Possibly my new favorite tranquil place on the island! So nice to find new places...
Hi dear how did u do to get access in the lighthouse. I went there once but couldn't have access inside. I'm Mauritian and it was my dream since childhood to visit a dreamhouse. U r so lucky
You should be able to just walk in through the main gate and there is a man who can take you to the top.
Lucy Leheilleix Nice vid! When I enquired about going inside the lighthouse to have a look around and film I was told that you need to get authorisation from the Mauritius Ports Authority. How were you able to get the keeper to take you inside?
My wife an I have been there recently. Tourist attraction in a completely different way. We loved it.
Fantastic video.
Thanks very much :)
greetings to Paul, he let me go up in March 2024
Love the videos Lucy. Around 20 years ago we were on the rocks below and the lighthouse keeper came down and asked if we wanted to look inside! Some great views from the top, as you say.
As small islands go, Mauritius is pretty big and so much to see.
Have you been to Le Souffleur blowhole yet on the south coast? Spectacular if the conditions are right.
I love Albion lighthouse and the nature just around it. I really hope it doesn’t get developed... Will check out that blowhole in the South very soon.
You've got a new subscriber from Mairitius, btw i live near the beach Albion! And this is my favourite place.
Welcome to the channel! I love it in Albion. It’s so peaceful. I hope it can maintain it’s tranquility and that there won’t be too much development going on.
@@LucyLeheilleix Ya i hope so
Tessukular beautiful
Thanks very much :)
Hi Lucy. Hope you are going well and your family too.
I love your video very much,
i been there some time ago and get a splendid view from top of the lighthouse.
There is an another lighthouse at ile au phare in the south east coast of the island. It was fomerly used to guide vessels entering the bay of Grand Port during early colonial time.
Stay safe..take care.
You can watch my video on youtube "Des poissons multicolores."
Thanks for watching! That other lighthouse is definitely on my list when this pandemic blows over. Stay safe:)
These stray dogs are not safe to be near them especially stroking them.Last year an English girl died in Morroco after doing the same, maybe she was bitten and died within a few days as she contracted Rabbies from the dog. Although in Mauritius rabbies is eradicated but you never know.there can be still cases there. Advise your girls not to try to play or stroke them.Better be safe than sorry. You can feed them if you wish within a distance if they look hungry.
Luckily we have no Rabies here, and so far, I haven't had any bad experiences with the wild dogs.
@@LucyLeheilleix Glad to know that.Hope the lockdown was easy for you and your family is back to the NEW normal. Here in the UK the government has botched the management of the pandemic and so far 44.000 died due to the virus.Mauritus did well dealing with the crisis and thank you God for this.
Isn’t there an animal shelter where the stray dogs can have shelter?
There are some organizations, but there are just so many stray dogs. It’s a massive problem.
Some people were drowned there while standing on the rock edge because of the unpredictability of the waves crashing.Just be careful and stay well away from the sea water..it is a killer place.
Hi there. Yes I can imagine that when the sea is very rough it can be dangerous as there are loads of currents. Common sense goes a long way I guess?! All of the best.
@@LucyLeheilleix The weird thing about Albion is you can be standing by the edge of the rock for hours with moderate waves then suddenly a huge one come crashing on the rocks,This is why some fishermen lost their life by being swept away in the water.Been there once and no more.
Can you have a guided tour inside in these days of Covid? Where do I ask for it?
Hi Heike. I think if you offer the lighthouse man some money, he’ll gladly give you a tour. Happy Christmas!
Beware. Its actually a very dangerous spot.
I believe it’s dangerous for swimming?! I love walking along the cliffs though. It’s also fabulous at sunset. Thanks for the comment.
