuts/nuts yes, dairy yes, gluten yes but not coconut ever...
@@ashtriana1 Thank you! He gets an upset stomach from too much coconut oil but can handle a little… everything else from a coconut gives him a bad rash if he gets it on his skin & last time he ate some in a curry he ended up in hospital with anaphylactic shock. He’s never been given medication for it, just told to avoid it. There’s palm oil in almost everything here & we haven’t noticed any reaction to that. Other nuts he’s fine with. He loves Chinese food so he’d be happy with that. I just panic about him eating coconut without realising.
@@tinsley7850 I see... Well here, most of the fried food will be with palm oil (ask the seller if u r not sure), the kuehs (desserts) usually used coconut milk or shredded Coconut except for a few, such as kuih keria (glazed with white sugar) and karipap sardin , by the way do you think your husband will be allergic to gula melaka (palm sugar made from the coconut flower sap)?
You can go up the Menara Kuala Lumpur (the high telecommunication tower) for a 360 view!
