I recently purchased a cimbasso from a company called O’Malley which also uses a China factory, and they do wrap the case in a foam layer before putting it in the box. I’ve noticed a lot of the same points you brought up with my own instrument: there’s some minor impractical assembly choices, strange note slotting, all that. But boy is it fun, and I can’t understate it. I’m glad we could have a bit of a shared experience!
I have one of these that I got for $2.6k off of reverb in the key of F. I currently pair it with a Denis Wick Classic 2SL which is a wide but shallow tuba mouthpiece and it sounds fantastic! One thing that I had done to it was removing the right hand thumb ring completely because it was horrendous to play with it there. I also had to have the 2nd tuning slide lever soldered because it would keep coming apart... Other than that, $2.6k for a cimbasso? Can't complain.
I play tuba and dabble in trombone, so I've been interested in the cimbasso for that classic tuba/bass trombone combo. Have heard it's hard to find good models of it due to how uncommon it is, though.
Very interesting video, love the sound this makes, as a euphonium player I want one. 2x👍 I found a couple of UK retailers selling them if you need one here.
Hi Trent - I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a trumpet that would be good for an adult beginner? I’m on a budget and am looking for something reasonably priced but still usable. Thank you!
Unrelated to this video, but it would be amazing if you could make a video on exactly how the triggers on a bass trombone change where each slide position is. Also you make amazing, informative videos, I’ve learnt so much :)
99% of fifth valves on tuba like instruments are a flat whole step, so kind of like an additional 1st valve but tuned a little lower. It helps with intonation in the low register and gives you better finger choices down there. Tuba like instruments will occasionally have a 2nd valve tuning trigger. This is because generally the 2nd valve is the only tuning slide you don’t readily have access to. The others are located in a position that allows you to pull and push them with your hand as needed.
How do the valve combinations work? It doesn't appear to be compensating, so 4th valve (assuming it's like a Tuba) plus a couple of other valves is going to be way out of tune.
The bell section is a very clumsy design in MHO. It needs to re-designed in a more vertically wrapped up way with the bell then pointed, say 45 deg upwards.
Hello, I know you don't do RUclips much anymore, but I was wondering if you could give me any tips on starting a music RUclips channel. The Channel I want to make would be mostly brass instruments.
Hey man, is there a chance you could make a video about your audio setup? I want to start making covers of music in my free time and also having good audio for auditions for my future.
It pleases me that the word "hoot" is in your vocabulary; it is one of my favorite words.
Good to see Trent Hamilton again. I missed him.
Part 3 please. Actually, more content in general king. Can't get enough.
It is fun owning odd objects that are so out of the ordinary that they become conversation-starters everywhere they are taken in public.
What a wonderful surprise to see a Trent Hamilton video in my news feed. I miss those. Greetings from the town of Cincinnati in Ohioland!👍🎺
Wessex-tubas makes cimbassos lower than Eb. (BBb)

IT SAID "It's just talking" IN THE TITLE, SPED
CIMBASSO 🎉!!!!!!!!!
Hyper ventilating while playing is normal. I speak as a Tuba player.
Hey Trent. There is a rare brass instrument called oficleide. Look for it please
I want one of those for my schools band.

Come back soon, Trent.
Can you tell us what the 5th valve does, please. And why is the trigger on the 2nd valve slide and not the 1st or 3rd like a trumpet?

No one is going to talk about this man's impressive weight loss?
I did , but no really he looks great😊
Where do you buy all these things
If you are ever able to find one, could you try a vienna horn and compare it to a typical double horn?
My Bb/G bugle doesn't have the tuning slide problem. I haven't been able to figure out why yet.

Where can I get an F piston trombone like yours? in the background of the video?
How did you get your hands on a good condition Conn Mellophonium
Unfortunately, it seems due to the shape of the cimbasso, it is susceptible to shipping damage.
good to se you back xD
Where did you get it? I want one

Hey I was wondering if you can do a review on the Schiller studio 547 trombone?
Man why don't they just make like tuba shaped cimbasso so its not like all big and all over the place
The Cybertruck of brass instruments, I guess.
Criky mate
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
