  • The Realty Building has been part of the historic skyline of Youngstown, Ohio since 1924. On May 28th of this year, the future of the building changed due to a gas leak explosion.
    I know a lot of people have been wondering about the future of the building, well......the future is coming down.

    This is absolutely heart breaking! It seems as though my old home town doesn't catch any breaks, not because it can't but because it's badly run.
    Thanks for this, Jim!

    So from my stand point, the owners of the Realty building do not care about its historical significance or downtown Youngstown at all. The building could've been saved and went on for many years with a quite large investment. However, why invest when you can collect the insurance. Wouldn't be a big deal in an expanding city but this will be a parking lot shortly.

      @@lispydavid I’ll agree with that.. seems like the “people” care more about the city and its historical significance more than the people that are running it.. it’s a shame.

    We were there about 2 weeks looking at this building. We also tried to get closer but weren’t able to. I feel bad for the people that weren’t able to get their belongings out. Another historical site ending up as a pile of rubble. How sad!

      @@Dk20274 yes! Sad indeed. More sad like you said for the residents of the building.. memories totally lost with their belongings…. Thanks for commenting.

    My daughter was living there and was home when the explosion happened. She got out around 10 minutes before the expulsion. She lost everything. They never got anything of hers out of there. Strange the firemen were able to go to the upper part to bet the high-end stuff out for the rich renters. I guess their stuff was worth risking the fire men's life. Allot Ove shady went on. I would say the City was involved thud they aren't smart enough. Thanks for your input and the video.

    Lastest news... The contractors are looting people's personal property from the building. They evacuated residents after the explosion and haven't allowed anyone to return. Rumor is that an older gentleman of a dubious affiliation had a safe full of cash in one of the apartments. Rumor is also that he was able to get it accessed and it's contents liberated.

    ineresting. does the camera have zoom?

      @everydayadventureswithjim  Месяц назад

      @@nileshalinger it does , this video was the first I ever did wide view. I wanted to get the landscape in it as much as possible. The zoom is ok but starts distorting pretty good on the older gopros.
