Liu Chong is basically what if Liu Bei had rich parents.
Liu chong is one of the most broken legendary lords in the game. Great duelist and also a great faction lord bonus with show of force. And his faction mechanics can boost his ranged units and artilleries. The only faction i think that boosts artillery directly. And once at late game. His chen royal guards are excellent ambushes. Surrounding from both sides. Chen royal guards can make short work of ambush.
I think one of Sun Ce's ambition buffs is for artilleries - I think it's called Zhou Yu's ambition. I forget if it's a dmg buff or an ammo buff though.
His main advantage is his ranged and defensive playstyle [he is the best in this regard....stronger than LiuPiao green wall]
His army can focus on blue or yellow with our any care of demerits.
- His tough defensive allow blue range units high survivability. [High trade income and quickly to gain artilleries]
- Yellow will reduced his upkeep cost will allow many his powerful crossbow army. [Even his elites crossbow has shorter range compare to archers but it defensive capacity allow a better exchange blow against all archer (except defender of the land)]
@@bw1678 I just played as Sun Ce, it's ammo and firing rate for artillery units
My absolute favorite playthrough. I played him as the great unifier of the Liu. He supported Liu Bei and Li Zhu with food and money to keep their forces in the fight. Then created an army of heroes with only a few units to serve as combat support to their armies and cities. I gained the support to Liu Yu by sneaking a few commanders past the enemy lines to aid in his last stand and then returned his lands to him. The. I went back to my lands as Yuan Shu was getting testy and it was time for him to go. This gained me the support of Liu Biao who joined mine and Liu Bei’s coalition.
I also ended up marrying Lady Liu who was supposed to be the wife of Yuan Shao and we had 2 strong Liu children during the war.
So unsurprisingly our first big threat came from Yuan Shao who was a contender for the Plains and we ended up racing to recapture the Emperor leading to a massive battle outside the city. But we won and I became the caretaker of the Emperor.
Liu Chong would die before the emperor came to age so he would place another Liu (I believe Liu Dai but don’t remember) to serve as regent for a few years.
Once the emperor came of age I reinstalled him as emperor. Liu Bei my closest friend and longest alliance would declare himself in opposition and so would Cao Cao who has built himself in the his father’s lands to the south.
From that point on I lost…. Stuck between the two powers I was out positioned and crushed. My armies were positioned for Cao Cao but the betrayal of Liu Bei left me without the expected support and with an enemy to the north with no armies nearby. I attempted to clean up Cao Cao and succeeded but couldn’t get to my capital (I had moved it to the old imperial capital) before it was captured by Liu Bei.
I lost in the end and I failed to save the Han Empire but at least the Liu Clan survived and Liu Chong protected his emperor until long after his death. So much fun.
Nothing feels better than having Zhao Yun and Lü Bu wandering into the Chen Province. The lack of unique generals is the only con about him.
I didnt know anything about him before but now he may be my favorite faction in the game
Good, good. Another loyal fan of Liu Chong added to the army. Welcome brother o7
Most fans of Three Kingdoms did not know who he is until Total War lol.
most of my campaigns when playing others I would try to blitz the hell out of Yuan Shu just for this reason
One good late game tip is that Wutugu makes a great prime minister. His 15% armor bonus to shielded infantry applies to Chen Royal Guard and gives them a very tanky 85% armor.
Finally I have been waiting for this guide
I usually try to rush a feud with Chu Gong and grab Nanyang by turn 5 or 6. It has good income that will help later on
Bruh why is your chinese pronuncation so good? 11/10
Cause I am Chinese
Actually looter spawn is not tied to rebellion - but to completion of "have X missle units in your army", at least it was like that to me, rebels spawned prior to rebellion, i beat them up, then hurry to yinchuan farm to take on rebels and take dong from Huang Shao
They always spawned on turn eight for me
The greatest question of TWTK: Do we keep Yuan Shu alive and hope he wipes out Liu Chong's faction early and drop Liu Chong into the recruitment pool, or do we wipe out Yuan Shu asap to prevent Liu Chong's assassination?
Doesn't he always kill Liu chong?
@@Pigga-k8k I'm finding him in my pool quiet frequently recently
Uuuh, Lu Bu! Looking forward to strategies to somehow catch He Yi in the early game! I try following him to the end of the world and he never comes out... If i keep sacking and withdrawing and killing his generic generals at some point Liu Biao comes and tries to kill his faction... so I have to attack him too to make sure that doesn't happen XD it's a mess.
Imo He Yi and Zhao Yun are most broken Lu Bu buffs. Xu Chu with the extra health is also quite decent, but hit-or-miss if Cao Cao will summon him.
Also try start as Prince in MoH campaign...Huang Gai and Taishi Ci comes to me...only probly Taishi Ci got big 4k gold army but with his bow.
watching this guide cuz i restarted three times and just cant get it right, the zhang bros just storm every settlement with a full army without losing any troops in the process, dont have enough money to keep up a good army against them
Yay finally, my prayers have been answered lol
First lol
I have seen your guides and campaigns twenty times already. Thank you for your work.
the problem with liu chong is his position. His unit are strong but very expensive early on and enemy/ potential enemy are on all sides. plus his starting county are food making, not good for income. One wrong move could see enemy descend around like rabies dog
Man i messed up so bad at the start with him i came to this video to help me understand what i should do lol
Hi Serious Trivia, have you tried to play through after turn 8? It seems like a lot has changed in 1.7.1 and the yellow turbans are much stronger now. I tried to follow your old guide together with this video. But what happened to me is that the yellow turbans are so strong that they wiped out all the Han factions.
I spent the whole game defending after expanding to Nanyang, Peng Cheng and Dong. The AI quickly wipes out the north east, rebellion starts all over the map, eventually Tao Qian and Sicuan falls and I'm forced to fight yellow turbans on 3 fronts. All the Han AIs even formed a colliation and they still got wiped.
I tried 3 times and this is how it all ended.
yes it is much more difficult to be as aggressive early on since they took away his arrow ability at the start. Your early goal should be to try to level up Liu Chong to get his arrow ability and then get aggressive with your expansion if you want to follow something similar to this approach
This Xun you picture is better than in the Lu Zhi let's play
the game patched in between the videos were made and he got unique art
My favourite strat with Liu Chong is to recruit at least 2 full good armies in the start with the money from selling military access, and when He Jin leaves Luoyang, sell all land to emperor for cash, and sneak attack Luoyang so you confederate the emperor, and inherit all the imperial units.
Hello, what happen if Emperor City Luo Yang is taken by Yellow Turban. I want Liu Chong to become emperor without betrayal so I hope I can let Yellow Turban defeat him.
@@vincentlius1569 nothing in the Mandate of Heaven start unless they also have 50 settlements. In that case, they win the mandate war and you actually lose the game. Taking Luoyang isn’t the key, wiping out Liu Hong’s faction would be the key to get what you want there. You can simply wait for the empire to dissolve and for any of the now independent factions to kill off Liu Hong’s faction which usually gets confederated by Dong Zhuo anyways if the events fire off correctly. Then it’s just a regular first to 500 prestige trigger 3 kingdoms game play.
Do the looters actually attack your settlements?
I remember being able to catch all of the looter armies in 1-2 turns with my army at the Chen farmland, because all the looters come charging straight at my army.
if you don't have anything nearby they will attack the settlement
Is there a guide for the 190 start? I find it super difficult to play as liu chong in 190, especially after a recent update making his show of force (I think that's what it is called) skill taking much longer to obtain now
I am going to wait to do guides for the same faction in a different start date because like I stated in the beginning of this guide, I want to cover at least all the factions once before providing guides for the same faction for different dates.
Should I become Liu Biao vassal? Playing on normal.
@@CptSlow89 Why are you considering it? Is there anything you will get out of accepting the offer? Becoming a vassal means you might lose your heir to annual faction council events, you lose the ability to declare your own wars and peace, and he gets a portion of your total income. So unless you are in a near death situation where you desperately need his protection, I can’t imagine any scenario aside from like a role play challenge where I would want to become someone’s vassal.
At 34:15, doesn't character get mad at you for moving them from council to administrator position?
Or is the penalty not signifcant in the grand scope of things...
they do not lose any satisfaction for being shifted. If you fire then reappoint then they will lose points first. Other than that court positions have no satisfaction until rank 8 while administrators covers you until rank 4 so if you have rank 5 character and move him then you have one level worth of dissatisfaction so 12 points and so forth. In the early game your characters are not that high level so there would be no difference
@SeriousTrivia wow that is a great work around! Thanks for your insight!
Why do you lose imperial favour for dealing with the looters on the newest patch?
They are sadly considered as Han
since you can get so much income tho would it not be worth chosing to keep starting army recruit your ol pal xD and make your way south to feud yuan shu as he cant recruit anybody for ages as you could prob get a full on army to deal with him tho prob a 2 full would be enough and then you got money upkeep still to put armies in places where looters spawn
its not a lot of income. each chen royal guard cost 320 and each chen peacekeeper cost 440. Even with say 4000 income per turn, you can't even field one full army of them, not to say a second army. Plus since you are playing as Yuan Shu, he will never assassinate you so why the rush
@@SeriousTrivia land power xD kill a threat before he becomes one tho i didnt mean field elite units from the get go i mean just keep what you got and fill with militia units will be quite easy to reduce costs that way
edit: never mind! as he pulls two generals out of nowhere despite not being able to recruit anyone normally by turn 4...
Works for records mode?
No as you would not have access to these high damage abilities
Really the banner equipping reward can just be replaced by an assignment later on.
What do you mean?
@@SeriousTrivia He probably means the bonuses to recruitment and mustering you got as a reward for equipping the banner. (it was a mission) -- that Vanguard assigments can do basically the same thing.
@@Potatoes85858 ah I see
damn the bots got to you, I wish i could use ye vanguard xbows with liu chong
i hate this start i don't want to have nothing but friendlies surrounding me. i can't expand it sucks ass
So it's your fault he got nerfed hahahaha.
yea, also Dong Zhuo confederation of the Han and a few other things
