Homesexuals, and the lost in general, are welcome at our church. We discussed this at our Bible study last night as a matter of fact.
God DOES love everyone. The Bible has guidelines and principles set forth as a love letter to us, His creations. He asks us to live a life that is Holy(honest, loving, reverent to God). He instructs us as to how to achieve that. He helps us do that as we are all weak, through the help of the Holy Spirit that He sent after Jesus died. He does not ever instruct us to do something that is not possible.
“With God all things are possible.”
      Matthew 19:26
No one has to “clean up” their lives before they come to our church, or more importantly, before they can come to God to ask for help in changing their life, for peace of mind now, and eternal life with God.
No one is an abomination; it is the presence of behavior that God has deemed wrong that is at issue. The behavior of habitual sin, whether it’s addictions or any other sin, isn’t condoned. We don’t do anyone any favors by lying to ppl. The “church” as a whole has failed in so many ways over the last few decades. We haven’t been compassionate, we’ve turned a blind eye to the Pastors that aren’t walking out a Holy lifestyle, we’ve not accepted all that want to come and we haven’t told the truth about sin, nor held ppl accountable. Many lies have been perpetrated. The Gospel(Good news), has been watered down due to cultural influences. Living a life that does not include habitual sin is possible with the help of the Holy Spirt. This is evident by the millions that have been set free from addictions, lusts of the flesh, selfish behavior and the like.
I am not Mormon. I am a Christian. Although it is not impt which denomination I am, I will say I am a spirt-filled believer that has a relationship with Jesus. Very different than being “religious”.
The Bible says much about sexual sin. Mainly bc when we are subject to our fleshly desires, it brings pain.
Sexual lust, fornication(sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman)and adultery is a sin and brings pain, not just to God but to us. This is true of all sin. Sin also brings separation from God. Mainly bc we feel so much guilt and shame and we don’t feel “good enough” for a relationship with God. But that is a lie.
We can ask for, and receive by faith, His forgiveness.
I do not want to bring offense. But the truth is the truth. Many ppl have changed Gods Word, or rejected it, bc they want to justify their own sin, or the sin of their children. 😢
We can’t do that bc that in and of itself is a sin. His Word is inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is complete. We are not to add to the Word.
      Deuteronomy 4:2
“Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.”
The answer to our issue with habitual sin in our life(addictions, sexual sins, gossip etc) or in your kids lives, is not to change Gods Word to suit ourselves, it is to have a full relationship with God.
The Bible tells us that we have to die daily to ourselves. That is SO important! That means dying to our flesh and it’s desires which are not always healthy. We surrender(our lives to Him)to win! 🤩
When our kids are little, we watch them have falls before they can walk well. We assist them, we encourage them, and sometimes, they fall without our seeing it. It’s the same with God as our Father. It pains Him I’m sure to see us stumble and fall until we can finally walk upright. We all sin. But the Bible gives us hope when it tells us that sin can no longer have dominion over us. That means it is possible! I’ve been clean and sober for 32 years after surrendering to God as my Lord and Savior. I don’t struggle with those issues, and haven’t for years. But I struggle with other things. My diet, pride and a few other things.
“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace”. Roman’s 6:14.
The last thing I will add is that we don’t lie to our kids. When they were growing up, we were doing right by them to be honest with them. Love in action is honesty, being trustworthy. We tell them the truth in the Bible bc we know it is good for them. Just like telling them that eating their veggies is good for them. We don’t lie about the things we know to be true. God does love everyone, but He is also righteous, Holy and He cannot lie. If He says something is wrong, it is wrong. We don’t “go along to get along” becoming a ppl pleaser, a “friend” (a dishonest one at that)to our kids instead of being a trustworthy parent. Same with God. He cannot lie. So if He says something is a sin, it is a sin.
It is not healthy, wise or honest to lie…to ourselves, our kids or anyone else.
      So we are doing right by our kids or ourselves by understanding that God’s Word is true, and loving;
we don’t get to live “how we want to” without consequences, and we deserve to have peace of mind about our life, which we get by living the way God has laid out for us.
It is of utmost importance that we show compassion with others that are struggling with habitual sin, but we don’t lie to them that there are not eternal consequences. Love is telling the truth and not making excuses for our behaviors.
Hope this helps someone. God bless everyone

God is omnipresent, He is everywhere.
Secondly, “sitting in a church “ is same as sitting in a garage; you don’t become a car, by just sitting in a garage.
But, about “sitting in a church “ , there are many who are sitting in a church and criticizing God, while sitting in a church.
I’m not Mormon or ex Mormon but I am a newborn Christian and God has mercy on, whom He has mercy on.
Meaning this; even in LGBT community there might be individuals who belongs to God; they just don’t know it yet.
Straight is not the goal, marriage is not the goal. Holiness is the goal.

I don’t know much about this woman’s story as I’ve only seen this short, but I can understand how she feels based on her statement. Although I am ex LDS I do think she is misguided. Maybe that’s not the best word, but what I mean is, “ when she says she looked around and didn’t see any LGBTQ+ people there or that they were hiding”, I think it is kind of offensive as it implies. They should stand out and I’m guessing be flamboyant for you to recognize them. I don’t believe somebody’s sexuality is always at the forefront and noticeable to everyone in the same way that are political affiliations aren’t and many other things that people tend to try and identify themselves with. I don’t think she meant to be offensive and I’m definitely not a social justice warrior. But I just wanted to point out that at the LDS church and many other churches in the world people of the LGBTQ plus community are welcome with some churches being exceptions as they are hateful and wish death on these people. Because one thing to understand is whether or not you’re living a sinful life through homosexual acts lusting after others, indulging in pornography, being unfaithful to partner and committing adultery and etc. these are all wrong, but this is not mean that people shouldn’t be welcomed or go to a church. And depending on whether or not people are aware of your sins, it may cause shame, and you may feel unwanted and like you’re not welcome, but that is how anyone would feel in that environment when they have been rebelling against God. I think it’s important to remember Satan wants us to think we should feel ashamed and we should hold onto it and that we should just give up and not trying reform ourselves and allow God to shape us. giving yourself to him is not easy and it’s a process and it’s different for everyone. As the last caveat, I think there are exceptions and there are people who are genuinely rude, hateful, and ugly to one another and God and Jesus Christ are not OK with that and we will all have to answer for our actions when our time comes.

Sorry...but I will be very blunt here... I feel its interesting that you found something wrong about the church after you were approached about a book regarding your experience as a mother of a famous LGBTQ person and his experience ? As a bishop there were three LBGTQ members in my ward, they had callings and even held temple recommends. They understood the covenant they made with Heavenly Father and remained faithful to their testimony. And you know what...they looked no different than any other member, no different than any other brother or sister that I have known throughout my life in the church. I loved them because they were my brothers and sister and because God loved them. But, they understood the Plan of Salvation, they trusted that if they remained faithful to their covenant, every promise and blessing would be given them after this life ! They understood that God loved them. Yes, even straight people have to remain faithful. They get no free passes. They also need to abide by God's Laws !

Did you ever look for LGBTQ+ in church before David came out as gay? Just wondering.
It sounds like you're passing judgment. I can't tell if someone is gay, an alcoholic, has an addiction of some sort, or any sinful behavior while sitting by him/her in church or out in the public.
God loves all his children. He can't condone sin. If He did He would cease to be God. Hence, there are consequences if one violates His commandments. The worst being, in my opinion, His spirit ceases to be with him/her. I have personally experienced this happen to me.
It's not a sin to be gay. It's a sin if one acts upon his/her lusts with one of the same sex.
BTW I have always enjoyed David's music. I have been a fan since the American Idol days. Did I stop being a fan when he came out as gay? No! God's love for him didn't stop either. I'm pretty sure.❤

you're equating problematic behaviors with sexuality, which is a glaring sign of homophobia. maybe she didn't think about it until her son came out because it just wasn't something she had real experience with before then. things change when someone close to you comes out.
she just wants to see a space where her son and others feel safe expressing affection as much as they would in a heterosexual relationship.

All sinners are loved by God. All people sitting in church pews are sinners. Some are sinners saved by grace bc they have recognized their sins and REPENTED or TURNED FROM their Sin and accepted Jesus free gift of salvation. LGBTQ wants to be openly sinning in God face and not repent. They want to mock God. A true repent person will do what God says even when they don't want to . A true follower will sacrifice their earthly desire for God's desire.

@@jmut714 what do you think LGBTQ+ people are? Are you born with no control over your sexual emotions, thoughts, actions, inclinations, orientation? LGBTQ+ is a choice and a lifestyle - or a series of them more accurately. They have chosen a life that doesn't agree with what LDS teachings say leads to happiness. Who wants to go to church every week to "worship" a God they either don't believe or at least refuse to listen to? Go invent your own God. Become a humanist. Reject the Judeo-Christian values and God and try to invent your own sub structure for a moral society. Plenty of people are.
The part that's really mind blowing-ly ignorant and blind is that everyone with your tone is saying "hey, you people are wrong for thinking LGBTQ+ people are wrong... we demand you conform your beliefs so that their beliefs fit better into them."
