- This is my installation of the QuietCool Whole House Fan. Im just a homeowner who wanted to try to install this myself, you have to get access to your attic which is never fun, but after much struggling I was able to install this in an afternoon! Seems to be a great investment so far, Thanks for watching and please like and subscribe!

Great install video. I'm totally a fan. The QuietCool whole house fans are a great option if you live in a place that cools off at night. I installed one in my Colorado home where we typically have 30-40 degree temperature deltas during the summer days. The fan pulls in cool air from outside and pushes the house air into the attic. This forces the hot air in the attic outside, cooling off the attic as well. Your house will stay cooler longer into the next day saving on AC costs.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
holy cow I just stumbled upon another one of your videos while reseraching the quiet cool house fan lol. Looks like people who buy Teslas, also buy this product.
Hahaha! Thanks for watching!
Great install video, I feel fully prepared for when mine comes in this week. Not sure what’s up with all the weird, negative comments, you did everything very well.
It’s also refreshing to see an attic that doesn’t look like a condo. Mine is the same way; crouch only, loose insulation, no plywood to stand on. I plan to improve it at some point.
Thanks for your positive comment!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I really have an idea now of what it would take to install.👍
Yeah it's not bad just crawling around in the attic is challenging
Great video! The product seems well-made, but the price point is quite high considering its basic functionality. Given the cost, I was surprised to see it lacks features like a remote control, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a dedicated app. These additions could significantly enhance user experience.
Yes, those features would be nice.
What a fantastic episode. Very nicely done, Brudda. Your tone and pace are perfect. You should do audio books. Your video is great. Thank you for sharing.
Appreciate the positive comment. Thank you.
All the fans 3000 and above are 3 speed capable. all you need to do is gently pull the conduit back and it will expose the 3rd wire. You will know for sure if the motor is 3 speed capable because it will be on the actual fan motor lable. Once you get the conduit pulled back you will see it has been capped off. Run a wire off of that using a wire nut and and some electric tape then run the new wire down the conduit run. using that RF remote (which I recommend) you wire it using the 3 speed set up. Blue to blue, Red to red, Yellow to the wire you had to install off the motor, and the blacks to blacks and whites to whites. Run the ground from the power cable to the ground inside the RF box. Done. Now you have 3 speeds not two. I have no idea why they did not run that third wire down throught the conduit run. It is much better to have a medium speed if you want... not just a High / Low speed. Hope this helps.
Good info, thanks
I currently have a smaller older ES-2250 that's been great during the hot summer months to cool the house in the evening and early morning. It would have been nice to have the wireless feature in lieu of the wired controls. Nice video.
Thanks for sharing your experience
GREAT video/discussion!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for sharing. What's the recommended outside temp to turn on fan? When the fan is on high setting, is it really loud to hear across rooms?
Really depends, for me if the outside temp is below 70 degrees I'll turn it on, and it's not that loud
You have a beautiful home, but you are going to want to remove all of that carpet and use rugs. I grew up in a house without AC in Texas and we used an attic fan, which is essentially what you just installed. We did a yearly spring cleaning, like all people did back then. We had to, in order to clean the dirt and dust from the house. Spring cleaning involved removing every single thing from inside the house and cleaning the house and the rugs and furniture. Every single thing came out of the house. Every piece of furniture, drawer including stuff from the closets. Washed the walls and cleaned the ceilings. Everything got cleaned piece by piece and replaced.
You could not pay me to put an attic fan in my home. Modern homes just aren't built to be cleaned like what is required to have a "clean" home when using an attic fan. Think about how dirty your AC filters get. You are going to get that times 100 by pulling unfiltered air in the windows. Plus you are going to suck/push a hell of a lot of dirt from your attic into your home through every ceiling penetration you have, unless all of them are sealed in air tight fire-proof boxes. I also have can lights in my home and they are horrible for allowing dirt from the attic into the house. I wish you luck, and man I can still remember how great it felt to lay in bed in front of the open window on a hot summer night, but that is going to cost you in the long run I'm afraid. I do hope it works out for you though.
Good information, thanks
I have a QC ES-6000 and I can not get the duct off the fan to take the fan up to the attic. Even with the latch unhooked, there is not enough slack to pull the duct off the fan. Any ideas how to get the duct and fan to separate?
I just twisted and pulled mine and it separated.
@darren1922 I had the same issue, it will take some work and it will help a lot if another person holds one piece while you twist and rock the other piece to remove it.
Seems like you have Blown in insulation in the attic…. is it safe to install this WHFan with that insulation? Does it make the insulation fly around?
I have johns manville blown in fiberglass in my attic… i really want to get this fan installed but i’m worried it might make the insulation fly around.
Yeah it's fine, the fan blows towards the pitch of the roof
It's a tandem breaker, not a double pole.
Okay
I think that you mention two speed. Isn't that fan a three speed fan with an EC motor? I see that the wireless controller has low med and high. Also, Have you automated it, maybe with a cell phone app?
This version only came with a two speed controller, and no, I have not automated it with an app
Very helpful review.
Thanks Cam!!
if you don't get the wireless control kit, how do you turn it on? Go up in the attic every time?
No, you hard wire it to a wall switch
Can you please share a video after these months of using it. Does the insulation gets blown around in the attic?
My insulation doesn't get blown around, here's my follow up video:

@@Myksgarage Thank You sir
how long does it take for the fan to exhaust the hot air out of you house in the evenings?
When the temp drops outside it's only takes 30mins on high to cool the house down
Great review. Its just a shame QuietCool makes the UGLIEST controllers for their fans. Why wouldn't they make something that seemlessly blends with switches everyone in the real world is using? Or let us use our OWN switches without having to figure out the correct wiring (albeit simplistic wiring for DIY). I'll be shopping around a little more but this is a great review to see if the QuietCool is worth the pricetag. Thanks!
Yeah good point
The switch has medium speed, why not use the yellow wire?
It didn't come wired that way
I like the idea but I’m confused on this.. because if it’s suppose to help with the house getting cooler why would I want my windows open? Do I leave my windows open and then turn the ac on?
You turn off the a/c open the windows and this will suck in the cooler air from outside to cool your house. If it's 90 degrees outside you don't use this. You only use this fan when the outside temperature cools down like at night time.
@@Myksgarage got it! Thanks for your reply and video.
Just bought one. Should arrive next week but wireless switch kit arrives a week later. Will I be able to run it with out switch
You would have to hardwire it to a switch which may not be worth the trouble
So you can’t just plug the cord it comes with to a switch?
@richardbolanos7151 what was the outcome?
Nice review 👌
Thanks for watching!
Why did you use 20 amp wiring?
So i dont over load the circuit
For any out there who watch this...20 amp wiring is not required. It is also unnecessary to wrap electrical tape around the base of wire nuts.@@Myksgarage
There’s nothing at all wrong with how he did it. Yes, 15 amp would’ve been fine for one unit, but say he wants to add lights, an attic fan, or another whole home fan in the future, he’ll be happy he oversized. And no, you don’t have to tape wire nuts, but it’s good practice, just like taping receptacle terminals. I don’t expect a resi electrician to tape every wire nut on a new construction, but if I’m doing my own project, I might as well take the time and go the extra mile.
Bro why don't you show the complete install
🤷
why are these so expensive for a grill, duct and fan?!
Good question
How many degrees does it drop your house? And about how long does it take?
It depends on the outside temperature, on high it will bring the temperature to the same as outside in a manner of minutes
Mine will lower it but it take awhile, I can find it really cold in the middle of the night.
Mine takes a long time and doesn't get it to match the outside temp. Best it seems to do is 5 degrees higher.
Hello, the new MJJC foam cannon S V3.0 have released, may I know if you like to review it? Thanks!
Sure, email me at Myksgarage11@gmail.com
My Quiet Cool isn't Quiet Make sure you have a window or door open before you turn it on, it will suck the ceiling down.
Yes the fan is very powerful
Have you thought about adding more insulation, say R60
Yeah thought about it
I increased my attic insulation to R76, , from R 38, what a world of difference, plus the insulation , decreased the cubic feet of attic air space. Making the turn over of attic air, that much greater, per minute
I need a fan just to cool down my attic. I live in Florida Bonita Springs. If you know anybody that could install for me let me know. Thank you and have a nice day.
I bet if you bought it, any handy man could install it
If you run the AC, doesn't cool air escape your home through this duct?
The baffles close so no air can escape when the a/c is on
Do you also have an attic fan? I was curious if you need both or just the attic fan? Great vid man. Good job doing it all yourself
No I don't have an attic fan, just this whole house fan for right now
does it really help? man it is 1500 you know.
Yeah so far it has been awesome
God that is loud
It moves a lot of air!
Yes and removing cool air out of the house not good move and upsetting your ac handler return air pulling negative air against your return air grill.
When this is on, my central A/C is turned off....
Very odd house design
Okay
what city/area do you live in?
Near Salt Lake City Utah
$1200 for a fan, flex pipe, metal box with louvers. I'm sure it's a good product just way overpriced IMHO. Have a good day
Thank you
