People will say that it is unbreakable because QBs and Offenses have become so much better...
Well, the Offenses also throw the ball A LOT MORE than they used to, especially when that record was set!
So the QBs may be better, especially the accuracy and completion rate, but at the same time, there are a lot more opportunities to intercept the ball.

Billy Howton in 1952 had 1,231 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns en route to a second team all pro selection (the rookie receiving touchdowns lasted until Randy Moss I believe).
In their first years in the NFL, Eddie George, Jerome Bettis, and Edgerrin James each topped 1,300 rushing yards, and there’s Franco Harris who topped 1,000 on 5.6 yards per carry with double digit rushing touchdowns.
There’s the rookie seasons of Sammy Baugh and Bob Waterfield who won a championship in their first years in the NFL.
If you are willing to count players’ second years after a first year where they barely played then Tom Brady also won a championship in his first relatively full year, and there’s Patrick Mahomes’ 50 touchdown season in 2018 after a 2017 season where he played one game.
And there’s at least two defensive linemen who made first team all pro as a rookie: Jevon Kearse in 1999, and Ndamokong Suh in 2010. Both also had double digit sacks.

In its complete context Adrian Peterson should have a spot, let alone honorable mention.
He easily wins the rushing title but he missed 2 games & only got 20 or more carries once after week 9.
He still set the single game rushing record against the AFC runner ups. Also winning a RB showdown against LaDanian Tomlinson. … He lit up that decorated Bears defense, who were also Defending NFC champions. … At 8-8 and losing our last two games we were on the fringe of making the playoffs, and would have but AP had a banged up college career & we were too cautious (Brad Childress was also an idiot).
AP was seen as the best RB by his rookie season and in its actual context he’s more deserving than Hester, Baker, and Big Ben. Keep in mind, he has NOTHING around him, especially at QB & Head Coaching.

Say whatever you want about big Ben but he was a monster in the first 10 or so years of his career. Really great player with a solid team around him. Of course, if you put him in the Big Apple and Eli in Pittsburgh Eli probably wins a few more conference championships over his big bro and big bros big-time foe Tom Brady.

My buddies a Cowboys fan and when they drafted Ezekiel Elliott, I told him he would regret that pick at first I ate those words, but as time went on I was right. But I told my buddy they should draft Jalen Ramsey and get Derrick Henry with their second round, pick if he was still on the board. The Cowboys could’ve gotten Jalen Ramsey, Derrick Henry and Dak Prescott, all in the same draft

How is Mike Ditka not on here anywhere? Huge over sight. He had 12 TD's in a 14 game season which is still tied for 8th most all time for Tight Ends in one season. Also, he changed the way the position is played. I would even argue he should be number 1.

@@jcchambers7896 I meant number 1 on this list of top rookie seasons. He may have changed the way the position was played but I would still put Gronk, Gonzalez, and Gates ahead of him. Possibly others but his rookie season still was crazy especially considering to that point in the NFL it was the biggest numbers a TE had ever put up by a wide margin.

Everson Walls 11 picks?? Well, sadly this man gets looked over again which is nothing new for him. He should be a surefire Hall of Fame player with 57 career picks which is 10th all-time and one of only 2 players to lead the league in interceptions 3 times. Yep, sadly, Everson has been sorely underrated and it is a damn shame this man isn't in the Hall of Fame.
I personally feel it is due to the bias against the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, they have a lot of players in the HOF, but have quite a few that should be there without question such as Walls, Darren Woodson and I could name probably 5 more. However, the hatred for the Cowboys due to their success over the years as well as being named, not by themselves mind you, America's Team by NFL Films on a season highlight film in 78.
Well, at any rate, love or hate a team they should give props to those who deserve it. It took Drew Pearson forever to be elected and he was one of the top 2-3 receivers in the league for a decade. I do think a lot of Wide Receivers and Defensive Backs get overlooked because the league was not as pass-happy as it is today.
One can only imagine some of the numbers these guys would have...imagine Everson Walls with double the opportunities?? Anyway, good stuff outside of that glaring omission.

I love Earl Campbell, but if we are only going on rookie seasons, check his numbers vs OJ Anderson's. OJ beats him in almost every stat there is. Unfortunately he played on a woeful Cardinals team, so he wasn't noticed. If he had the same career while playing with the Giants the whole time he'd be in the Hall by now.
