  • In Part 8 of our series on installing a Chinese Diesel Heater in my Vintage Trailer, in an effort to silence the "tick, tick, tick", I build an insulated box to enclose the fuel pump. Will it be successful, or will even more efforts be required?
Hey y'all! About 6 months before the pandemic shut the world down in Mar 2019, my wife and I purchased a vintage camper... a California-built 1965 Oasis... and the vintage trailer project had begun!
Sadly, our hopes of hooking up our trailer and seeing where the wind takes us was quickly stifled by some pretty restrictive provincial camping registration limitations. Even so, we managed to get out a few times and in the process came to realize that "vintage charm", while... charming... sometimes needs a few modern amenities.
To that end I've made a few upgrades. Nothing outrageous... ventilation; running lights; 12V electrical upgrades & solar... making every attempt to maintain as much of the original vibe as possible.
I'm no expert, and these videos are for entertainment purposes, but I like to take things apart, figure out how they work, and improve upon them if I can... and if you can benefit from me sharing some of my projects, all the better!
So please... feel free to like and subscribe, post questions and/or comments, and I will answer to the best of my ability.
At the end of the day we're all in this together!

Thank you for your instructions that I will use to make my fuel pump a little quieter in my van for my winter sojourn on Vancouver Island.

I I covered the important spots. Plug a the input an output. Got a Tupperware container. A completely encapsulated mine in the closes silicone I could find to what xxx toys are made from.
Used a razor to trim the block to fit in the heater in its spot. A trim down to the ports an plug. Hooked it up an jammed it into its space and it’s worked like a champ

Buy the pump with the built in filter, worth the 25 dollar upgrade.

If you just suspend it with a small bungy cord (from top and bottom) and wrap it with foam or insulation to deaden the sound and you'll be set!

Very very curious if the "tick, tick" went away...

You will NEVER EVER get rid of the ticking noise completely.

We want 95% your voice, 5% background music, not 50/50. Turn the music down.
