One massive thing I've noticed in a couple videos that is shown perfectly here is there seems to be an issue with the stance on shorter irons (especially if your feet are above the ball). At 38:37 you can see his club is almost pointing above his belly button and the club face is super flat (lie angle). The thing that gives it away is the angle of the players wrist, it looks almost broken with the way it's bent to get the club at that angle. It's a tradeoff compared to the club being embedded in the ground all the time like in 2K21, but it's definitely something that has stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I hope I either get used to it or it gets patched.
Yeah, what sucks is I think it is rock and a hard place for them. You either have the entire club faze through the ground like you can kind of see on the left there or have it how it is in 2K23. I probably prefer 2K23 with that still in my opinion.

Thank you. To me it just looks like PGA2K21 has been patched. The ball flight was always a bit strange, so at least they’ve improved that. I’m not sure if it’s £60 worth of improvements though. I like to design a lot but we’ve not really seen the new improvements in action. I just hope they’ve improved the transition between water and rough/fairway. It always gave you bare earth along the margins of river or lake. You should be able to run the fairway down to the water, like you see at Augusta for instance. The bunker lips also needed some work. They varied a lot depending on what course type you used.
@@orcue70 I recently bought 2K23 at a bargain price and, I must say, it’s very good for a course designer. It seems so much faster and they’ve recently added some more assets.

Thank you for the informative video. They have to fix animations syncing up with the power correctly. Otherwise it's going to be a miserable experience. Chipping and putting will look completely off and unrealistic. At first I thought it looked unrealistic, because they increased the chipping distance. However now I know that it's just that the animations aren't in sync with the power. I can't believe how out of sync it is. This would be like if you pushed the trigger button while playing MWII and the gun wouldn't shoot until .5 seconds after you press it. Hopefully this is the number one thing that they are working on.
So, I wouldn't say it is a miserable experience after playing it. It takes a lot of getting used to the way that it is now. If you don't use vibration, it will be awful because you are guessing for the first 20 percent. I hope it gets fixed, but if it doesn't it's not something that completely ruins the experience imo, but it is an annoyance.
Have they fixed the hazard drops when you hit one in the drink? Sure hated being dropped behind grandstands, camera towers and on the next hole tee box across the lake...lol
Player models look pulled from another generation down to the dead eyes lol the way the fabric reacts down to the textures/models of the environment the game leaves a LOT to be desired imo and isnt a huge upgrade over the original visually however i kinda dig the new power meter
Nothing has come out yet that can beat Rory MclIroy PGA Tour, nothing, good controls, no click while the slide is in the right position crap, best commentators ever… “That’s like kissing your mother in law” epic.
Serious question here, why do people who play on PC use a controller for this game? Like, mouse control of up and down swing is just so much easier than an analog stick, no? At least this is how I feel personally. Would love to get your opinion on it! Apologies if you have explained this before.
For me it is specifically sticking with what I know. I have played video golf games with a controller my whole life. I have played this game with a controller the entire time. Instead of sitting down and learning a new form of accuracy and tempo on a mouse, sticking with what I know is easier and also feels better to me personally.
I just purchased Xbox x and want to play side by side with my partner but can’t seem to be able too do that can you give me step by step on how to do that?
I've enjoyed playing PGA Tour 2k21 but I can never hit the ball consistently straight when playing above PRO Am difficulty, it's too hard for me. I play on Xbox Series X and I just can't seem to hit the ball consistently without hitting it way off to the side..I try to play on higher difficulty but then I have to turn it back to Am difficulty. I hope the new 3 click system in 2k23 is a good new way to play.
Do you feel a bad hit in your controller? Does a bad hit sound different? Are there ANY ball hitting SoundFX in the speaker of your controller? Do you feel the rain in your controller like in Astros Playroom? Does the lighting change when it’s raining? Does the weather change at all during a round? Do you hear the wind in the trees when its windy? Does the rain sound different when you standing near a tree? Could you make a club twirl? Could you waggle the club before hitting the ball? Is the yardage book better? Could you rip of some grass and throw it in the air to check the wind? Could you actually WALK the course without a caddy? Could you use a laser for distance?
Great vid respawn , keep up the great work , any chance of letting us know or sending us a link to the vid where you did that fabulous albatross on tgc tours . Would be awesome if you did a vid of all your great shots from 2k21 .
Which platform would offer the best 2k23 gaming experience in your opinion: Series X or PC? Don't really care about the graphics differences but mostly communities and MP experience.
PC is usually always the first casualty in a dwindling player base for online features. If you are looking to continue to get MP lobbies and Divot Derby lobbies I would say go XBOX. As far as communities they are probably pretty even. You will be able to find anything you want community wise on both platforms. If you don't care about graphics/frame rates, I would say go XBOX.
Superb video. Really good 👍👏👏👏👏 Lucky for me, I've never used sliders, power bars of any nature. I like the realism of a minamilistic screen and a realistic game.
I wish they wouldn't knock off 20 yards off your tee shots because you hit a draw. Do you think the roll out makes it about equal to hitting a stock straight shot with a driver?
Draw and fade yardage reduction is MUCH less impactful for drives this year compared to 2K21. You can now do draws and not take a big hit to your yardage. Baby fades and draws are specifically much better so you can draw and fade it along slightly moving fairways without losing distance.
So is it easier to play on 2k23 overall than in 2k21? I'm asking becouse online in 2k21 was for me a littlebit to hard. Actually, it was harder for me to play pro in the game than to actually play golf irl. That's why I didn't play any online modes at all in 2k21.
Great video. Your attention to detail shows that you play the real thing. It looks like the game is becoming more of a simulator then ever. That’s what drew me to the game to begin with. I’ve played golf since I was a kid and need a video game version when I can’t get on the course in real life. Look forward to the game and future videos. What’s your society? Just recently came back to golf in real life and was wanting a new golf game and unfortunately EA isnt till march and as much as i hate EA it definitely looks more promising. Stuck between buying 2k21 or 2k23 and unfortunately im OCD and have to make the perfect purchase. So im researching every aspect between these games. Unfortunately ive found myself very indecisive on this one. In anyone's honest opinion and keep in mind i do want to immerge myself in the online side of this game + i prefer a more realistic game that being said which game would you suggest? Also would like to be able to play with my father as i gave him my old xbox one x and i have the series s..... That all being said 2k21 or 2k23? Any opinions would be super appreciated!
I think about it different, I want to support golf games since there are not many. If they don't sell we don't get any more. So what I do is buy all of them. In your case I would get 2k23 since that is the new and where most real tournaments most likely moved over. Same with the course designer, probably more courses for 2k21 but new courses will be made for the new game. So yeah get 2k23 and then buy EA PGA Tour later when on discount since that game will be 70€ at launch which is steep price for a golf game in my opinion.
I'm debating which version to get. Not worried about the dumb clothes. All I'm concerned with is the clubs and anything that can boost skill level. Based on that, which version would you suggest?
Excellent video, thanks. Quick newbie (almost) question re putting. If I have the distance guide on, is it showing me the strength needed as if it's a medium green and I have to adjust accordingly or does the guide factor in the speed and firmness of the green and I have nothing more to do than hit the sweet spot on the distance guide?
The distance that is given for putting is a general distance that you will need to make it to the cup on putts. It takes everything into consideration when calculating that initial distance that it gives you. This however can change dependent on where you are putting the ball and how much break occurs. I have a putting tutorial for 2K21 that is a touch outdated now but will give you a general idea of how putting works in these games: ruclips.net/video/s6armkjrorE/видео.html
Honestly the power bar change really turns me off. I got 2K23 for free with PSplus and i already got 2k21 for free with ps plus as well, and i way prefer the power bar being less intrusive on 21
As a golfer I wasn't impressed with 2K21. Basic real life options like moving your ball position on the tee box, mulligans and gimmes when playing a course were not in 2K21. Are these options available in 2K23? Is it supposed to be a 3D environment and if so why can't you move your point of view to anywhere on a course? Why are there divots on the tee boxes of par 4's and par 5"s? The course graphics still look way too pristine. Real life courses don't look like this. The short game in 2k21 was fantasy as you could hit shots like what they called a pitch shot with a carry distance of 125 yards using a 5 iron with the trajectory of a 9 iron. I understand that in 2K23 they have restricted their so called splash shot to bunkers. I hope they have also added a thump sound instead of the one in 2K21 where it sounded like you just hit a full iron shot. The drop option in 2K21 did not follow the rules of golf. Is there more than one camera position for replays and can you choose the camera rather than the one default replay camera in 2K21? I had a list of about 2 dozen suggestions for HB Studios but was never approved for their forum. From what I've seen so far I would say that Woods didn't have any direct input in to 2K23.
My only real comment would be that I believe the 2k21 ballflight concerns are largely because people don't understand exactly how high the pros hit the ball with every club in their bag. Just got back from being a walking scorer at the Shriner's Open in Vegas, and even having scored for the pros for the past 4 years it still amazes me every year to go and see just how much height the pros get from the top of their bag down to the wedges. If anything I believe that the appearance of 2k23's lower ballflight is an overcorrection due to complaints, at least compared to the reality of how tour pros hit the ball. I'll have to play more in depth myself to get a better feeling for it though.
Thanks for the work but damn, we still not have a good next gen graphical golf game, as years pass its Always the same shit, beetween 2k21 and 2k23 no great changes!
a lot of small changes can give a very different feel tho, from what i see this will be alof better gameplay wise. i rather have bettet gameplay than better graphics
I'm sharing this video with our society. Half want to make the move others aren't sure. Very well done, thanks for the content and keep up the great work.
It looks exactly the same so why would anyone get the new game? I have it preordered as it's the only game my wife plays and she demands it but if it were up to me I'd pass, just looks the same to me.
I am interested to see if the green reading will also be dramatically different, it seems like it will be just based on the differences you have shown with how the ball is rolling.
So green reading will be slightly different on uphill putts because of the increased break and speed of the greens. On downhill putts though, green reading dramatically changes. The ball breaks a ton more downhill and is fast, like REALLY fast, so it is something that will have to be accounted for.
Love the new power bar. Feels real if you use one of the sticks. The game is thin though. The courses stink, the my character skins are all too similar, & the gear is more basic. Love the game play, but I’ll get bored w/ it sooner than later
Oh, trust me, it is something I think needs to be fixed, but if it's not I will still be playing the hell out of this game! You can get used to it after a few rounds.
Really great videos here Respawn! Loving the side by side comparisons(Must have took a long time to do). Quick question, is the PS5 version the one your showing as I’m wondering if the graphics and frame rates will be better than the PS4 version or if there’s much difference. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait for this to launch! 👍👍👍
Ok thanks. Fingers crossed it will look the business. Totally agree with your 2K21 putting stance, definitely better. 2K23 looks like he facing off with someone in the crowd 😂

Just get standard.
Your New Step Dad 😂😂😂! I love it ❤😂💯
It is funny how Links 386 Pro looked more realistic 30 years ago than this game.
From what I've seen so far I would say that Woods didn't have any direct input in to 2K23.
awesome comparisons, ty
They went way over board on customization and boosts and super complicated leveling up system.
Your going a great job. Great video and very informative!
Wish they would get rid of power meter...
You can turn it off
Thanks for the work but damn, we still not have a good next gen graphical golf game, as years pass its Always the same shit, beetween 2k21 and 2k23 no great changes!
a lot of small changes can give a very different feel tho, from what i see this will be alof better gameplay wise. i rather
have bettet gameplay than better graphics
@@wout123100 why not both good gameplay and good graphism?
What are you playing 2k23 on? PC, PS4/5 XBox. Let us know. I remember what happened with the last game review
Really great work,keep it up
Wedge shot on 2k23 sounds like a duff, definitely sounds like ground before ball
It might be because I ever so slightly slowed it. Club to ball interaction sound has been pretty good so far in my experience.
Do they fix the flop shot?
We shall see at launch
Thanks for all the info, mate.
Thanks for the updates, Zane! I'll definitely be more prepared my first dive into the game.
No inflight watching of your shot. Makes 2k21 better
I personally feel like we still aren’t pushing the limits of next gen.
Not here. This still looks like a last gen game..
Great comparison video, must have taken a lot of time to produce as the detail us just awesome 👏
Keith from The Office is looking well
Brilliant video to watch many thanks 😊 👍🏻
Legend is too easy in 2k23. It is called LEGEND DIFFICULTY grey area should be very small but its not anymore😢😢😢.
What system you play
PC for the preview but will be on PC and PS5 when the game launches.
Brilliant content, very interesting video. My go to man for 2k golf 👍🏻
I appreciate you!
Love the new power bar. Feels real if you use one of the sticks. The game is thin though. The courses stink, the my character skins are all too similar, & the gear is more basic. Love the game play, but I’ll get bored w/ it sooner than later
Even with the swing lag I still can’t wait to play, been watching all your content !
Oh, trust me, it is something I think needs to be fixed, but if it's not I will still be playing the hell out of this game! You can get used to it after a few rounds.
One helluva job Zane extremely well done.
Excellent video! Well thought out and presented.
I don't know anything about the console versions yet. We only played on PC
Ok thanks. Fingers crossed it will look the business. Totally agree with your 2K21 putting stance, definitely better. 2K23 looks like he facing off with someone in the crowd 😂
Great vid - Which version would you suggest purchasing?
Obviously standard
Ur New StepDad, nice!
Great Video. Well done.
