Character design based on real people | Procreate Timelapse

- For this episode, I was inspired by one of my colleagues "Bebe" to design this character, "Marfa".
During the process, I realized that designing characters based on real people that we actually know is a great way to go. It has a lot of benefits... for example, you would know about her habits, her mentality, her fashion style, about the way she walks, or stands, the way she eats, or gets tired or angry, there is tons of information that you can't really get just from a reference image, and I really liked this experience and I'm gonna do this again for another character in the future.

I don't really get how you got that body shape from her form when the shape langauge is so different. I wouldn't be able to guess it was inspired by her at all. She has a square shaped face with a almost bean shaped body. It would have been more interesting to see you caricature those shapes.

Did anyone else feel like he was fat shaming his friend? seemed to be a lot of comments on her appetite or her not wanting to exercise etc. The art was great but not sure about the commentary.
in thailand fat people are usually more confident and things like big eating habits and stuff arent thought of as negatively like in other countries. ofc this isnt the case for every thai person but might be the case for this friendship and they probably make these jokes which is why he implemented them into the design.
