In all these Kostya Tszyu videos there are arguments about whether he's over rated, under rated, was he that good, was he that bad, could he have beaten Floyd, that his big wins were supposedly against fighters past their prime etc etc. You know what? I don't give a shit. I just love his style and nobody can take that away. I'm not a big, knowledgeable boxing guy but honestly the only other boxer I can think of who was so menacing with his power, and devastating with body shots was Mike Tyson. KO's in boxing are about landing on the opponents chin but Tyson and Kostya (in their respective weight divisions) are two guys who, when they land a body blow, everyone holds their breath waiting to see if the opponent is going to be able to handle it or not. There's something really exciting about this kind of fighter, the shorter, stockier guy who lives his whole life within range of the opponents, they never have a reach advantage. They compensate for it with their reflexes, their power hitting, body blows, moving forward and getting in close, going straight down the middle. They punish every mistake, pounce on every weakness. High intensity fighter with a calmness in their eyes. Manny Pac, Tzsyu, Mike Tyson.... I'm sure there are others but this is the kind of fighter I'm talking about. They are all so admirable and great to watch, I don't care if they are the "greatest" or whatever. It's who I'd like to watch, and it's who I'd like to be like.
As a long time boxing fan, I think tszyu had incredible timing on his punches, even in the Judah fight after the first round it was clear that Judah had superior hand, foot speed but tszyu being trained in the former Soviet system had incredible timing, timing can beat speed if used correctly, Tszyu was a master at timing his punches
I know Mayweather fans jump on me when I say this but I think Kostya was all wrong for Floyd. Because of that timing...his brutal, crippling power has a chance to land and Kostya had a super high ring IQ. He adjusted and typically remained calm. It's hard to see Floyd getting away with tight shoulder rolls on the ropes against Kostya. I think Kostya's brillian is most on display when he owns the souls of southpaws...it's sick how many he fought and crushed. The Zab KO is great and funny but the most impressive thing in the fight is once Kostya figured him out he totally shut Zab out...be blocked the jab path, reset, applied pressure. Rewatch that fight and before you get ready to laugh at the chicken dance, first check out the entire round 2...Zab throw about 12 jabs and a few other waves...he is totally helpless against Kostya's timing, footwork, pressure and brains.
Australia is the better country to live in, but hey..I'm biased because l don't need the worry about all the killings and muggings like in USA. there's more to life than screwing people out of money
Kostya Tszyu was a force to be reckoned with when he came on the scene. Yeah he might have caught some others on their way out but, thats how boxing is and it's not his fault, if the legendary fighters wanted to stay on the scene longer than they should have. Great fighter and great champ, who later would have his own downfall as ge aged with time.
@@kevinmcgovern7567 I tend to agree that Kostya would have punished Judah badly in later rounds if the fight weren't stopped. However, it is surprising how many people claim that Judah would have won if the fight wasn't stopped. Just go and try and post your comment under Kostya-Judah fight video and you will see
Cuban boxers in a nutshell: style is incredible for amateurs, for pros 7/10 but Cuban are known for having weak chins but also for not getting hit. point is if you hit them you can get them outta there just hitting them is the hard part

Actually, the ref did a terrific job for a sometimes messy fight. Barely saw him, yet the fight flowed. Compare his performance versus the ref for Wilder Fury 2.
Oscar De LaHoya, Ike Quarte, Felix Trinidad would all beat him by KO so he had to keep squeezing into a single division. None the les he was a very good fighter but not an all time great.
I’ll give you Trinidad, the reach advantage, speed and power, would have been too much for Kostya. But the other two? ‘Pick em’ fights. Kostya was capable of starching them also.
Great fight by both men. I think Tszyu was one of the best p4p fighters of his time and one of the most underrated and avoided fighters alongside Winky Wright and Joe Calzaghe. I wish Tszyu could've fought De La Hoya and Mosley. I've always thought that his style and abilty would be bad news for both of those great fighters and that he had a very good chance of beating both men in a great fight. Great fight, great fighter, thanks for the upload.

@@juanmasa3020 Absolutely - Phillips fought thru the fireworks and let the kid run himself outta gas and put him away - all credit to Phillips. Loved his interview after the fight. Honest about being dumb in Rnd 1. When he got to the hotel afterwards he must have kicked himself for not using those devastating body shots early. He was magnificent to watch.
Tszyu Hurtado 1- 8 10 2- 10 9 3- 10 9 4- 10 9 5- KO I disagree with their scoring. The two knockdown in round 1 essentially cancel each other out. So u less Tszyu dominated (he obviously didn’t) that should have been 10-8 Hurtado with the extra knockdown. I thought Tszyu squeaked by in rounds 2-3 landing more powerful shots and being the aggressor but they were close. Round 4 marked the beginning of the fight becoming easy to score and the end of Hurtado.
What the commentators don't say , kostya had over 280 amateur fights, loosing 4 on political decisions, kostya amateur world champion in his weight class, no American ever beat him as an amateur 👌👍🙏🥊🥊🥊🥊 legendary fighter incredible ❤
Me pregunto porque esa yegua vieja del cubano no lo mandaron junto con su entrenador a cuba a cortar caña para eso hubiera tenido mejor resultado y no boxeando , tenia mucho miedo para boxear
Nah. I’m a huge Kostya fan, but I don’t see him being able to hit Mayweather cleanly. Kostya had decent skills but Floyd was so slick. Floyd by decision.
+BestCanKeanRob2 Wrong, Kyosta slipped on one of those supposed knocked downs. Also Kyosta doesn't have a glass chin at all, you obviously haven't any of his fights
Those are pretty reasonable choices....I think you can definitely say the Bailey is a more explosive puncher than Kostya (Bailey was gifted as hell)...there are different types f hard hitters.....Kostya is a punishing puncher and was pretty unique in style. Tszyu was utterly brutal back then. Hurtado simply could not cope with the power.
